Galaxy S6 Edge beta Android 6.0 for UK - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

http://www.sammobile.com/2015/12/22...a-testers-for-android-6-0-marshmallow-update/
can download beta Marshmallow update 6.0 right now. be quick

I had a little bit of hope that if it were to come to the US of all the carriers tmobile would be on board but I guess just South Korea and UK. Im just so confused at Samsung. They only beta test the s6 and s6 edge but not the newer note5 or edge+, and yet 3 weeks ago tmobile had their hands and leaked a running build of mm for the note5. I can't figure this out.

The purpose of these leaks is to test and depending on feedback they can finalize and deploy the update, any day now, any day now.

Perfect ! Been waiting for this ! Seen it in my newsfeed as well!
I'm excited. The ported releases showed a lot of promise but were just too buggy for me. They did however fix a major bluetooth bug that has plagued both Samsung devices I've used with ICS (SII LTE, SIII) my car.
Looks like we may get it before AT&T users too.

Samsung released the OS to the carriers months ago presumably. The carriers tested it and bloated them up. Samsung stated that it will begin rolling out on Monday so I would assume this means at least the Big 3 will begin rolling it out first.

I agree. Maybe one carrier will push the ota but all three on same day sounds too good to be true. I bought an unlocked telus model yesterday, knowing my luck telus won't release update until 2013 lol. Heres hoping it's all 3 major carriers!

You can't take anything the carrier says as truth. Their reps do not know the answer and anything they give is purely speculation or a rumour they are pushing forward. Carrier reps always find out a day before or on the day of release for the most part about new services/features.
This news came directly from Samsung. Does this mean everyone will get the update on Monday? Probably not but we should start seeing some staggering rollouts to customers and to the rest with each passing day.
I'll start unfreezing my Rogers and Samsung bloat in TBP on Sunday in hopes I get the update on Monday.
I'll wait for a CWM/TWRP flashable version... It's bound to happen shortly once it is released... Otherwise I'll have to unroot or something...
This is fantastic news, and great timing for all of us who snagged one over the weekend through the Black Friday deal for $0 from Telus. I already love this phone as it is!

Hopefully we still be getting very soon. I was so used to 4.1.1 on my galaxy nexus

Doubt it will be Monday. Doesn't the carriers have to add bloat and test it on the network? I would say close to the 15th.
Once it is released people will start complaining about when 4.2.1 will be released. Want the fastest android updates? Get a nexus. Want the best hardware? Don't get a nexus and go cm custom rom. I wouldn't be surprised if cm10.1 was released before 4.1.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747M
If Samsung is announcing the availability, it means the carriers have already tested it and are ready to release it. It may be all of them, it may only be one or two to start, but some Canadian Galaxy S III owners should get the upgrade notice on Monday.

Cos the idea we'll get Android 5.0 on the Note 10.1 2014 is a load of fragrant hot air?
Now waiting for 4.4.4..
Come on Samsung, don't keep us waiting.
4.4.3 is just a very minor bug fixing update from 4.4.2. At least we got Kit kat with an updated Samsung skin on top as well. That's honestly a much bigger deal than getting 4.4.3. Now all we need is a stellar ROM packed with some nice tweaks and features. The upcoming Hyperdrive ROM by Sbreen looks to be it.
They'll probably skip 4.4.4 and just go to 5.0.2 in December. Hopefully there's a maintenance update to fix the video bugs in 4.4.2.
Why shouldn't we expect Updates
>>By samsung-policy wise, galaxy note will be out of its 18 month support period so no 4.4.3
Why shouldn't we expect updates. If I buy a laptop with windows I get updates (in the case of my old xp machine for over 10 years) granted my hp or dell support has long since lapsed but I can still update the operating system for bug fixes and enhancements ect..
If I buy an iPad I get updates in the case of my wife for over 4 years now.
So My question is why should Samsung or the android tablet market function any differently?

