Hi, this happened to me this afternoon, picked up the phone to answer a call and in the menawhile pushing volume rocker up... ended up bended (pictures attached)
I contacted google and luckly they will send me a replacement.
Have anyone had issues like this?
anyway, google support is extremely efficient, I have been surprised
No such issue to be honest? That looks like you pressed the middle of the button rather hard.

I do not know if somebody faced this problems before or not:
1- The soft-keys, dial key, call drop key, and the scrolling keys; are always while pressing them for long time does not response until turning off the screen by pressing the power button then turning on again to keep working for awhile then same thing happen again.
2- The screen is sometimes fade to be completely white & brightness more, and everything hidden until turning off the screen by pressing the power button then turning on it again
If anybody knows how to fix this matter please provide me with the solution.
Thanks for all concerned
I had the same exact problem... I fixed it by getting a warranty exchange from AT&T!
I have the same problem! Unfortunately my phone is not covered by warranty. I think it's a hardware issue because I changed a number of ROMs and the problem persisted. I don't know what to do, it's driving me nuts!
Help anybody???
Good news!
Ok, as far as the key problem goes, using the PDF file about HTC TyTN where you can see how EXACTLY to disassemble and assemble the TyTN I took the courage to open up my TyTN and pull up the motherboard and clean everything up and close it tightly back. However I did not completely disassembled it as the manual shows because I did not want to remove any stuff that's glued like the rubber parts and the metal tape that holds the keyboard connector. So basically, I did not reach the part where the soft keys are, but somehow miraculously my keys are working nice again! I guess the problem was just loose connections and probably it was loosing contact somewhere because keys worked sometimes and then suddenly stopped.
Anyways, it's been 2 days now and the keys work perfectly and my TyTN is not so loose like it's going to fall apart as it was before!
P.S.
I haven't noticed the white screen problem also but it's been only 2 days and it wasn't happening so often before anyways.
This issue is known -there are threads in hermes section, search for white screen..
Its a harware issue with XILINX coolrunner(if I remember it right) on the front keypad below screen.. It propably has some bad solders under it -mine went so bad that it showed only white screen until I disassemled the unit and pressed directly the chip with my fingers
Then I bought a new circuit from cnn -at the moment it had those boards for sale, not anymore. That fixed my problem.
Among the threads someone got his/her phone to operate again by putting something between the cover and the chip..
I had the problem on my handset and managed to fix it by cutting up a piece of card..be it and old credit card or whatever to the size of the recess that the chip fits in...this pushes against it nicely and since then only had the problem reoccur once...then it was cured by just putting the handset into standby mode and back to normal again
Hello everybody,
I have an HTC Desire that has a problem with the volume buttons. The buttons were working until I dropped it on the floor. The phone had a silicone case and screen protector so it seemed fine until I tried to adjust the volume but it wouldn't work both up and down. I verified the problem by trying to go into the bootloader using vol-down + power but it wouldn't work.
I noticed that before I dropped the phone the volume button was rather fidgety meaning that I could use my thumb to move the button sideways and make it pop out a little bit but despite all that the button worked and I was able to flash LeeDroid on it.
After I dropped it, the button seemed to stabilized. I could no longer pop it out or move it side to side it seemed like the button popped back in and was secure but the function didn't work. I can still hear the click but nothing happened.
So thinking that something was just loose, I decided to void my warranty (if I had one) and disassemble my Desire in order to fix it.
Once I got in I discovered that the volume button was not as simple as it seemed. It appears the "clicker" (the rubber circle piece that makes the click sound) and the actual circuit board that controls the volume is held together on a metal plate with black tape. This means the purple plastic piece has nothing to do with the functionality of the volume key it just pushes the clicker taped to the circuit board.
So I'm confused and stuck on how to fix this. I checked the black ribbon and it seemed to be fine, no tears or anything. I'm wondering how a drop could affect the volume button considering everything is held together with tape including the volume control circuit board and the ribbon that connects it.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this or anyone know what the volume circuit board looks like without the black tape? I'd like to fix the volume button so I can flash Gingerbread on it.
Follow this thread, it might help you

