Do you have USB debugging checked in development options? If you have, uncheck it and try again.
If you're using a kernel with fast charge make sure it is disabled.

Root without unlocking bootloader

Hi there!
I would like to know if there's already a method to root this new nexus 7 without unlocking the bootloader, like motochopper method for the 1st gen. model.
Thanks!

Just root and then re lock the bootloader that's what I did

IMO you are better off leaving it unlocked.
Yes, i know it's the right way. I'm not concerned about warranty, i live in Brazil and there's no warranty for me once this tablet isn't officially available here, got mine last week in the usa, the thing is that i forgot to root before setting it up, and now I'm just not in the mood to wipe it for unlocking the bootloader and put it all back in afterwards.

OTG without root/unlock?

Can I use OTG without root on my N7 2013?
And if I use the boot loader unlock and root toolkit will app+data be erased from my device?

Should work out of the box, but there's this bug affecting the majority of users that doesn't recognise the otg-usb. However there are workarounds and it worked for me.

Nexus 7 USB port repair

Here guys I've broken my USB port for sure. I had it charging when it slipped off the table and DDT'd on the charger cord. I knew it was broken before I picked it up. Now I'm stuck using a wireless charger, which is cool, but doesn't charge as fast and now I have no way of connecting it to the computer. Has anyone had any luck repairing their's or a company that will do it besides Asus. Maybe a part?

I don't know about where you can get it repaired but in the meantime use airdroid to file transfer wirelessly to your computer

USB Tethering

Is it possible to tether via a USB cable to a phone?

Probably, but WiFi tethering would be much easier.

USB is more secure.
I just ordered a pixel c last night. I can test with my Nexus 6P when it comes in for you
Also another reason for this is if you want to share a purchased wifi connection with another device (ex : Airplane or Hotel wifi)
Thanks. I was able to test it and it worked.
