What's with Bluetooth chewing up the battery? If Bluetooth is on for Android Wear, it will basically always be the top battery user. I don't think this is related to my watch because I see the same issue on my Nexus 9 running 6.0.1.
I'd like to keep it on for my smart watch but this is starting to drive be nuts. Anybody know of a fix?

I am having a similar problem, it seems as if I have BT on but not even connected to anything it is the top battery user.

Also noticed this the past day or so. Completely prevents doze as well.
Same problem. 5X. Worked fine until 6.01 update

I am running the 681 rooted.
Yesterday I noticed that Bluetooth is sucking WAY too much power. I used the phone normally, had about 50-60% power left when I went to bed, forgot to plug it in, went down to 30% during sleep. When I looked at the consumption chart BT was accountable for 30% of power usage, screen only 14%.
This is very weird. I use BT seldomly for handsfree vehicle calls. But it is on all the time, as I use it to fire up apps through Tasker whenever it detects my cars handsfree. This was never a problem or power hog on my HTC.
Anyone know whats going on there?

Are you on the same version of Android?
Well, as others have the problem too it is obv. not something unique to my configuration.
I just upgraded to .757 and will keep an eye on it. Hope the problem is eliminated in the new versoin.
I'm on .757 and have this issue, not notice this when I was on Android 4.3.

Hi guys,
I've had the same issue I believe there is a bug in the KitKat update which causes bluetooth not to switch off even after you disconnect as you can see from your battery information your phone has been awake I haven't been to sleep please follow this link for a partial solution,

Thanks for the info, just as I had suspected. My wife's z1c don't have this issue, the only thing different between our phones is that I'm pairing with My Ford Sync and hers is Nissan.
I'm so regret in buying this phone, especially that I've traded in my beloved HTC Butterfly for this piece of cripple phone, even my other cheap chinese phone is much better and stable than Sony and only costs half the price of z1c.

Just do a further test, looks like Throw could be causing the problem. Notice that whenever I switch on bluetooth Throw will pop up running and asking to connect to Sync, wtf my car is not even started or power up outside my house?!!!
Any one know how to disable Throw completely?

Nope, it makes no difference that Throw is still running. Come to think about it, Throw may not be the problem as it is also running at my wife's z1c and her bluetooth doesn't drain so much battery. I think the problem is z1c's Bluetooth doesn't goes well with My Ford Sync... so it's not only Toyota's TG. Switching Bluetooth off and then on does help.

Notice also on and off NFC consume some battery, like 3~4%, and I don't even use or have any NFC device. I can't believe after 2 up updates and the phone still has bug.... It's really a bad ideal to buy this phone, especially for a user like me who switched from a premium phone (HTC Butterfly) to this cripple phone and paid for a premium price.

Does anyone know how to get this feature to work on the LG G3. I had it working on my GS5, Nexus 5 and Moto X. I've gone into the settings in Google Now, checked all the check-marks and did the voice training but for the life of me it will not respond if the screen is locked.
That only works from the lockscreen while the phone is plugged into a charging device. It's a limitation implemented by Google.
I just tried it with my own G3, while plugged in, and it worked just fine.
That's really bizarre and downright stupid. I used it all the time in the car on my Samsung phones.

Consensus on why they did it that way is that it was to prevent battery life from getting eaten up. The Moto X has a dedicated chip for it's own "always listening" service to help prevent the battery from draining rapidly with the service being enabled, so it's in a unique situation in this particular matter.
It will work as long add the screen is on. I.E. the phone can be locked but the screen needs to be on, unless its being used via Bluetooth as others have mentioned.

My phone overheats and shuts down whenever I use Google Navigation while charging the phone. I've scoured the net searching for a fix and it seems that it a fairly common problem with kitkat phones but Google hasn't acknowledged it and there doesn't seem to be a fix. Has anyone else experienced this?
The phone runs pretty hot as is so it's no surprise. When you're navigating you're downloading maps, using gps and have the screen on constantly which all produce heat. If you add in charging then you're adding more heat. Depending on the ambient temps you'll be close to thermal limits. I ran my navigation for 3 hours yesterday without a prob. No charging though. You could try turning your screen off in between turns to reduce power consumption and heat issues.

It's not the Google Nav issue, it's LG G3 issue. I ran into the same problem with a different nav package. Screen, GPS and Charging all produce heat. Unfortunately screen has to be 100% to see it in the sun, and you need to charge it because GPS and screen at 100% use plenty of juice. So G3 which can get overheated from screen alone can't handle this.
Bottom, line this phone is handicapped by heat dissipation issue and is unsuitable to many tasks one of which is car GPS. It's unfortunate that they packed top of the line hardware into a package that can't use it.

