Is there a good app that shows you a break down on what apps are using your battery the most? Right now I just look at the battery use under settings (running cm7), but I was wondering if there was anything more detailed.
Thanks
I'm sure there are others, but Spare Parts also has some pretty good info.
I use Battery Monitor Widget and it shows basically any kind of Battery info I can think of.
"Battery life " one of the most important aspect of a great overall android experience..This guide is to help you get the max out of your battery and getting that little extra performance out of your S4 pro (yes,,no performance degradation here )
This guide is compiled over a duration of time and have been tried and tested by me
Following are the steps for that lil extra juice :
1)Root(obvious )
2) download greenify (a must-have by oasis feng)and greenify almost all apps(including games) expect some messaging apps(apps shown with gcm logo in greenify) ,,,and if you want to get that lil extra minutes then go for the donation version of greenify, it lets you greenify some system apps to....also don't kill apps with appkillers(real battery hog)
3) Switching Stamina mode On(especially after the 4.2.2 update)...and carefully selecting only "most needed" apps to be excluded (if you don't want to break notifications)
4)download startup manager..and disable all unwanted apps at startup
5)remove all unwanted bloatware and battery saving apps(they usually do nothing to save your battery, instead they run in background and eatup your battery)
6) no under-clocking, no over-clocking
7) maintain a healthy battery charge history ( don't charge unless battery is less then 20%.,,then charge without interrupting to 100%(don't keep it charging for to long if it reaches 100%,,this will over-charge the battery)
8 ) If you're on 4.2.2 ,,surely you're facing the battery bug, which is really dangerous for the battery (because it bring the battery % down to zero ,without giving you a chance to reach your charger)....So to fix this you'll need to recalibrate your battery by downloading easy battery calibration from playstore (I've calibrated my battery and fixed the bug )...the app will guide you how to calibrate the battery(easy)
9 ) Don't use the "trickle charging" method recommended by some battery saver apps...I've used that method and it shows no improvement in battery life instead it'll drain the battery in a very strange manner ("modern"Li-on batteries should not be trickle charged Google it if you need more info on this subject)
10) some suggest under-volting...it'll surely get you that extra "precious minutes" but you must be brave enough to try that out..
Use this tricks and you'll definitely notice improved juice
If you'll like to add more "tested tweaks" to this guide let me know...
More tweaks and tricks for a better battery going to be updated soon(as soon as I'll test and confirm them)...
If you feel that I've helped you in any way,,please hit the thanks button

Undervolting is effortless and harmless, so is underclocking.

Very nice and welcome tips. Thanks a lot mate.
Thanks. Lower the number of widgets you use helps a bit too.
What does the stamina mode do exactly ? I like to to toggle everything myself to be sure nothing is left behind (Data, Wifi, Gps, NFC, Syncing (apps/widgets/accounts), Bravia engine, Brightness...)
VERY happy with my great battery life ! Rooted, battery calibrated and never use stamina since I control manually. But if stamina does everything I do mamually then ill use.

I don't know if anybody has noticed this but there's no hibernate now widget for greenify I'm wondering why the xperia home launcher won't allow it but nova and others recognize it :/ I also complained on the app market to the developer in hopes that they notice and fix it by some chance.

Thanks for the tips. Applied most of em mentioned. Just wondering if sony used batteries similar to the note 2. We could use our phones much efficiently upto a couple of days
Javascript
Hey you might like this, I noticed that using the browser uses loads of power. Apparently javascript in the browser uses a lot of battery (search google for "Who Killed My Battery: Analyzing Mobile Browser Energy Consumption"). I've turned off js by going to Chrome, Menu, Settings, Content Settings. Hopefully this will eke out the battery a little bit more!
Hope this helps
Edit: After just a day of js turned off, I'm already finding some websites insist on it being turned on, which is annoying. I had hoped js would be more optional, but for some web designers it seems to be required. Oh well.
Nice try... Do you know if other browsers can be a way around ?

Blinkfeed has high battery usage on my Android HTC One M8. Not necessarily high _cpu_ usage, from what I see in SystemPanel (3rd party app), but Blinkfeed consistently accounts for between 15-30% battery usage in battery stats. The gap between its battery usage and any other app's batteryusage is huge. It's like 27% versus between 3-5% for all other apps. Blinkfeed appears to be non-removable. I'd like to know if there's a way to disable or cut down the battery usage without using a custom rom. I had CM on both of my previous HTC devices but I'm not quite ready for it on my M8 yet.
I am also confused about how its extremely low cpu usage between 0-1% (from what I see in SystemPanel) correlates to its high battery usage in battery stats. Average consumption is 0.2%. The process name is com.htc.launcher. Could a different launcher help?

