I'm not sure that picture is evidence that the secondary camera works as it's pretty bright.
When the camera detects light levels below 10 lux, it switches from the primary sensor to the secondary sensor. The secondary sensor uses a technique OnePlus calls Intelligent Pixel Technology that combines the data from four physical pixels on the sensor into one pixel. This means the camera internally generates a 5 megapixel image that has the data from a 20 megapixel sensor.

Portrait mode is somehow working in other camera apps & ROMs and may not be relying on the secondary sensor to do so, but the low-light function doesn't in any that I know of.
Ahh that explains everything, thanks alot

camera

I have found that the upper camera is 12 MP while the sub is 5 MP however the camera apps is using the subcamera (used my finger on both camera to know which camera is used)
Is this normal?

Its the same as mine and I think its normal.
Same for me, but when I check photo's details, it shows me 12MP, so, I think it's normal too.
i think its used for focus
In theory, the second camera is used for focus and to give the photos a greater depth of field effect. But trying it myself, with stock, A2 camera, gcam and a couple other apps. I didn't find any difference between pictures shot normal or covering the secondary camera with my finger. Which makes me wonder if the secondary camera actually does something. I'd like to hear from someone who actually knows this stuff, not from me, who knows nothing

Is there a way to use 20mpx camera when using arnova Gcam?

Is there a way to use 20mpx camera when using arnova Gcam?
No. Only OP5 users can switch to tele lens.

Ok but, anyway, is 20mpx camera exploited by gcam to get better photo in some way or only the 16mpx cam is used in every situation so 20mpx is never "powered on"?

In OOS 20MP camera is used only in auto mode and portrait to detect depth. It shoots 20MP photo then magic OP software interpolate it to lower res to "improve quality and decrease noise" and then i don't know why, extrapolates that image back to 20MP. If i'm right it is written in camera HAL so we can't do nothing with it... Test it by Yourself, just type *#*#1597#*#* in dialer and take photo with "tele" and "wide" in sunny day.
I'm not sure 100% about it, correct me if i'm wrong.

Dialer? Why using dialer to take photo?
@rmroot You use dialer to input this code I wrote earlier. It opens camera app which now allows You to switch lenses manually.

Why google camera flipping of front camera photos?

I just can’t believe that the best market front camera does not have flipped photo mode, so disappointed.
The GCam Tool doesnt work :crying:
Is there any solution?
yes, i am disappointed too...
Hello, I am the developer of GCam Tool. I had replied to your Play Store review, with my email address ([email protected]), requesting you to get in touch. Nevermind, let me help you here.
First of all, could you please check your selfie using a third party gallery app like Piktures? Sometimes the gallery inside Google Camera app is slow to refresh thumbnail and so it might show it flipped but the actual selfie might not be.

What do you mean by flipped photo mode? My front camera photos all come out in the proper orientation, where the image matches the perspective of someone who is standing in front of me.
I'm using the gcam mod and it works fine. For selfies not being mirrored that is.
Apptuners you're right in saying Google photos is a little slower to update but it does work

But it is like a mirror reflection of what you see in the camera preview, isn't it? What you are saying is logically the correct way as even the writings on your clothes will be readable. Still I guess some people (myself included) prefer to have the output exactly as you see in the preview.

Thank you. That is great to know.
i hope google will fix this with an option to choose.
i prefer to see the same result as i see in my camera before i shoot
Glad I'm not the only one. It feels weird and unnatural when the picture isn't like in the preview. I know it's the way people see you but still I rather the pic be the same as the preview
what the heck are y'all talking about??

Hold something with writing on it in front of you while doing a selfie. The screen will display the writing backwards. But the pic will show the writing correctly.
I like it the way it is.
Thnk god now they have added a setting to save the selfie just as previewed.
i am facing the same problem, when i open the front camera in potrait mode it doesn't capture what it shows, it flips the image, i wish if there was an option to restrict flipping images...

Question SM-A528B camera sensor information?

Could anyone tell me what the maximum exposure/shutter time supported by the camera sensor in the SM-A528B is? I am on LOS and OpenCamera only lets me set it up to .5 seconds. I could barely find any information on which camera sensor this phone even uses, most websites state contradictory things and the named IMX chips are nowhere documented.
A52s actually comes with different camera modules depending on the individual unit.
I do not know what LOS is exactly, probably an alternative OS install?
With a regular Samsung firmware you can do a very weird trick, in the phone dialer you can dial the number
*#34971539#
which will bring up a debug menu in which you can choose 'module info ver check' which will then list the codes (not the actual names) of the camera sensors. But I doubt that trick will work with non-Samsung firmwares (google the number for more info).
If you bought your phone in Western Europe, the main rear sensor is very likely the SONY IMX682 (code F64ESNGR1SM). If you bought the phone in India, it is likely a Samsung sensor, most likely SAMSUNG Bright S5KGW1 (code F64ELNGR3SM), but there are other Samsung sensors out there in A52s's as well. I do not know about other regions (I have IMX682).
With regards to the shutter time, I think it might actually be unlimited. Unlike the A52 (so without 's' at the end), astro mode in MGC can be configured for many minutes with A52s.
At the very least, pro mode in the default Samsung camera app allows you to manually set the shutter time to 10 seconds.

That's all for the main rear camera sensor actually. Other sensors are the ultrawide rear camera (S5K3L6), macro rear camera (S5KGW2), depth rear camera (S5K3J1) and the front camera (IMX616/S5KGD2)