I've had this problem with my note 3, m8 and z2. it happens to a lot of phones...not just the g3...
Same problem an all phones I've tried with google navigation.
So far, only solution has been positioning the phone on the car's airvent.. (which works only in the summer of course... :silly

That is unfortunate. My S3 handled navigation just fine. Anyone knows of a modern android phone with a replaceable battery and preferrably larger screen that can handle Nav and charging at the same time?
I used ota updates a couple of times, and then I did a normal flash of 10j, the phone regularly overheated and battery life was poor. I did a full cse(wipe) flash of 10j, and it's been perfect ever since. Could that be your issue?
OK, so after having my Nexus 5X for 2 days I was was looking at the battery reading of 68% and was not very impressed since it had been off the charger for about 7 hours and had not been used very hard.
So I took a look at the battery info and I was surprised to see that the biggest user of my precious mAh's was the bluetooth radio?!
Now, I do have a Pebble Time Steel, so I know that I use more power than those that don't have a constant wearable connection. But on my previous phone the BT radio was never in the top five.
Anyone else see this?
Is the battery software mis-reporting something?
Could there be some issue with LG's BT 4.2 implementation and Pebble's BT config?
I think it's the link to your watch, I keep Bluetooth on all day with no connection and it doesn't even register on my battery usage list
I also have the same issue, bluetooth use a decent portion of my battery, yet i just let it toggled on, but use it about an hour a day, connected to the car.
I was having the same problem as well and I finally realized Gas Buddy was doing something make the Bluetooth eat up the battery. When I uninstalled Gas Buddy Bluetooth battery usage went from the top of my list to almost the bottom and nothing else changed.

For some odd reasons this seemed to have cured my issue. I tried uninstall and reinstall a couple times today and whenever I would install back the Bluetooth used battery, mah raised and when I uninstall it it stop using battery at all.
Thanks for the heads up.

Ok, yup, I uninstalled Gas Buddy and Bluetooth power usage stats go back to normal.
I'll have to see if my general battery useage is better now. I wasn't experiencing bad battery life it was just "not great" and odd that Bluetooth was #1.
Just updated to official 8.1 last night. When connected to bluetooth, I do not have the battery indicator. Is there a setting to turn this on??
I'd love to be able to add something but since the update I can't pair with the BT in my truck. Did a factory reset after the update. If I manage to get it paired I'll let you know what I see.

depends on the device your connecting, not all devices will display battery info.
mine doesnt show in the status bar at all, if thats what you are looking for. it shows on the notification shade, the bluetooth expanded notification shade, and in settings for me.
most of the time, it doesnt show anywhere at all for my pixel buds, but others like my tracks air's for example, always show.

Interesting. I had assumed it would work no matter what device was connected through bluetooth. Everything I read, or videos watched, did not indicate this was only going to work with certain bluetooth devices.

I originally thought that as well, but have read some articles explaining it. Here is some info from one here on XDA:
From this, we can see that Google will add a new method in the BluetoothDevice class called getBatteryLevel() which will retrieve the current battery level of a connected device when called. According to the source code, this returns a value between 0 and 100 (or -1 if Bluetooth is disabled, the device is disconnected, or does not support reporting its battery level).

Really? What if the Bluetooth device your phone is connected to is a vehicle? Do you expect to see the vehicle's battery level?

Hi, just wanted to share my personal experiences with this. I used to own the LG V20 after the Note 7 recall. I had Beats by Dre powerbeats 2 and with that phone, the Bluetooth battery meter worked flawlessly. I then purchased powerbeats 3 for better battery life. Well buhbye battery meter. So my assumption there is Apple chose to "lock" the battery information for Android phones. I have also owned nexus 6, 6p, pixel xl and now pixel 2 xl..... No battery meter shown on any of those phones.

Hey man,
I just yesterday got my Pixel 2 XL sideloaded 8.1 onto it today and this is what it looks like with my cheap BT headset:
https://imgur.com/gallery/9sRVG
I checked it also on 8.0 - If I remember correctly it was the same because I remember being amazed that it shows % not just the indicator like my old device.
Cheers!! :silly:

Does the powerbeats 3 have the Apple X1 Chip in them? I bought the beats x ear buds (which are freaking awesome btw), but they have the apple x1 chip and don't display the battery level. I had another pair of bluetooth buds (i ended up returning to amazon) but they displayed the battery level. It is an apple thing im guessing. Just gotta remember what time i started using the beats x, they get around 8hrs of use.
