When doing a cache partition wipe on the VS986? Holding power button and volume button down while phone is off. I tried it and it was nothing like what I have experienced before with other android devices. No black screen with green print and options to select as usual. Is this Verizon's modification.

After updating to 4.1.2, I stupidly uninstalled the Google Calendar Storage from my phone's operating system. Is there a way for me to go back to 4.1.1 or do I need to un-root, and install the stock ROM and start over?
To make matters worse I failed to back-up the phone after the update.
OK, I followed this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2004650&page=41 and re-flashed to the ATT stock rooted ROM.
Everything went well, however it is stuck on the Samsung reboot screen and I can't access anything else in the phone or even turn it off, unless I pull the battery, after re-installing the battery it still hangs up on the Samsung screen. I was able to get back into download mode and try the process again with the same results. Any ideas? or is it a brick?
Got er back! tried the following;
1. Press and hold: Volume up + center "home" button + power
2. Once you see the Galaxy note 2 logo, let go of power, but KEEP holding Volume up + center "home" button until you boot into the Android system recovery (3e) menu
3. Select "wipe data/factory reset" (press power button to select item and volume to move up and down)
4. Select "wipe cache partition"
5. Once all that is done, select reboot system now.
Hi guys I've a rooted Zenfone 2 and yesterday I updated it and now it doesn't boot. I've found a guide that said me to wipe the cache but during the cache wiping process i've forced shutted down my phone. Now when I try to enter into the recovery mode there is a sleeping android robot that flashes every few seconds. when i try to enter using power btn holded + up volume for a while and then release the buttons, the robot simply flashes again and nothing else happens.
please help me!
Thanks
Sam

When you see the robot, try just pressing the "Volume Up" one time and nothing else, this should take you into recovery.

Thank you so much, but nothing happens, the robot still flashes
You should be able to get to what I think is the bootloader screen by holding the volume up and power button while the device is off, as it turns on and vibrates release the power button. The screen will load asking if you want to go to recovery or do a normal boot, plug the phone into a computer and fastboot erase cache.
This happened to me before, doing a fastboot erase cache command fixed it. The stock recovery can take 5-7 mintues to erase the case. I wasn't patient enough, thought something was wrong and shut the device off. the fastboot erase cahce takes about 1 second.

This is great advice... the same exact thing happened to me, and the same exact fix solved it.
my zenfone 2 freezes while wiping cache partition and it now does not boot into recovery mode even after pressing volume+ and power key. it shows error only.
i can only boot into fast-boot mode but to upgrade or downgrade i must restart it to recovery mode to clear data and cache and to update/downgrade firmware by ADP or side-load.
while connecting to PC, PC shows android is connected but ADP devices doesn't recognize any device connected in device list. what to do now please suggest. i didn't even installed boot-loader in my cell.
i also want to know how to pull my internal storage files to PC as i didn't backed-up my data because i just want to wipe cache. and it went out to so much of destruction.
Same issue here. I wanted to wipe the cache partition as it was mentioned it could be a possible fix for the flickering screen, vertical lines of discolouration, and freezing of the graphical interface unless the volume is changed/notifications screen swiped down which forces a GPU refresh or something of that sort.
This happened since the latest update to the Asus Zenfone 2 firmware. Please fix this ASUS.
The new way to enter recovery mode when the dead droid bot appear is to hold volume down + power then press volume up then release all button.
My wife's phone is stuck on the AT&T screen when booting. I am able to get into download mode, but am unsure of what to do next. I've downloaded the PC Suite and Mobile Support Tool (which seems to be more recent) from LG but in both cases when I do the update recovery I can't get it to work. The phone is totally stock, no root or anything, and as far as I know had the latest updates.
Can anyone help me bring the phone back from the dead?
This would probably work=
Ensure the device is power off.
Note If screen is frozen, remove/reinsert battery.
Press and hold the Volume Down button then press and hold the Power button. When the System recovery screen is displayed, release both buttons.
Select Factory data reset.
Note Utilize the Volume buttons to highlight and the Power button to select.
Select Yes.
Note Allow several minutes for the factory data reset and reboot processes to complete.
Hello;
I have a Samsung A22 which restarted on its own, and it got stuck on the phone's start screen (see photo). It shows as system notification: "Phone restarted: Unlock your phone to receive app notifications." even if the phone is unlocked.
Thanks.
Try to boot into Recovery mode.
Restart your phone and hold Volume Up and Power button for some seconds, then release the Power Button when the screen shows the Samsung and Android logos, then few seconds later release the Volume Up button and it will boot into Recovery mode.
Navigate with volume buttons (Up and Down) and Power button for Select. Do Clear cache, select Yes for confirm (make sure it is not wipe data, or else it will erase your data), when the Cache is wiped, then select Repair apps, and automatically the phone will restart and will be optimizing the apps.
I hope this can fix your problem, In case it doesn't work, try Safe Mode to see if it's not a problem of a recently installed app.
