Android 6.0 on our smartwatch - Sony Smartwatch 3

What about this? It is true?
(www) .marshmallowf.xyz/2015/12/sony-smartwatch-3-swr50-7691.html

Probably not. The website ends in ".xyz", and those sites are almost always fake.
Also, the website states you need to "install ROM manager on your Sony Smartwatch 3 Swr50, available from the google play store." In case you hadn't noticed... You can't do that. It also wants you to put an SD card containing the ROM (downloadable only with surveys) into the watch. Which is also not possible. There is a lot more proof against this website, but I think there is enough right here.

ahem... not saying Chinese websites are fake...

GPS Software Ideas - T-Mobile Dash
Im in desperate need to find a good GPS program that works with the Dash. My bluetooth GPS receiver came in today but I need to find a GPS program.
I have searched this site, and well the Search sucks and returned about 2 or 3 things pertaining to GPS Software.
Anyone got some ideas?

I am not sure of what are you asking for. What is "bluetooth program" you are referring to? TomTom 6 works on SP.

Fixed... No wonder no one had replied. Thanks
I won't lie, I've been trying to install several pirated version of it today. And it just doesn't seem to work. The closest of my attempts has been when TomTom opened up then asked for configurations then told me TomTom is not compatible with this device. Sigh. Gladly I didn't go out a buy it before trying it.
And what makes you think that a paid product will not work, just for trying it's pirated version???
I'm no saint, also tried out several pirated GPS software, AFTER I bought R66.
R66 always performed to the standarts, while all the others gave some kind of problem. I succed to make some work, but it's just too much trouble... for me, anyway.
I would advice to question the software development houses, regarding compatibity issues with your device, just to be on the safe, but I don't see why a comercial, legal version would not work correctly.

I can assure you that TT 6 works just fine on Excalibur. Retail product I mean. Certain cracked version also works, but I advice against it since developers deserve to be rewarded for their hard work.

I agree, but you can bet your ass im not shelling out that much to find out it doesn't work. I've tried several TT6 and TT5, and for some reason it says not compatible for this device. I will take your word on it though and take TT6 into consideration with Route 66 Mobile 7.
Vmiguel, do you have R66 Mobile 7 on a Dash? I've been looking at buying this. Also If you do, I read that it comes with MiniSD/SD but the Dash uses Micro SD. Are you able to install from the DVD to micro sd?
Im particularly looking for a good GPS Software that I can download online and pay for. But if I have to I can order it.
TomTom 6
I've been trying to locate TomTom6; however, I can't seem to find it anywhere. Amazon says "Coming Soon" -- as does the tomtom.com website. Is this product available in the U.S. yet (European version seems to be shipping, though...)
Also, does the bluetooth receiver included in the package need an external power source, or is it battery powered?
The online materials don't mention compatibility with the T-Mobile Dash specifically...
Thanks!

Yeah, I noticed you could order TomTom 5 from TomTom.com but TomTom 6 didn't have a purchase option.
I already have a bluetooth GPS receiver, so I am seriosuly thinking I might just order Route 66 Mobile 7 WMS.
If you guys know of any other compatable GPS software please post it.
Copilot Live
Has anyone tried Copilot Live? I read some reviews that seemed to recommend the product -- and it's a lot easier to find than Route 66.
Also, anyone have some thoughts in general about using a smartphone (such as our beloved Dash) for GPS navigation as opposed to just buying a dedicatd unit?
Thanks!
Another GPS Question...
Here's one more question. Can all of these packages be installed on a Micro SD card and run from there? Or does the main app have to be installed in phone memory? It seems these apps take a significant amount of space (6 Megs for Copilot Live, 16 Megs for Route66, etc.), so it would be a shame to be forced to install them in phone memory...
Thanks!
I'll get my Excalibur in couple of hours and will post some impressions and screen shots.

I HAVE TO APOLOGIZE TO ALL.
TomTom does not work on Smartphone. It installs fine, but then there is no possibility to pick correct com port and keyboard pressing does not correspond properly.
OK, I just ordered Route66 online from their shop. I'll let you know how is it after it arrives - within next week or so.

You have to try iGO 2006. This is very nice and easy software. Works for me and as original is pre installed on Mini SD, so it should work on any PDA's.

