I had good battery life before 5.1.1 despite many apps loaded including WatchMaker Pro. Was able to get through end of day and then some.
After 5.1.1 update can't get more than 7 hours. I tried completely resetting watch, removing/reinstalling Android Wear/Moto apps from phone and clearing BT. Tried removing many apps, turned off WiFi, turned off card flip, ambient off, even turned off flip to wake which I had on before. There are less battery munching things installed and more functions turned off yet much lower battery life.
Battery Level indicator shows...
- Android Wear 8%
- Bluetooth 6%
- Android System 4%
- Screen 3%
I saw post about clearing everything off phone and starting over, which I've done.
Any suggestions?

Edit: Based on responses below, it has been fixed.
Here is exactly what I did that solved my battery life issues after 5.1.1 update. I don't know if all steps necessary but is what worked for me...
- Go to Android Wear app on phone, Settings>Moto360 Connected>Forget Watch at bottom of screen
- Phone App Manager in Settings, Select Android Wear - Clear Data, Clear Cache, Uninstall App. Also uninstall Moto Connect app.
- Check Bluetooth, unpair watch if still there. Turn off Bluetooth.
- Reboot Phone (Do this, I missed this step and had issues)
- Do a factory/hard reset on Watch from Watch Settings
- On phone, turn on Bluetooth after rebooted.
- Install this version of Android Wear (this may not be required but is what I did)...

- Setup as if new watch
- Check battery level over time and hopefully 'Watch Idle' is on top of list
- After confirming battery drain resolved....
- Goto Android Wear, Settings>Moto360 Connected>Resync apps
I now get well over a 24 hours battery life with many apps installed and complex Watchmaker Pro face - everything turned on except WiFi, ambient screen. Watch Idle shows as top item in Battery level screen.
I eventually let Android Wear app update under Google Play and all was fine. It may not be necessary to install older version first but is what I did.
I have had the same results. I used to sleep with my watch on and the battery would drain about 18% in 7 hours. Since installing 5.1.1, my battery life is much worse. This morning i woke and only had 2% charge left. Today I went from 8:30am to 2:30pm and had 39% charge left with minimal use, so it burns around 10% an hour.

Is there an app syncing data to your watch (Play Music) or anything? Here are my stats so far today:
- Idel 8%
- Android Wear 4%
- Android System 3%
- Screen 3%
- Bluetooth 2%
- Wifi 1%
(I had 4 other apps at 1% each that I did not list)
I have had my watch off the charger for 9 hours and lost 37% battery (4.1% and hour). The only thing I see is that your Bluetooth and Android Wear seem high, which would make me think there is some app syncing data to the watch.
Unninstall the Android wear APK that updated on June 18 on your phone, install the May 26 APK and deny the auto update feature, this worked for me.
With the update the watch lost 10% in 1 hour now it loses 10% in 7 hours

Thanks all. I reset watch again, installed older version of Wear above and rebooted phone (important step I didn't do before). Am now getting 24+ hours even with a complex Wacthmaker Pro face I created that shows heartrate/steps/weather and 10 other stats. Am happy camper again. Watch Idle is now highest on battery activity.
BTW, Android Wear updated in Google Play to latest version and still great battery life.
7 hours is great. Mine died in 45 minutes. I got up - took it off the charger - it was at 100% - 45 mins later it had 12% left and a minute later died. I'll see how it goes tomorrow but 45 mins of battery time for a relatively new device is insane. It says that 98% of the battery is used by Android Wear.
The battery drained in 3 hours of no use, wtf happened? any idea?

Go to Android Wear app on phone, Settings gear icon>Moto360 Connected>watch battery
edit: Seems odd it's so deeply hidden but the reason is because they now support multiple Wear devices so you have to select which device you want to see stats on even though most only have one.
I just bought it today but my batery life is just horrible. I updated to 5.0.2 and I don't think I should install 5.1.1.
This is what happends:
- I charge to 100%
- after 1 hour its dead.

drop down on the watch or open the android wear app tap the gear at the top right then select moto 360 and there is an option that reads watch battery.
Since the update I can't seem to get to bed with the 20 per cent of battery I used to. I have tilt, ambient, gestures, wifi and auto brightness on. Should I turn off wifi or something?

Check battery level in Wear app and if Screen is high, it might be tilt, ambient, auto brightness. I'm not sure where WiFi shows up, maybe as Android System. I have WiFi turned off, would think it would be biggest battery muncher. Ambient also known to munch.

I've been having really good luck with battery life considering. I lose about 3% an hour on Bluetooth and about 4% an hour on WiFi. I can't take my connected phone to work so I use another phone to create a hotspot. My watch spends about 9 hours straight on WiFi and I am having better than expected results. Tilt on. Ambient off. 180 min WiFi timeout. Stock rotate watch face. Auto brightness.

