Hi,
This morning I woke up to see my phone seemingly booting up but after a few minutes I realised that it was stuck on the boot screen. I can only assume something hardware or software related messed up while I was sleeping and now after reading a few threads I am very scared that my phone could possibly be bricked.
First up, I updated to 4.3 from 4.1.2 about 3 weeks and it has been running fine albeit a few annoyances at the new firmware Samsung deployed. To get root I had to install philz_touch_5.11.2 recovery through ODIN and then go into my new recovery to install root through Dr Ketan's Multi Tool which seemed to work well with no problems, it was quite flawless through the whole update. But now I guess something has happened to my phone and that has changed. When I saw it was stuck, I thought that it would be possible to just reflash to stock firmware and that would fix it. It was working up until the point ODIN got "cache.img" which failed the install. Now, I exited ODIN since it didn't work and restarted my phone and tried to flash the stock 4.3 ROM again. This time, immediately I got a screen telling me that there was "no PIT partition"
(Look at the attachment for the screen, I am new so no outside links)
and now I am getting the message on my phone after restarting "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." I am now downloading Kies to try this but does anyone have any suggestions or solutions?

Update: I spent the past two days trying to solve this and I'm at a standstill in progress. It seems that my phone was one that suffered SDS with a corrupt eMMC chip so I've lost both my firmware and recovery but I can still get into Download mode. It also seems like I have lost my PIT table and I am just completely unable to flash the PIT file back to the phone for some reason. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could just factory reset my phone or reinstall my partition table so that i can get a simple recovery installed? Please help
Exact same issue!
I know exactly what you are going through!
My phone did the exact same thing back in June. It downloaded the firmware update over wifi, then when it went to install, it restarted to the boot logo, and went no further. I had left it for a number of hours, so time doesn't seem to make any difference.
I've been working on it since the end of July, and haven't been able to find a solution yet.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like time would fix it, so frustrating. Right now I am getting the glass of my Note replaced (it has a slight crack) which apparently voids my warranty when I went into my carrier to organise a replacement. After it's repaired I will take it to another store and try to get it sent off to Samsung, hopefully they are understanding about it and will honour their warranty end as I do believe it was SDS so it would be their fault for using faulty eMMC chips. The only thing I wish I could do it just start over, flash the PIT file so I can just install CWM to see if any of my files are still there. I just want some peace of mind and it seems impossible at this point. I guess it is impossible to flash a PIT when the storage chip is corrupt, sucks to lose all my messages and data, just wish I had a backup in place but it is a good learning experience for the next time I have a functioning phone.

I was lucky having most of my info already backed up. I also had just upgraded another line, so I had a new phone to work with. It just sucks having to switch everything over to a new phone, reloading all the apps etc.
Hey guys, fairly new user here. Prepare for rambling explanation, skip a paragraph if you don't care but the background info may be useful
Had some issues twice in the past 4 months, had to send in the phone and get a replacement (thank God for JUMP insurance) ; I used purpledrake to root my G3 shortly after it was released, it is my first Android device and I had a lot of experience with jailbreaking and unbricking iPhones so I thought I could handle it. After rooting I didn't go crazy, mostly cosmetic changes and preset apps like G3Tweakbox, I stopped google services from running because I couldn't find another way to get rid of the OTA notification. Less than a month after I did it, I was starting to have issues that I read were fixed by the OTA update, so I went online and found the process to unroot so I could update, then re-root once it was possible. Ended up getting stuck in the download mode screen and the phone wasn't even recognized by the LGFlashTool as being in DL mode. Spent a good 16 hours playing with it, gave up, hard factory reset and convinced T-Mobile that I'm a helpless college student and my phone broke. Got a new one, rooted and didn't bother. Now, stupidly, I assumed I had just made a silly mistake along the way and decided to try again o Monday, day before my birthday. Same thing happens. Send it in, got another today. I'm kinda frustrated because I really want to root it and get things looking the way I want to again, but I want to make sure I can unroot it properly if need be. I don't think I'd be interested in using custom roms just yet, maybe if I get an older device to play with and experiment. I just want root access for file management and minor visual/technical changes.
TL;DR
-Rooted using PurpleDrake : http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/development/root-twrp-root-twrp-tmo-lg-g3-t2821005
-Phone was having issues, wanted to unroot/restore/reroot, followed this to the letter : http://www.androidrootz.com/2014/07/how-to-unroot-lg-g3-all-variants.html
-Phone got stuck in DL mode. Sent it in, got another. I want to root again but not until someone can figure out what I did wrong or what went wrong and I know exactly what to do to be able to unroot properly.
It could be your usb is disconnecting mid flash. Just to be safe you shouldn't use that pc for flashing tots or kdzs again. On the same note if you install TWRP you can use the linked guide to unroot/reinstall/downgrade/upgrade with root via twrp. Almost no risk of hard bricking if you used supplied files and guide. The only thing that could hard brick you in the twrp method is the rpm partition but that most likely wont happen, almost can't happen unless you loose battery power at the time it flashes the rpm partition. The tot and kdz method have about 20 partitions that could hard brick you. Http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/general/firmware-t-mobile-lg-g3-t2818667