Iphone 3GS/4/4S and Ipad 2//3 did get updates to iOS6/7, probably iOS8/iOS9 too.
Did all these got all new features and works flawless with new updates? Siri was left out on IP4.
Go google on how it worked and u got u answer.
Samsung, like almost all manufacturers, for almost all devices, uses to provide a single major update, and that was Kitkat. LG seems to be special. They can manage to provide two dozen "micro updates", seemingly only fixing baseband issues affecting operation with certain providers in certain countries. No fix list, but that was the purpose of Nokia updates in the past.
My LG L9 got an update from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 one and a half years ago, from v10x to version v20a. This went up to v20p since, and there was never the slightest noticeable difference. Even a small wifi bug remains present since v20a.

What happened to the 5.1.1 update?

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to start a thread trying to find out more about the 5.1.1 update for our phones. Personally, 5.0.1, for me at least, has been a complete bust where my battery life has really taken a hit. I went from being able to use my phone for 17 hours with nearly 5 hours of screen on time (I live in an area where the reception is spotty and I listen to music nearly 24.7), to about 12 hours with about 3 hours of screen on time, with the battery saver. I've been reading the other forums and apparently, with this update, the battery life is just as good as Kit kat and the recent apps lag is gone.
I recently also heard that Samsung is starting to ask that carriers stop selling the Note 4 is also shocking.
So, that leaves me with the question, "where's our update?" because if they keep screwing us over, how are they going to have loyal users?
Good question and my battery on 5.0.1 is also crap. Sprint note4 has 5.1.1 for a while already.

Samsung had the S3 from 2012 updated to Kitkat before most 2013 devices.
You also have to remember Verizon is not the fastest at releasing updates.
This is driving me crazy. I got my Note 4 recently used but I didn't expect VWZ not to update it. I really am starting to think I need to move off of Verizon...
Are you new to Verizon?, because Verizon has always been slow to update.
With the crap experience I had recently with the Galaxy S 6, and the fact that Samsung has pulled the Note 4 (possibly just going through old stock on most carriers, as VZW, T-Mobile and AT&T all still have it), I think I'm done with Samsung.
Got no reason to keep going with them when they're treating loyal users like me who have converted many over to Samsung devices. Not just phones, I buy Samsung TVs almost exclusively and ONLY buy Samsung SSDs, but both trends may change.
Anybody interested in an almost-new Sammy 75" LED?
Looks most likely that Verizon and Samsung will skip the 5.1.1 update and go straight to 6.0 in the 1st quarter of 2016.

I got the same thing from a VZW chat rep AND a phone rep. Take that as you will. Nothing pending for 5.1.1 though.
It just occurred to me what might be the reason for the delays on updates for the Note 4. Having the Note 5 on a later version could be the only real advantage it has. People don't like the loss of the removable battery and SD support.

Yeah, I dumped my S6 to go back to the Note 4. I had a Note 4 with AT&T and I almost wish I had kept it. But if I had kept it, I wouldn't have my Surface Pro 2.
I was wondering the same thing, along with is there any point to actually holding off updating anymore? Really doubting permanent root, at this point.

I'm not 100% sure, but basically this phones probably never going to be rooted. The only reason to ever hold off on an update is to see what others have to say about the new update. I didnt do this with lollipop and now i'm in that predicament.
Honestly we should just tweet to @verizonSupport and take screen shots of our phones saying up to date. Let's try and get our voices out there!

I talked to Samsung and Verizon the other day about that. And Samsung says it's been out and clueless as to why we haven't received it and Verizon stated "we don't have a switch to just push out an update we haven't received for the note 4" and I told them how it works and they quickly changed the subject and hung up. My theory is this last update was so screwed up by locking everything up so tight they are unable to push it out. Hell repair assistant fails to have the ability to do it.

Lollipop update

I am getting so frustrated at T-Mobile. Is is phone every getting an official update to lollipop. Every other gs4 has been updated except the m-919.

I don't believe it will get the update. It's not on any recent update list I've seen. Frankly I was surprised they even pushed the stage fright patch. I basically consider the phone abandoned by T-mo in terms of substantive OS updates.