Nice, but no North America maps...
mapopolis
I like mapopolis. It has GPS support, street-by-street driving instructions (with voice prompt), business and place-of-interest look up, etc.
So, if you're wondering in and about a different neighborhood, you can click on the businesses and it will give you their telephone number/location, etc. You can also look up driving directions via address (like mapquest) etc.
It's works great for the pocket PC -- smartphone (like the dash) i suspect is so-so. I've used it on the mx220, and without a touch screen it's just O.K.
The cons would be their web site interface. You pay $99 for unlimited downloads of individual counties in regions of the United States. Since a state like California has 58 counties, (58 separate maps) that's a lot of downloading time. They have an option to just buy an SD card with all the maps on it, but the dash doesn't use SD. (plus it costs more).
However the pros: Trial download. (I think 10 days?). Give it a shot, see if you like it, it uninstalls pretty nicely too.

I can tell you that after a couple of weeks of use, the battery is lasting one full day. You need to perform 3-4 full cycles charge and discherge to get full capacity but now is more than acceptable.
I'm using it for business and I do not loose any call.
The UMTS 3G data is perfectly working as well as all the others features it promises.
Fully recommended froma myself... but I'm not an expert.

So I got a ZP200 and updated the firmware to the latest 20120508 one. Now pressing search button in home screen doesn't bring up Google Search any more. It vibrates a bit but nothing else. Long press still brings up Voice Search, though.
The new firmware enables the full 1GB of RAM. It's pretty nice to be able to switch between many apps.

It's from Zopo's site: http://www.zopomobile.com/xiazai.php
No, it's not ICS. Still 2.3.6.
So I figured out why the search button stopped working after the update. The new firmware is missing GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk in /system/app.
I installed Google Search from Play Store. Then made a copy of com.google...googlequicksearchbox-1.apk (can't remember the full name) in /data/app. Uninstalled Google Search in Play Store. Moved the copy to /system/app. Renamed it to GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk. Changed permissions to rw-r--r--. And I now have a functioning search button!
Of course you need to root it first. All the file operations (copy, move, etc...) were done with AntTek Explorer (File Manager) but I think any root file manager will do.

Hi stephen,
After being messed about ordering the dami y5 i have took plunge and paid for the zopo 200 as only brought the gphone merely for iphone lookalike, but now i wanted a bigger screen and more reliable phone.
Anything i need to know as regards does it come rooted? if not will superoneclick do the job?
I know only some things from having the gphone f27 but the zopo will be a newbie to me.
Looking forward to this thread and mostly my phone.
I noticed you mention something as regards get the full 1gb unlocked, why is it not already functional?
have you been able to get a protective case for yours?
Also what phone is the zopo 200 version a copy of as i see the 100 is copy of the htc evo.
I will be playing and trying things out when i get it and anything i can help with i surely will
Best wishes

It doesn't come rooted but rooting it is real easy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26268246&postcount=3
The phone was shipped with a kernel that limits the memory access to 512MB. The new shipment in China is now with the new kernel. I don't know what you will get. If the build number is ZP200_120508 or later than you have the latest.
Personally I HATE protective case. No phone is thin enough and I don't need to make it worse.
I don't know what it's copied from. Don't think it (or ZP100) had a specific target for that. They both look really generic.
Wow them cases have got to you, you want to talk about it?
I was thinking about the thin rubber type just for the back only to protect from scratches, tyre type design one like for the ipod, iphone as i got my 2 boys one for their ipods and and gphone, nice and slim and perfect for the job.
Think one's your HATING are the ott chunky one's, which i agree are pointless.
Thank you for link, i have read full thread already and saved everything and will follow carefully, read twice then act.
Really looking forward to it's arrival.
Did you get 2 batteries with your's or had to go and buy another spare as from what i read, only downside to this phone is battery life.
Best wishes

The battery life is the number 1 issue with this otherwise great phone of value. It was originally designed with an optional add-on battery in the form of a back cover. Unfortunately, the add-on battery caused so many problem (flickering screen, for example) they canceled it after the first batch.
Zopo is working on a new higher capacity (2000mAh) replacement battery with a thicker back cover. It's scheduled to become available by the end of June. It will increase the thickness of the phone from 12.5mm to 14.5mm. http://bbs.zopomobile.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=13248&extra=page=1
I don't know if it will become the standard battery but my guess is it will. We will have to find a way to get the replacement parts from China somehow. And it's obviously having an impact on the case design. Zopo had some cases for the existing one, but they will have to redesign them along with the new battery.
The phone surface is tacky enough for me. So no case needed for me.
---------- Post added at 08:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:24 AM ----------
And BTW. Hero H6000 is identical to ZP200. The official firmware update files from Zopo even have the name H6000 in it.
Some good reading there stephen.
Interesting on battery information, i wonder if i maybe get the newer one? doubt it as they need to sell the current stock.
I used translator to give me an idea on what they are upto.
Have you got gps working?

