Hello everyone, congrats on your new phone!
I was wondering if there was any current development for gamma control on our displays? Coming from the a n5 with a horribly calibrated screen, franco's amazing kernel was the answer to my prayers. I know we have RGB multipliers, but gamma control would be even better! Does anyone know of plans or know of any news regarding this? Thanks ☺.

Hey all -
When I upgraded to the dinc2 I came from the original dinc (actually gave it to a buddy of mine).
Anyway - we were comparing phones and the Torch / flashlight on the dinc is SO MUCH BRIGHTER than the dinc2. The DINC on "low" is the same brightness as the dinc2 on "high," and the DINC on "high" is not even comparable - it's so much brighter. The dinc2 low vs high almost seems the same.
Anyone else notice this? Does the original Dinc just have a much brighter flash / leds than the Dinc2? Or is the torch app on the Dinc2 not working correctly?
Honestly never cared to notice. Its bright enough for me. Urs could be dirty or the led's could be dying..

Unless it's a defect on your specific phone, I have found that other apps make the light brighter.
Try using tesla led and see if that works better. My light is super bright and i've had no issues.
I have always like the Brightest Flashlight App. Works great and I've never had issues with it. Hella bright IMO!
I know most of us hopefully none of us have this issue. I run into a lot of customers who say there camera sucks or flash sucks and it is due to them not removing the clear film that protects the camera and led during shipping.

Thank you!
I have scoured the web, and I cant seem to find anyone else with this issue. I too am an ex-DInc user and upgraded to to Inc2, both were flashed with cm7. The inc2's torch app is exponentially dimmer than the DInc1's, its really bugging me and I'm considering trying to find out how to modify a flashlight app to tweak it or something. I posted a thread on the CM forums as well, so if I do get an update I'll try to follow up on this post too.
My wife has a dinc and I also agree that her leds are brighter but I think the high setting on cm7 or cm9 are bright enough for me

Finally someone who agrees! I think most don't have the 2 phones side-by-side so its hard to make a comparison. I'm guessing that the LEDs in the dinc2 just aren't as powerful as the dinc1.
Initially, I planned to flash franco kernel to get rid of the purple on my screen. I flash AOKP first, and the purple is completely gone. Should I still flash franco and could it bring the purple back?
The purple as you define it, can either be a hardware fault as it is for some, or it's just a matter of what color multiplier settings/gamma settings you have.
With any kernel that supports editing it, I say go ahead and flash. Francisco's franco.Kernel, Morfic's Trinity kernel and Ezekeel's GLaDOS kernel all have their own app for very easy kernel-related tweaking! Though they cost a few dollars each, I say they're worth it.
Flash Trinity. Colors will even be more amazing, especially your whites.

It's not like this is trinity specific. You can achieve the same colors with all kernels.
Trinity kernel and their whites
May the Trinity kernel adds bleach to their whites?

I know. But Trinity comes stock with those colors. On other kernels you'd have to mess with the gamma colors.

I switched from Galaxy S2 some 3 months ago and really loving this device. The only thing I am missing about S2 is the colour saturation that display provided. OK some poeple hate that level of saturation but I simply loved it. Is there any way we can increase the saturation or make the colours pop a bit??
Lowering the gamma will make a pretty significant difference
Are you rooted or running a custom kernel? This is going to be the best way to customize the colors that you are looking for. Get the trickster app and a kernel like Franco or faux.

So it's been 4 months now and I still have not found a solution to this mic issue. Here is a video I recorded lastnight at a club. You can hear the tinny-ness and the distortion breaking up. Iknow Iknow......I KNOW, "It's a phone, what do you expect"? But I've been spoiled with my last Samsung Galaxy S4G, with Voodoo Sound on board .It allowed me to adjust the recording level. It seems like everytime I ask about Voodoo Sound being available for our phone, people assume it's because I want the audio OUT features, but actually I want the mic preset controls. Supposedly irig was coming to android at the begining of this month, but it's 24 days late, so far
I don't see much mention of the mic issue on xda, so maybe no one cares. But I figured I'd ask if anyone has a solution thus far... or any roms with it ported... or kernels that are compatible?
Thanks everyone!