Ok guys, my volume rocker is not working. I replaced my power button because it had recesed too far to function anymore, and after i reassembled the phone, my volume rocker had stopped working. So, i disassembled the phone (have done so a few times now) and adjusted the rocker, but it seems the rocker connectors are not touching the motherboard contact points correctly. I can press it up and down but nothing happens. As you know, the rocker normally makes a "click" sound when you press it, but now there is no clcking sound. I'm hoping it's just a simple thing of matching the rocker points up with the motherboard and not some other more complicated issue that arose from me prying around inside the phone.
I've searched hi and low for a solution to this but have not found a specific answer. Just wondering if y'all had any ideas/experience with this. I'm thinking about taking some super-glue or melting a thin piece of plastic to the rocker in the hopes of making it contact correctly.. wanted to get some advice here before i go this route.
Frankly, I could get by without a volume rocker for a little while, though it is annoying, but I have an issue with needing to flash roms constantly...so...i'm sure you understand.

Hahahahhaaahhhaah. Lololol!!!!!! What a noob! Did you know in 9/10 instances a broken volume button means your a complete failure. It is also connected with a high percentage of impotence! That being said I hope things work out for you!

Well, my wife and children will testify to the fact that I'm not impotent. I'm in that 10% you spoke of. I don't ever fail, either... except at trolling. I admit that.

Hey guys,
So today my phone started acting up, the power button has become touch sensitive. As soon as I touch it or come close to it on either side of it, it acts as if I'm holding it down. I tore it apart to see if it was sick and it isn't so I can't figure out why it's doing that? Anyone ever had this same problem or have an idea of how to fix it?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This has become a common problem with our phones; do a search for "power button" and you'll find several threads reporting the same/similar problems. Some people seem to have managed to fix their issues by wiping the area with alcohol or re-flashing their recovery and/or ROM (I personally don't see how that could help a hardware issue, but whatever). In my case, as well as several others, the power button became permanently damaged, the phone was stuck in a vibrating bootloop and the only way to stop it was to take out the battery. I chose to have the power button replaced using the MobileTechVideos repair service. I wasn't 100% satisfied with their customer service, but the power button was replaced and my phone works fine now.
I suggest the same, I got my phone back a week ago after my power button got stuck.

I bought a replacement power button for my Sprint S2, and it looks like they now offer mail-in power button repair service too. Their feedback looks better than the experience you had.

Don't bother buying a new power button yet! I had the exact same problem, and it was throwing my T989 into a boot loop. Your most likely problem is that your power button internals are getting jammed up with dirt from your finger and lint.
Here is a thread with a person experiencing a similar problem. Here is another thread where I go into detail on how to attempt to fix your problem. You already have the know-how on how to disassemble your phone, so this should be easy for you.
HERE is the original thread that I found which addresses the problem you seem to be having.
CRC QD Electronic Cleaner saved me from having to replace the hardware and I haven't had power/boot loop problems since!
If you feel as if you don't want to over-do it with the electronic cleaner, you can give your entire logic board a nice rub-down with some Isopropyl alcohol (I got mine from a general pharmacy). You should be able to get the electronic cleaner from any auto shop, but I've had specific success with CRC QD Electronic cleaner. I don't know enough about electronics or chemistry to recommend any other brand/type, so if you can't get that specific brand, then I can't help ya!
I had a weird thing happen. Earlier today I dropped my phone from approximately 18 inches onto a laminate surface. The phone was in a protective case. After I picked it up, the power button wouldn't work. The rest of the phone was fine. No scrathes on the case, no other types of hardware failure or signs of damage. I opened the phone up, removed the motherboard and inspected the entire system. Everything seemed perfect. I inspected the power button and there didn't seem to be an issue. I put everything back together, while paying close attention to make sure that all connections were secure. After reassembly there was still no change. So I have a couple of questions:
1. Can I jump the connection between the two power button connections (which I believe is how the power button itself normally activates the phone) to see if that's where the problem is so that I can establish if the power button is in fact the problem? Or will that short something out on the motherboard?
2. Has anyone had anything like this happen, or know of a place where the power button can be bought, etc... Any suggestons are appreciated! =)
Thanks!
Edit: I was able to find the connections to the power button flex cable. The two terminals were loose and I was able to pull them out a bit using a wooden tooth pick. I now have good contact and the power button is working perfectly. I recorded what I did and will post a video on YouTube in case someone ever has this happen to them. I don't know why an 18 inch fall would cause this type of issue, but oh well. Fixed is fixed.