Yes. That's the same one I have installed since the first of the month.
The latest news from Zopo forums is 4.0 is almost done but they are stuck on bringing in 3D functionality. I was guessing that's the holdup since no other MT6575 phone is 3D capable. I wish they will just release a version without 3D first since not many people depend on that anyways.
On other MediaTek related news: It seems the new dual-core MT6577 phones are near their release. There's really high anticipation over there in China for this low cost performance platform. No clue if Zopo is working on one but the first couples of them will be by Huawei and Lenovo.
If anyone is looking to buy a MT6575 phone and can wait a bit, I'd advice to wait for the MT6577 phones. In addition to the obvious performance advantage, they will come with Android 4.0 installed. No update or wait needed.

[Q] GT-N7100 antenna model

Hello everyone,
My first thread here because I have some problems/questions about my second hand bought Samsung galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100).
I have several issues and I hope to solve some or all of them, otherwise I am not very pleased with my purchase, second hand as mentioned. It must be a good addition to say that it is not a normal model, but one with a TV antenna and dual SIM (normal SIM, not micro like other NOTE 2), might be a Japanese model or something. (Is there any way to figure out where it comes from?). Version information at the bottom.
Here are some of my issues:
- First and most important is that there is 16 GB internal memory but it is not recognized. When taking a picture, it tells my it can't take one because there is no SD card available. Also google is not synchronizing and I think this is related. On the other hand, when I go to storage, it says total space is 16GB and 15.6G available.
- Secondly, I want to root it and flash cyanogenmod ROM. Pressing volume down+home button and power button should make it go to download mode, but instead it goes to Factory mode, with options as "Full Test", "Item Test", "Test report", "Clear Flash", "Version" and "Reboot". I there any other way to go into download mode or change the button options?
- Thirdly, the screen is somewhat pale. The colors do not really come out as they should. I remember in my previous phone with cyanogen, it had an option to set the warmth of the screen to "cool", "warm", etc.
Version information:
BB Chip: MT6515
MS Board: GT-N7100

What's worrying me is that it's a dual sim model yet sold as N7100. Dual-sim models are Chinese and has N7102 as model no.
As for camera problem, you should be able to choose the storage you want the pictures to be stored in. If you have an SD card, it would normally ask you the first time you run the camera whether you wish to save photos to your SD, To make sure there's nothing wrong, try downloading other camera apps from play store and see if they're able to save to internal storage.
Display settings will have an option which will change how the pictures show on display. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by pale so won't dive in further.
My main concern for you is that you might have a well built fake? The model no and your description of the phone doesn't match, IMEI looks suspicious. Chinese models don't have access to most google apps including play store if I remember correctly so all the things you mention kind of shout "warning".. You may wish to have it checked to find if it is the real deal

I can at least download WhatApp and Gmail app on the play store. That seems to be fine.
As for the SD card, in storage I can select a preferred install location for new apps. I do not know if this is also applicable for photo's and I can not find the option in the camera. Did not find any camera app because the mobile internet doesnt connect and no WIFI. Will check that tonight.
Pale colors is like to opposite of intense.

You should not have access to the Play Store if you're using the dual-sim version. I'd go to a samsung centre or somewhere to check if the phone is authentic before you do anything else.

Go to the police man, it is not legal to sell copies instead of original, is a very bad thing and the seller must be punished.

You are very wrong here. Most of these devices are out of China where copy right laws do not apply.

half correct, if the phone is sold from china you are right but if he buy the phone in his country you are not, you cannot sale a fake istead of an original one if you are not telling this to the buyer, in this case is a scam an the police should manage the case.

The police have no place in this. It is more of the import and export policies. This happens all the time and is nothing new. Clones are sold on the internet on a daily basis. They all come out of china and are then protected behind their laws. Best advice is to make sure you know what your buying. If someone is selling the device for alot cheaper then normal then I would be careful.

Then it is easy to check the hardware. Which this to has been faked. Best bet is to use trusted sources for devices. Part of the reason that I went to a nexus and will get nothing else.

Android Pay tap and Pay with Watch

Just curious has anyone heard of an this working. I find it a bit odd that tap and pay works with pay pal, but not with Android pay. Will that come in a future update?
No NFC on the watch, so that will not come to this watch.

