Device corrupt message on boot - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I thought I went back to stock and locked my bootloader....
I flashed the img from the Google site... The latest 6.0.1
I then locked the bootloader
But I'm getting the message stated in the title....
Otherwise the phone works fine... Boots up normal... Everything works... It's just that one message on boot...
Any help?

By the way, Android pay seems to have setup just fine.. Dunno if that helps

Fastboot shows ??????????

I recently flashed the newest CM Nightly. When I booted the phone up, I was having too many bugs for my taste, so I decided to flash back to my previous rom Pure Nexus. When I did that, everything went well according to the recovery. However, when I booted the phone, it was stuck in the boot animation. So then I decided I'd flash back to stock and start all over from the beginning. Brought up the bootloader and prepared the whole fastboot thing only to get this message:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>fastboot devices
???????????? fastboot
I reflashed CM to see if I could get my phone to work at least and it would boot up, allowing me to use basic phone functions, but apparently my mobile data isn't working.
Now I can't do anything in fastboot. What did I do and can I fix it? Thank you all for the help in advance.
Edit - I was able to get it to register in fastboot somehow, so I tried flashing the latest stock firmware. It appeared to work perfectly. Now when I boot up the phone, I get past the boot animation and an error pops up saying "system UI has stopped" and won't go away. Now when I attempt to get fastboot working again, I get the ?????????. WTF did I do? Is my phone FUBAR?
Firstly reinstall fastboot.
Secondly flash fully stock again, latest version.
If you flash everything again everything should be OK.
Thank you for the reply. I did what you said and again everything appeared to flash correctly. However, once I got past the boot animation again, the "System UI has stopped" message popped up and I can't do anything with the phone.
Should I lock the bootloader to make it completely stock again? Keep flashing until it works?
Okay so I decrypted my data partition and now it works perfectly. Weird. Thanks for your help anyway.

Trying to update while rooted...

Hello,
today I accidentally tapped on "Update" (to 7.1.1) on my rooted Nexus 5X... Something you usually shouldn't do, but it was 2am and I was tired and.... Doesn't matter. After this my phone rebooted and almost instantly showed the dead android with the message "No command". And now I'm stuck there. After rebooting I still land there.
Since the error message almost instantly appeared and since I still can boot into TWRP (3.0.2-2), I think the update wasn't installed and I hope to find a way to avoid the factory reset of my phone. Do you have some tips or possible solutions what I should do in this case?
Thank you for your help.
Its odd this happened, when rooted and twrp installed. in my experience, the update will just simply fail and it will boot back up.... in your case, it sounds like something flashed but the phone didnt like it.... All I can think of is if you cant get into twrp, boot into fastboot and flash the factory image from google, you will loose all data though.....
EDIT, RE-READ you post, if you CAN get into TWRP, try flashing a backup... you should have a backup I hope, lol... First rule of root and flashing is make a backup asap....LOL
When I rooted my phone I did a backup. But the problem is, it was several months ago. So I tried the only method I could save all my data. It wasn't safe, I knew this, but no risk no fun.
My solution was: Download the ota update from Google and flash it with TWRP... Voila! My phone boots properly with the new update... But this method is like I mentioned before not safe and can probably cause a boot-loop with an overwritten recovery. I had to flash my recovery again, but everything works fine now.

'Unfortunately setup wizard has stopped' after trying to return to stock

Hello,
need a lot of help trying to get my EU HTC 10 working again.
Im very new with this kind of stuff and have obviously messed something up on my device. I was running LeeDroid on my HTC 10, (bootloader unlocked, twrp recovery installed), however i wanted to return to stock and followed guides on xda.
I flashed a twrp recovery backup and rebooted my device, i then flashed stock recovery and re-locked the bootloader. After rebooting my device again a message pops up onto the screen saying 'unfortunately setup wizard has stopped'. I cannot get past this message and do not have twrp installed anymore to re-flash any rom, and do not have usb debugging enabled in settings and cant enable as i cant get into device.
I have tried using an RUU.exe to restore phone how ever the installer give me error 170 (device not detected). I have also tried to ruu.zip from my sd card however i get error '19 RU-MAIN-VER-FAIL os-version in android-info missing or i'.
anyone have any ideas on how to proceed.
Thank you!

I've never wanted to return to stock, especially after running leedroid. So not 100% but have you tried a factory reset?

Unable to update to GPU Turbo update (Unlocked bootloader)

Hello All,
I was excited too about the new update but sadly I am unable to update to it. I downloaded the update but when the device rebooted it gave me an error.
I don't have the screenshot but it was the white screen with green android and red text saying there was an error.
I had recently unlocked the bootloader successfully but was unable to get the TWRP installed even after multiple attempts ( I think a corrupted version of TWRP is installed). Since the device was working fine and I didn't want to brick it, I let it be and kept on using it. Until today, when the update came and I am unable to get it.
Any idea how I can get back to the state my phone was before I messed it up. Please note that I am unable to get the TWRP installed even after multiple updates.
Will the Huwai Suit help in that?
Thanks for reading.
Cheers!
Well that's just sad to hear!! I don't exactly know what happened...am saying this because my phone's bootloader is also unlocked...i updated yesterday only and all went fine...

I think it's because of the incorrect installation of TWRP. I tried installing TWRP multiple times and it started giving errors. Since my phone was booting properly and I did not want to risk bricking it, I left it as it was and continued using the phone.
Is there any way we can either un-install TWRP and lock bootloader again. ?
Update: Huwai suit didn't help.

Problem with Pixel c . Downgrade to Android 7.1.2.

Hello.
I create a new post it will be better organized. Well, in the end I have a big problem with the c pixel. I wanted to flash Factory 7.1.2 ryu. I followed all the steps on the Google site. So install adb and Fastboot with their drivers. Then double click on Flash_all.bat. All went well it rebooted and I can use the tablet without any problem. The only thing I didn't do was lock the bootloader because I thought it would wait until tomorrow. So everything works fine I have test some features, then I test the restart and there is a big mistake. I see the message: bootloader is unlocked and os verification is off the device continues booting in 30 second. Then a high-pitched beep and the Google logo appears but never changes. So nothing left and blocked on this logo. And did I do something stupid, did I brick it. I'm lost ?
While trying to connect it in sector there was the animation of the four small rounds then it turns off and goes in bootloop. Is it over? ?? Or can I still fix it?
I'm going back to the message I posted earlier. Here, I undertook alone to look for my mistake to remedy it. So in the recovery I saw "enter in fastboot mode" so I pressed it and I reflashed the rom factory. then everything went well. And instead of continuing like yesterday I immediately locked the bootloader. Then I rebooted and for the moment everything is going well. The only thing I'm afraid to do is restart. But if everything goes wrong I'll just have to flash the rom factory again, I think. So here it is I solved my problem by myself
Edit: the restart works perfectly. My mistake was to restart without locking the bootloader.
