Hi,
Running Black 3.0.1. Is there anything in particular that I need to do to get video calling working?
When I try to make one I get a message stating:
"Fail to make the video call. What do you want to do"
???
are you in 3g?
Yeah, I'm wondering if it's down to signal quality. I went to see the phone company in a mall over the weekend and we tested it there. It worked fine for both incoming and outgoing.
As soon as I got a bit away from the mall though it's stopped again. The phone is showing either full 3G or full H connectivity though?!?!

The person that r u calling is under 3G?

(worked fine with wm5)
hello guyes, i was searching all over the internet to find an app for my htc desire to enable video-calling. i found many apps but they are all skype similar, they need internet connection. is there any app or mod that can enable simple video calling through 3g network (not data plan)? i have greek carrier with free minutes of calling and video-calling. thnx in advance
You do know that the Desire does not have the front-facing camera for video calling, right?
Would video calling work without the front camera needed for it? Do you intend to use the 5MP camera on the Desire for a video call and keep switching the phone to see your partner?!
yes i am aware it has only one 5mp cam, i can solve this issue simply with a mirror. i used to have sony erricsson k800 and used videocalling a lot thats. i am very pleased with my htc desire but im a bit dissapointed from this asspect with android phones not supporting video call. but i suppose someone can develop an app or mod to enable videocall
Two options
Qik and Tango both claim to do video calls on 3G. I haven't tried either but if you do post a reply with whatever works...
i tried tango, it requires data plan if on 3g which means internet connection, i will try qik and post a reply
qik is the same thing
Is there a way to make a normal carrier video call (not one using 3G data or WiFi) ? A friend of mine has the option with his GS1...
If he's making a video call, he's definitely using 3G data.
The only thing I can think might be happening is that his carrier doesn't count the data that's used for carrier video calls and charges him some other way?

nope, his 3g data connection is turned off. The thing is that he has the simple option to make a voice OR video call without using 3rd party application...here the carrier based video calls are free(costs the same as a regular voice call) but seems like the Gnex doeant have such option.

AOSP does not support video calling through carrier, and it will never do. Samsung have made this available on their own handsets. The reason...probably because the US doesn't support it, or that Google wants people to use Google voice instead?

With t-mobile saying that all their phones are going to be WiFi calling capable, what is the chance of finally getting WiFi calling to work on aosp or cm in near future. Hoping @DocHoliday77 had an educated answer as always.

Are you referring to Tmobile's Wifi calling or to the Google Voice Hangouts Dialer?
I'm curious to know if anyone has ported their Tmobile number to Google Voice and successfully replaced wifi calling with hangouts voice calling.
I picked up this phone a few days ago and I just noticed that VOLTE wasn't working like it should. The settings menu shows that I have the option on, but everytime I make a call or receive a call it instantly switches from 4g to 1x, and therefore I don't have simultaneous voice and data. Anyone have this issue too?
I checked my Verizon account to see if that feature is enabled for my line. Advanced calling shows that VOLTE is on for calls and video chat. Turning it on and off doesn't change anything, turning wifi calling on and off doesn't affect it. I've tried rebooting, and no luck. Seems like a software issue?
I noticed this on a call today as well. Subscribing...
Perhaps the person on the other end needs it as well? I've found calls between my girlfriend and I would switch from HD to non-HD and it seemed like it was due to service on her end. Just a thought. Its actually only happened a couple of times to me.

No luck with that one either. I've tried calling other lines on my plans and I got the same results. My S5 did a pretty good job maintaining HD Voice every time I made a call to those lines where LTE coverage was available.
I called CS and they didn't say it was a common problem, but they put in a report pretty immediately for me and should have someone contacting me the next 24-48 hours.
Just a quick update. I didn't do anything, I used my phone as is and it just started switching to HD voice and maintaining LTE while calling. So either they did something on their side, or the phone is just a little buggy.
I have never had that VoLTE icon pop up on my phone but if I look in my recent calls list I do see a Wifi icon on some of the calls.. I assume this is VoLTE??

That's WiFi calling.
I have used WiFi calling and it seems to work alright. Is this the same as VoLTE? If it is not how do you enable VoLTE?
I just found it in settings, it is enabled however I have never seen any kind of an icon that it is working. How do I know if it is or isnt?
Where is the setting for VoLTE in Settings? I am not seeing it anywhere.
EDIT: A google search showed me it should be in call settings, but it is not there. Any help much appreciated.