Okay, thank you Page, I'll do some research with what you linked before I try anything again. Guess it would be a good idea to learn my way around the twrp, seems like the best custom recovery for the G3
Okay, I don't know what the deal is but I've now screwed my second device lol
I have a T-Mobile H811 on 10H, my second to be exact, and after I follow instructions for low level root and flashing a recovery, everything works fine! For as long as I stay on that rooted stock image...
The moment I flash anything other than the rooted stock image my device looses sound, becomes extremely slow and unresponsive, with the SystemUI crashing constantly and restarting. Shows lock screen, doesn't respond to touch, and if it does it's only for a brief moment before it freezes and then shows "Optimizing Android", rinse, repeat.
This persists through returning to stock with a kdz. Once it begins, it doesn't stop, which is why I had to return my first device...... and it looks like I'll be returning this one as well :crying:
I am no stranger to the game, I was not on 10N, I made sure to use the right COM port (the diag one), I make sure to only flash things for the H811, so what in the world is happening to my device when I flash other roms? My first device I flashed BlissPop nightlies and thought that might have been the reason, this time I just flashed a modified stock image. I for the life of me cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong or how to undo the damage once it's been done.
I still have access to download mode and TWRP
I am desperate for help... I cannot seem to find anyone else who's had this issue. Missing those Nexus 5 days D:
Thanks in advanced
EDIT: I flashed back to stock and took the 10N update (it was like pulling teeth) and everything seems to be working again... but I'd really still like some insight as to what I did wrong lest I do it again.
And now I flashed Bliss and everything is working just fine... strange
The phone automatically started to download an update (even though it was not set to do so) and upon resetting became stuck on a black screen with the notification lights blinking blue and red. I can restart the phone but once I do so the update automatically begins to start downloading the update again; even when I put the phone into airplane mode and disable wifi. I have tried to do a factory reset but that just makes the screen go black and the blue/red notification lights start to blink
I have no installed any custom roms or the like; I just use Kingroot in an attempt to get rid of as much bloatware as possible.
Is their some way of stopping the update from running whenever I boot up the phone so that I don't need to completely wipe everything and loose all my data?
People love to get update specially in case of D850 we get an update and you want to get rid of it. Why don't you simply, first, unroot it. Then get update and enjoy the new features.
By doing so you will also get the (maybe) final update for LG G3 on your d850 variant...

I can't unroot it at this point. I can't even do factory reset. I've tried the method using the LG Flash tool and the LG PC suite but neither works.
Can you explain what actually happens when you try to unroot and go back to stock. Is there any problem with download mode or LG flash tool show some errors while returning back to stock. If yes or no please explain in details

When attempting to use LG Flash too I get "model information check fail" after hitting start and reconnecting the phone
Try doing the process on another PC. Same error also happened to me while unrooting on my windows 10 laptop. Then i tried on other windows 7 pc and it was fixed. You can try for that (if didn't),
Okay, So let me start from the beginning so I'm certain I'm being descriptive enough.
The other night my G3's wifi stopped working. When I went to turn it on in settings it would turn itself back off. Which I thought was strange. So, I assumed it was a software issue so I backed up any important items and factory reset my phone last night. That went over fine. Wifi worked again, all was good. Until, it said it needed an Android Software Update. I hit "update" and allowed it to do its thing. About halfway through the update the phone said "error." With an icon of the Android bot with a hazard triangle sticking out from it. I let it be for a bit and nothing happened. So in my impatience I took the battery out and put it back in and tried to restart the phone. This is where the issue occurs. The phone keeps booting to recovery mode. I'm not savvy at all with Android so I don't know if these mean anything but it says "Android System Recovery <3e> LRX21Y" The phone has had zero modifications done to it. I would really appreciate any help or any tutorials that could save the phone until my g6 preorder comes in.
Thanks!
Kyle
Your phone failed the update for some weird reasons and is now stuck. I'm afraid you'll need to restore stock Android using LG Flash tools and KDZ files to your device. It will get your phone working, but you'll lose your data in the process.
You can try mounting the phone from recovery or download mode and see if you can access your data and backup the data. You can also try the recovery option without downloading wnloaing a KDZ first.
You can fins tutorials around the forum, in the general section usually.