Android pay will never work, no NFC chip on board. I'm tying to find where you see paypal works? Don't be confused by paypals in application purchase and actual live tap to pay. I don't see anywhere that paypal generates bar codes which would be one way to pay in person, so if it uses NFC with this watch it's a no go as well.
Found some additional info on the paypal system. Right now only some samsung watches and pebble have the app that will allow the watch to use the low energy becons to connect with bluetooth. Only the watch is needed and does not have to be connected to a phone. This also lets us know right away some type of app will need to manage the bluetooth connection with the low energy becon, if you find a store that has one?
"When a customer walks into a retail area that is covered by a PayPal Beacon signal inside, they will receive a push notification on their smartwatch."
Actually it's been confirmed that the Huawei Watch DOES have an NFC chip, it's just not functional yet. It has also been confirmed that Android Wear 2.0 will enable that chip and therefore allow us to use Android Pay with it.

Your first source cites your second source, so it doesn't really count. If you follow the citations of the second source (and the subsequent citations from those articles), you eventually get to an article that simply states that NFC will be enabled on watches that have it. Neither source presents credible evidence that the HW has an NFC chip.

can't you read english???
The Android Wear 2.0 update will bring a redesigned UI, optimized performance, Google Assistant, customizable watchfaces with Android Wear’s “complications”, and best of all, the update will enable the dormant NFC radio found in the Huawei Watch so it may be used for Android Pay.
And as I said, it's not the only source. But I'm not interested in knowing whether you believe it or not, I was just sharing something ffs

Oh hey! That sounds great! They even provided a "via" link so we can see where they got their information! Let's follow that:
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Andr...-Huawei-Watch-before-the-end-of-March_id91964
Oh hey! Look at that! This source also says the HW watch has an NFC chip! And they also provide a "via" link so that we can see where they got their info! Let's follow that too:

Oh...wait a second. The term "NFC" only appears once in that article, and it's in this sentence: " With Android Wear 2.0, users will get access to a handful of new features that include things like Google Assistant, Play Store access so they can install apps right to the watch, and Android Pay support for those watches that have NFC." That doesn't tell us anything revolutionary now, does it?
Gasp! A retelling of a retelling of a retelling can get distorted? Who would have thought?
So in conclusion, what you are using as "evidence" that the HW has NFC are claims from two sources that claimed to have received their info from a source that doesn't mention NFC functionality in the HW specifically at all. Just that it will be enabled in watches that have the chip, which is news to no one here. Therefore, your sources do not support your claim.
Verifying sources: it's not just for scientists and students anymore.
And yes, I read English very well.
No NFC o Huawei Watch Original

Yeah, sorry, no, you read that wrong. It happens.
Would be so cool if it was true.
BTW, I've seen your responses so I'll tell you now, "I'm letting you know, I'm not asking you."
Huawei Watch micro does have NFC support but the watch itself lacks of a suitable antenna to use it (as far as I know the WiFi one can't be used for that purpose) so no... we'll never have NFC on our first generation Watch and all rumors you can find on the Net are distorted news taken from unreliable sources (or, maybe, Huawei propaganda to justify the shameful delay in releasing the final Wear 2.0 update).

Actually, these people say they got the statement from Huawei direct...
Huawei confirms the original Huawei Watch has NFC and Android Pay is being tested on it
Not making any judgements on the accuracy or otherwise
Just got a answer from HuaweiGermany.. the Huawei Watch definitly don´t has NFC built-in.. so more speculations about this and Android Pay are not neccessary

I'd trust that source over the ones that were presented earlier. "I heard it from Huawei" is a little more convincing than "I heard it from another article that never actually said it."

Then again, raider2k9 above, just heard from Huawei in person that there isn't any NFC. I think if there was an NFC chip in there it would definitely have come to light in the tear downs.
This should clear up any confusion - http://www.androidcentral.com/huawei-watch-nfc-nope

Dumb question: How do I purchase the 10?

As the title says, how do I buy it from the HTC site? The link for the cart is broken, and clicking "add to cart" doesn't seem to do anything. I've tried this on two computers, Firefox, Chrome, and IE, and on my phone. Is their site just broken? I want to give you my money HTC!
Alternatively, does anyone have a link to the cart?

Can't buy from HTC site in my country. Why not buy from re-seller? Why not ask HTC support? So many other options compared to HTC site. Wait...was this a serious question lol. Here you go http://www.htc.com/us/go/buy-htc-10/?intcid=home_us_20160517_10BUY-primary1. I'm assuming your in US.

It could be a website failure. Be patient.
Their website is garbage.
Usually the HTC 10 in Carbon Gray looks like its out of stock on the US store (where I am trying to buy it), i.e. "coming soon".
Then sometimes it appears to be available, but you can't add it to your cart.
Then it's available, but it fails at the last step of the checkout process.
This is really the most pathetically miserable online shop I've seen in a long time.
Buy it from reseller. I bought mine from one because HTC aren't very popular in my country