I've got no issues with the watch on 5.1.1, but my Samsung S6 has been hit hard with the latest Android Wear app... fk me.. I used to get almost 5 hrs SOT, but now its just on 3.5hrs..
I think the watch/software is just buggy. Like today I got out at 10AM and it's now 11PM and it still has 58% battery. The other day it died in less than an hour.
PS: Perhaps it should be restarted every now and then. Reminds me of old times with Windows 98. Restart usually fixed lots of problems.
After doing the whole process of deleting apps, resetting the watch and pair the watch to the handset the battery lasted 2 and a half days
Since getting the OTA, Doze hasn't worked at all. I haven't installed any new apps, and am stock/unrooted. Here's the battery graph from last night with the phone sitting on the nightstand.

Yep, flat line before the update. Here's the detailed battery view (4% after my first screenshot, but serves the same purpose). Looks like something is keeping the phone awake but nothing else changed outside of updating the OS.
I restarted and that didn't help. Maybe it has to re-optimize.
Doze appears to be working on mine but I've only had it for a day and am using it a lot. When not in use for an extended period of time the battery graph completely levels out and doesn't decrease at all. Then again I think I've only gone about 20 minutes without touching it since I took it off of the charger this morning.
Check your Developer Options > Running Services for any suspicious activity.
I had Google Maps "offline Maps service" hammering my device during sleep the other day even though I've never saved an offline map yet.
See attachment for Doze. It works better on my 5x than 6p. I'm not sure why. Total flatline.

You can see if Doze is active if you have any app that records data periodically. Leave it running over night and you should be able to see a reduction in samples in the early morning. For example, when logging current usage with "Current Widget", when Doze kicks in the sampling slows way down. If I leave it on overnight set to take a sample about once a minute by the time I wake it is 2 to 3 hours between samples. I've had higher current drain when I though Doze wasn't working, but upon looking at the Current Widget log file, I could see that Doze was active.

Wait, Current Widget actually works properly with you with the 5x? It rarely updates for me. All software current monitoring tools seem to do so.
I figured it must be something with how the power regulation works on this device.
With my Nexus 5 it would update exactly as intended and could be plotted on the graph, until the phone entered deep sleep then the updates became infrequent. This was on Lollipop before Doze existed, so that tells me that it is because of Deep Sleep not Doze.

You may have solved my problem. Using Wakelock Detector, I saw that Google Maps was slamming my phone too keeping from dozing. I deleted my offline maps and disabled the option. Hopefully that fixes it for me
Hi, I recently got my S9 but however lately I've been getting idle drain. With mobile data off, I lose about 2% every 2 hours and with mobile data on, I lose 4% every 2 hours. I have GSam installed and used ADB to give it permission for battery stats. Below are screenshots

It seems to be from IMS service. I read that it can be from either WiFi calling or volte. I do not want to turn off either. Had anyone else experienced this? I still have good battery but this idle drain isn't normal. I haven't left my phone overnight so I guess I might try that tonight and see how much it drains

I am re-opening this old thread since I am facing the exact same behaviour with my new S10+. Due to IMS wakelocks, my battery drains 30-40% overnight (while I'm sleeping for 7 hours). If I put my phone in flight mode, it loses 1% overnight. Did you manage to find a solution afterall? I really hate having to put my phone in flight mode every night. Thanks in advance :highfive:

I am stuck at exactly the same problem: The phone (S9, stock-rom) drains approx 20% over night, doing nothing. Reason (according to GSam Battery Monitor) is the high power consumption of Apps > Android-System > 48 mins (264 count) wakelocks caused by ImsService.
If you look at the picture of batter usage in Gsam you clearly see, the phone stays active all night and barely sleeps/dozes :-(
What I already tried, without any effects:
- clearing cache of all "IMS*" Services in App Manager
- wiping cache partition
- disabling AOD (Always On Display) and VoLTE Telephony
- removing and re-adding google account
I am a little clueless and would like to avoid a factory reset as especially all those nasty "push-tan applications" will most likely need a re-authorization :-(