PS. I don't know this band,,, it's not selfless promotion
There are a few ROMs that have voodoo compatibility. I know vanilla rootbox does, its AOSP, in the AT&T section. Tweaked might be adding it in the near future as well. Tweaked is TW based and an incredible ROM.
TWEAKED 1.4™
Thanks! I searched for tweaked but I'm coming up with a lot of threads. Do you have the link?

There you go. Enjoy.
TWEAKED 1.4™
Was a previous Fascinate user (as a PMP-only), till I inadvertently knocked it into my bed-side trash bin and took said trash out I loved the modified ICS-based AOKP that Icy Glitch did, but more specifically their kernel that was included! When I got the Epic 4G (non-touch, don't worry lol) I started looking around and Nyan Colonel looked like my cup 'o tea with all the tweaking options Marcusant included; however, not only could I not find a working link to it anywhere but the last version wasn't even available for JB Right now I'm running Nitest (Effsi's), and that actually appears to be the only stand-alone packaged Kernel available for the D700 as well. I'd honestly give compiling one a try except I'm stuck with WWAN home internet and a 5GB limit per month that 2 others use on occasion. :crying: As such I rely on the smarts and abilities of you fine XDA'ers :highfive:
At any rate, as I've no experience with Linux I do not know how complicated these requests are, so please excuse my ignorance lol. But to me it seems like certain features (commits?) are fairly modular in nature and appear as though they are almost "a la carte". If it's harder than it sounds, by all means let me know and I'll be content with what is available.
If anyone does take up my suggestion, which not to try and dictate anything, but the one thing that is a must-have for me is Voodoo Sound. I use this Epic as a media player and not a phone, which without Voodoo Sound the audio quality (specifically with earphones) is overly-bright and defeats the sole purpose I have it for
That being said, while porting Icy Glitch (Git Hub, XDA Thread) to the Epic 4G would be awesome, I do realize that is likely going to require the most work and so I don't really expect it to happen. However, what I'm primarily interested in is the ability to LiveOC, as on the Fascinate I found that even running at 101(%, MHz?) offered a significant boost to performance, in particular I/O's. While I may not always use the max achievable overclock, I did always keep it at 101 for at least the benefits it provided, but it's always nice to have more performance available literally at your finger tips!
Nyan Colonel v5 (Git Hub, XDA Thread) had it all though, and was even for the Epic 4G! I don't know if he took it down because he moved on to the Nexus, or what Though, I suspect the fact he moved on is why he didn't reply to my PM a few weeks ago, which is understandable and I'm sure he gets asked a lot :\
As for "Custom?"... If someone has their own kernel, or have one they are working on, this would be my "wish list" of stuff to have:
LiveOC [His XDA Thread for the LiveOC Git location links to HERE (108MB), but he also has a repo for "Nexus S ICS" which if new=better then that is HERE (118MB).]
- If not part of LiveOC: Frequency multipliers up to 1600MHz for CPU w/o modifying base frequency,
individual GPU clock control (possible?), individual RAM clock control (possible?)
Voodoo Sound [For D700]
- Preferably offer a version with and without Voodoo Color, as some users need/like it, yet for me I get
unfixable color issues
Governors & Schedulers [Nitest, at least Effsi's ver, has a bunch to pick from. Can you have too many?]
- Scary gov seems to do a good job of keeping CPU freq low (100MHz vs 200MHz) and scaling up
quickly, giving me no instability problems at 1200MHz. 'fifo' sched has been working well for me, but
I was not able to notice any performance differences between any of the choices through Quadrant benchmark
USB Hub [Looking to try out connecting my Xonar U3 USB sound card for shiz-n-giggles, but USB flash storage would be a benefit!]
Latest Linaro & Linux Kernel [Doesn't have to be newest, but fairly recent would be nice heh]
- Compiled with "O3" optimization flag, as it does seem to help some.
BigMem [As having a camera is quite handy! (Not sure if it pertains to vid playback as well)]
I'm sure there is more but let's be real, I'm probably pushing my luck the way it is! lol Though if lots of people showed interest and provided more tweaks/features they'd like, I kinda think it'd be cool to have an Epic 4G "XDA Community Kernel"
Thanks! (Especially if you made it this far lol)

Thanks man :highfive: I do, too (obviously lol)
Also, thanks to whomever moved it to the right forum for me, wasn't quite sure where it belonged.