I guess i didn't think a carrier had the power to refuse an update the manufacturer pushed out, oh well, i guess I'm going to LG g4 when i can jump over.
Sent from my SGH-M919
Yeah I think the excuse they gave a little while ago was that it was going to cause to much of a performance stop. I forget which phone, but one of the devices updated to kit Kat slowed and caused people to get upset. I think that was the reason they gave for the s4 not getting it.
Samsung has already released Lollipop for pretty much every variant of the S4, including AT&T.
Performance is not an issue with the AT&T build, so T-Mobile's only excuse is money.
T-Mobile would have to invest time and resources into adding their WiFi calling and VoLTE features to the build before they can release it.
T-Mobile knows they aren't going to make any $$$ pushing Lollipop to the S4, so they abandoned the phone.
Pushing Stagefright patch required very little effort as they simply patched their existing 4.4.4 build.
Seeing as how they pushed out a GPE version today, I'm hoping that they are working on an update

I'm not surprised T-Mobile isn't pushing Lollipop. They want you to upgrade to a new phone instead. AT&T and Verizon were still selling brand new S4s in Spring (my father-in-law bought a new Verizon S4 from Best Buy in May), so they may feel obligated to continue supporting it. I think T-Mobile dropped the S4 at the beginning of 2015.

Yes, there is. Check out:

I've installed it on my M919 and so far it's bug free. Absolutely no bloatware and battery life seems better than the stock 4.4.4/OH3. Hint: upgrade to latest stock firmware first as recommended. We did this with Odin to OH3 without issues.

Welcome to Marshmallow

Looks like we are one step closer to marshmallow. The T-Mobile website now shows the phone in T-Mobile testing phase.
Update: Download some marshmallows now.
Taking them way too long. Verizon already is pushing out Marshmallow for the Note. They are usually the last carrier. I'm disappointed with development from this phone.
you sure about that? to me it still shows that it is under manufacturer development
Maybe we'll see it in April
Telus may rollout Marshmallow at March 30th for s6 edge. what about t-mobile
I believe tmobile has always been the slowest in releasing updates. ..don't be surprised either April or May timeframe
I couldn't help it. I used JUMP to get the S7 Edge. In Reality it's exactly what I wanted the S6 Edge to be. I really have zero complaints about the S6 Edge. I'll miss seeing how it handles marshmallow. I think it'll fit it well.
Can't blame you. ..I'm thinking of upgrading myself. ..this update is taking to long

It is kind of hilarious we are now reading Android N developer preview stuff, seeing lowly Sprint rolling out updates to M and we are reading that it's still in a development phase as far as TMobile goes. I not one that thinks M is going to be that great we absolutely need to have it Android. I'm more disappointed I have been a long time Tmobile customer, and going from my first Android, my beloved Nexus One that was put at by Google at the time, to switching over to Samsung and basically being the good little follower/updater of every TOL device they put out prior to my current S6Edge which I obtained on the first day of availability last April 2015 and my wifes Note5 I recently updated her to from her Note 3. TMobile used to be known as the leader of the pack supporting their USA customer base.
Lastly, in the past up thru the latest 5.1.1 updates, it was really easy to flash an International version, use a Kerenel that played happy with TMobile hardware, and occasionally requiring an additional flash of a file to fix call audio issues and we all were golden. I'm guessing that once a TMobile supported Android M Bootloader is available, we can then happily start flashing away the many International Android M ROMs already being posted on those Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge sites.
I could be wrong on that, but I really thing once we have a bootloader posted we can all go back to complaining about this or that specific ROM issues, instead of pounding the web sites for Tmobile to get it's act in gear. Really....Sprint ahead of Tmobile....scratching my head
Sprint rolls out their updates first when business is mediocre.
Still waiting for M. This is why I dont buy Tmo S7.
Im start hate samsung, so many versions for the same cellphone or watch, I never want say this but with iphone dont happen thinks like that..
Well, finally it's showing on T-Mobile's page that it is in testing phase.

And yes Alex9090 seems like I made a mistake when I started this thread, maybe my excitement got to me. But its in T-Mobile Testing phase now.
KingP1n I don't see Samsung changing their ways anytime soon. They are trying to use touchwiz in a way to make money from it. But the end result is always the same it takes too many resources away from the base OS and the whole experience feels like riding on the short bus.
This is my last Sammie phone anyway... I've been pretty disappointed in it and should have waited to buy it - always out to be the early adopter.. i need to knock that crap off..
Having to wait for hell to freeze over before getting the update just hammers it all home...
The worst part is that this will most likely be the last update this phone will get.
Imagine next year we will be where S5 owners are now last to get if ever get Android N