That still seems very high IF the system panel stats are correct, I think Blinkfeed is what the default HTC launcher is named, as I also noticed it still showing after disabling the widget. Have you tried another battery stats app like GSam? How is your battery life overall?

My battery life is pretty awful if I don't enable power saving mode.
I will try a different battery stats app, as well as a different launcher, just to have some data for comparison. Thanks!

Definitely worth experimenting to see what's what. I can't complain about my battery life, but I may well have different usage patterns, apps installed etc, so can't really compare. Generally though I get over a day on a single charge with around 4-4.5 hours screen on time.
Try nova launcher and freeze blinkfeed. It's a non issue for me. ?
Thanks for the tip on GSam. I've found that GSam and the stock Power app have vastly different ideas on how much battery usage Blinkfeed is responsible for. GSam has it pretty low, like 0.4% versus the 17% in the stock Power app.
I've started using the Google Now launcher, which is pretty cool, but I'll definitely give Nova a shot.
Thanks again!
Maybe you should try ge Rom without bf?

Hi cant find accurate answer about the issue of battery drain of fb app and messenger
so im asking us this true? they used more battery than other apps and also more ram used and still wake up even ur phone is in doze or idle? thanks for answering and sorry for my bad english
----------------------------
i dont know whats the meaning i installed betterbattery
please explain to me heres my screenshots
You can verify this by installing BetterBatteryStats, download here.
After installing, just let it get stats, use your phone like you regularly do, and then see the Partial Wakelocks and Alarms section to see the apps draining your battery. That being said, there are also other sections of the app that would give you detail to where your battery is going.
thanks ill try it
i have 16% in fb app and 14% in messenger alarms whats that mean? thanks
no fb apps on partial wakelocks
@t0per666 : What rom are you using there?
Yes, facebook has made a very bad app, which consumes large portions of ram, battery and also reduces performance.
Rather than using facebook official app, i recommend on using folio, folio uses less ram and battery but still not good enough.
Run far away from the fb app or anything connected to it. I access via my browser.
using official cm13 build march 17
Hello everyoane, first of all i want to pre-apologise for my bad english, i hope to be understood. My problem is, i bought a brand new Nexus 5x from my local shop (Altex from Romania) where it was exposed (exposed to be tested), and now i'm the owner, the problem is 1. battery life is awfull, it holds about 3 - 4 max in intensive use (music with fb/web browsing) and second problem what it is the biggest of all is that this phone doesn't hold in background the applications even 2 ( facebook and chrome) when i switch from one to other it reopen... what i can do to get the full perfomance?
Android version: 8.0.0
Root: never rooted
Format: once formated when i bought it
First : if you meant 3-4 Hours max of *screen on* battery , then its totally fine.. we all are getting that.
But if not , then try to reduce brighness , uninstall apps that take too much battery (you can find them under the battery menu, there it's written how much percent every app has taken), try to see if you mobile signal is fine or low (low signal can cause battery drain).
Second : about the multitasking, the Nexus 5x has 2gb of ram; it means it wont be able to hold a lot of heavy ram eaters together ..
Personally, I don't use facebook or skype on my N5x because I know they are battery eaters and ram eaters.
You can try to open the info of each app that you dont need in the background and tap on "Battery" then switch off the background activity..
You can try to instal custom rom from XDA and see if it can run more than 2-3 apps in the background(maybe the other rom will have some kind of more optimisation than the stock one)
P.s , you can use apps that can replace Facebook (like a lite version of Facebook) that use less ram , and then youll have ram to other things ..
Thanks for reply!
1. Yea my battery lasts about 4-5h in use, i understand now that is normal ..
2. About multitasking, i know that this phone have 2GB Ram, but before nexus i had huawei p8 lite with 2gb and it hold about 4 apps in background, and this phone nexus is more powerfull cant? this is the question that I grind....,
i never rooted this phone and i dont want it now, because it will erase my warranty and honestly i dont want to have deeper problems with it right now.