After a long journey it seems that I found a solution: At least on Android 10 there seems to be a bug in google location services. If you disabled location history, the API requests are still made but get stuck each time (every 60 sec.) and keep the phone awake instead of returning to sleep.
The "bitter" solution was to turn on Google Location history again ... and suddenly the drain ends, as the detection and transmission of the location is ways faster, than letting the die in a timeout ...
I'm a really light user. I lost a little less than 2% every hour. Basically I use it as a purely communication device. Mostly check facebook messenger, my emails, and occasionally, browse facebook, reddit, 9gag or watch a short youtube video. I stay up about 16 hours on average and at the end of the day, I was regularly around 80%. If I left the phone unplugged overnight while I slept, I only lose about 6% over 8 hours. I was really happy with the battery life. I could very easily see 3 full days out of my phone off a single charge. This was before the Pie update. I tried both the Beta and the Stable once it released, and my battery life has suffered severely. I'm losing 6% every hour, even with the screen off the entire time. At the end of the day, my phone is in the red and has already turned on power saving mode. Android Pie has killed my Pixel 2 XL's battery. I gave it 2 weeks to "learn" my usage habits, but ultimately, I factory reset and even went back to 8.1, but I still suffer from battery issues. Battery usage gives no hint to the culprit. My phone has been unplugged for 7 hours, with 45 minutes of screen on time, and at 54% remaining battery life. Screen On time is the highest battery drain according to the system battery stats. I didn't have this issue until I installed Android Pie Stable.
I have no idea what could be going on, but could really use some help with this.
TL;DR: From 2% to 6% per hour battery drain on Pie. Reverted to Oreo and FR but still an issue. Advice?
Did you check if the WiFi scanning is turned ON? Settings --> Location --> Scanning
I feel its the only issue, nothing should drain your P2XL crazy if apps remaining constant factory reset.

I also use it very similarly to you and easily get 2 days with a single charge on Pie. During night my device drains 1 or 2 % only (wi-fi, bluetooth and 4g on), but I have wi-fi scanning off. Google location services are on (including Location Accuracy on). "At a Glance" is turned off but still using stock Pixel Launcher. No hacks/mods installed.
Same except I have at a glance enabled. I disable it 6 hours ago to test and didn't affect battery drain at all. Still losing 6% every hour. Location and scanning settings default except connect to open WiFi is enabled. Right now testing if connect to open WiFi and Bluetooth WiFi location improvement affecting battery drain.

I changed some settings and now I'm getting 17mAh drain. Fixed.
The biggest battery sucker for me was having Auto-connect to open wifi enabled and fixing stuck sync tasks. It was preventing my phone from sleeping.
Great to know you were able to stop the draining, I think it might be of great help to other P2XL owners to know what were the settings you changed that fixed the issue.

Download and install Accubattery to monitor your mAh usage. Make sure you check your deep sleep percentage. By the sound of things, your phone is running hot when idle, so it's not sleeping like it should be. You can install Wakelock Detector Lite to see which apps are keeping your phone awake. Once you find out what apps are draining your battery, use the System battery manager in Settings to restrict battery usage for those apps. If that doesn't help, then uninstall the app (unless it is necessary to you). If an app isn't keeping your phone awake, then it may be your system settings. Turn off location scanning for wifi and bluetooth (in the GPS section). Turn off Wifi auto-connect to open wifi. Where I live I have pretty weak cellular connection. I opted to disable Mobile data always active in developer options (Go to about phone, and tap the build number 7 times, then enter your device password). While you are here, you can check Running services in developer options and see what you have running. Also, make sure your accounts aren't stuck trying to sync. If they are, cancel the sync and restart it. Depending on how far you are backlogged, this can take a while. If the sync still gets stuck, try removing and re-adding the account that is getting stuck.
After I restricted/uninstalled the misbehaving applications and tuned the device settings, I'm getting great standby time on my Pixel 2 XL. If I close all my apps before putting the phone back in my pocket, according to accubattery, I'm losing 15mA/h or about 0.4%/h. If I charged my phone to 100%, then unplugged it without using it at all, it would take 10 days for the battery to run out. It's pretty good. As someone who primarily uses their phone as a communication device and research tool, I'm a pretty lightweight user.

Tried a factory reset but no change. I have an Exchange account on Gmail with auto push settings. Other than that everything else is normal.
Is this drain normal? Any suggestions to fix this will be highly appreciated.
I believe Ambient Display uses about 1% per hour, typically.

In that same screen you can use the 3-dot menu to toggle between "full device usage" and "app usage". You are on the full device side. As a baseline test try placing your phone in flip to shhh mode (setttings>>system>>gestures), and leave the phone face down overnight.

I put it on full device because app only mode doesn't show any apps at all.
Shhh mode turns on do not disturb right? I used Wind down from digital wellness and it also puts the phone on DND and greys the phone.
Still the drain is so terrible.
I tried disabling adaptive battery (interesting enough, it doesn't help to hibernate unused apps as much as it claims it would), turning off "system tracing application" in developer options too (not sure if its a big factor), left my phone on battery overnight then woke up ~7 hours later, lost 4%, unlocked for a few minutes then it dropped another 1% ---> total of 5% drain from 7 hours (0.7%/hour), overall pretty decent, with adaptive battery ON I tend to lose 1% per hour standby.
Wow that is interesting. Adaptive battery is supposed to be intelligently increase your battery life based on the usage.
It's the other way around here? ?
