Is anyone having the problem i am? I go into twrp and try to select my usb otg and it shows the option, but when i try to tap it, it does not check it, like it is not there? I have a 32gb s6 edge+ and the backup takes up 10gb of space. Im trying to keep that backup on a memory stick so if i have any issues i can connect that and restore instead of keeping the 10gb backup on my phone? Any help would be much appreciated!

Ok I screwed up majorly. I was in CWM which I had just updated to the newest version with orange text. I had finished a factory restore and cache wipe, wanting to flash the Cyanogen RC1. Well while playing around I ended up in the partitions menu and tried backing out with the power button, which apparently is the wrong procedure now that the back button is enabled in recovery. I believe I ended up selecting the 128MB partition with OM Swap (no idea what to do with these never used them before). I ended up not able to see my sd card and am stuck with phone with no ROM. I have only connected to a work computer without admin rights, the phone comes up as three removable drives that I am unable to open. Any Help Please.
I have another 2GB SD that came with phone, so when I return home I can flash CM7. My main worry is recovering the data on the card with old back ups, especially Titanium Back ups of Apps. Thanks to anyone who takes time to read and try to help.
In recovery, under Mounts and Storage there is a USB mount, so you may try that to see if you can get to your SD card. If not, then take it out and put it into you computer (if you don't have a card reader, there are USB readers you can buy). See if it comes up that way, and hopefully nothing got erased when it was partitioned.
Hello,
I recently flashed to CM. I then wanted to flash to stock so that I could update the PRL. When I did I accidentally wiped the Internal flash memory. I had a bunch of pictures and video that I'd like to recover if possible. I've found that all the disk/photo recovery software requires USB Mass Storage so that the card is recognized. I am unable to get USB Mass Storage on my Galaxy S3 and SGS3 UMS App seems to only work for External SD Cards.
I was unable to find a way to use adb to mount the drive, but if there is I'd appreciate the help.
Is there a way to mount the internal flash memory so that it is recognized as a hard drive that can be scanned by the data recovery software?
Phone: Sprint Galaxy S3 16gb
Recovery - TWRP 2.3.0.0
ROM - CM10
Thanks
Samah
I do not think you are going to be able to mount the internal storage (which appears as the internal sdcard) as Mass Storage that is going to allow you to run a normal recovery program. There are android apps (such as Undelete For Root) that would do what you want from the phone but as far as I know they only support FAT partitions. The internal sdcard of your phone is not FAT (I believe it is ext4) even though it looks as if it is. It still may be worth trying Undelete For Root... nothing to lose!
You may be out of luck, but keep looking.
Hexamob Recovery has support for ext4. I have never used but it may be your only chance. I be curious to see if it works.
It does look like Hexamob may work (according to the claims). There is a Hexamob Recovery Lite that is a free app and also a Pro version that is pay.
Hexamob Pro worked
I've now tried both suggestions.
The Undelete for Root didn't work as it does not recognize exFat.
Hexamob Lite was unable to find anything to recover, but the Pro version worked. It seems to be able to recover a set number of files each time it's run. After running it a few times, I was able to recover a good number of the pictures.
Thank you.
I am happy that Hexamob Recovery worked for you, I cant stand losing pictures.
Me either. I downloaded at least 6 different disc/photo recovery softwares to get my photos back.
Can someone tell me how to change the subject of this thread to [Solved]? I think that's what I'm supposed to do.

I could be wrong but if use CWM with an OTG cable it should work fine. In CWM you need to mount your "external sd".
After the backup is done; boot up, open a file explorer, have the OTG cable plugged in and go to /sdcard/usbStorage/sda1 and you should be able to see your backup there.
Remove the MicroSD card before proceeding to do anything to avoid any issues with the OTG cable or Flash Drive.
I believe TWRP has an OTG mount mode as well.

Yes i have tried in all of them to mount the usb drive but none have the option to save to the sda1 "usb" its weird i use twrp on my htc one and it does it on there i also used cwm, twrp on my droid x2 and they did it there i also have tried multiple usb sticks from 4 gig 16 gig 32 gig 64 gig and a 128 but no luck. I mean its not that big a deal i can copy it off to my computer but would be nice to be able to do it direct
Hi guys, I have been on Lollipop for very long. Marshmallow is here but i have doubts before installing Marshmallow. I have setup my friend's phone after upgrading to Marshmallow. There is an option at the beginning to choose to setup SD Card. Use as a portable storage or Use as internal storage. I chose Use as a portable storage and it is working fine but while trying to download something it does not work. For example, tried to download facebook picture but got some error. While using it as internal storage, it will format data first (which could be backed up). If i use it as internal storage and phone has issues and needs to be formatted without backup, i will loose all the data. Suggest me something guys.

I think it might be a bad flash. What ROM are you using? Nameless or OMNI?

I'm talking about the download problem. Cuz, I can download just fine on marshmallow ROMs, even after choosing the first option.

have you checked the permissions for the app? Should enable access to "storage".
I have the TM800 (6.0.1 ironrom) and use OTG with it.
I connected a hard drive to my tablet and it Prompted me to reformat the hard drive. After I did that all my apps that I have moved to the SD card stopped working, once I disconnected it, everything went back to normal and I'm just trying to figure out why.
i am out of space on my tab s 10.5 16gb . pls waht rom should i use to be able to use SD card for installing apps, but i want this feature very stable, not experimental and buggy . thanks .

Did it offer to adopt the drive as extended storage?

It did not. I realized after some time that it was making this my primary storage over my SD card. Moved all apps ? to my tablet and then to SD card again.
