1) if your bootloader is already unlocked then yes, if your bootloader is not unlocked then no
2) don't know that's something that needs to be asked in the cm discussion thread
3) yes of course.. It's a nexus as long as you know what you're doing... If you don't then I suggest you read and learn.
4) with cm I believe encryption is on by default (see the "cm wiped my internal storage" thread in this section. I believe they talk about it). Besides cm that's something to ask in that respective roms thread. Edit: it was actually in the 6p forums but same should apply. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3257083
5) wait for Google to push it and enable it themselves..

It's possible, but your recovery won't see your data partition anymore. Which will make it difficult to flash other ROM's or updates for AOKP.
Swiftkey'ed on my CM9 Galaxy Nexus
I guess this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27844813 thread wasn't good enough, so a new one had to be started?

Thanks. I mostly use this phone just for business so I don't really flash it that often. I do record my calls sometimes, and sensitive things may be said. I read somewhere that "fastboot oem lock" and "fastboot oem unlock" will undo the encryption if I should need to correct?

Sorry, but the search option was missing from the site for me. (I'm stuck using IE at the moment) I did wind up manually going through about 10 pages of threads after making my post, but I wanted to cover my bases.

Lol. Just download the Tool Kit and the official Google 4.1.1 firmware that is available from their site (Links are in Development Section | Official Firmware links) make sure you know if your's is maguro or toro, then download the respective firmware and flash it via ToolKit.

Don't use a toolkit. Learn how to unlock bootloader and fastboot on your own as it is better than having it spoon fed
Did you try going into Settings > Apps > All Applications > Google Services Framework & Clear cache / Clear data? Sometimes doing that will make it work. Try that. Don't use a toolkit...

Let's not forget needs about toroplus.. don't need Verizon stuff on sprint. Adb is so easy! Use that! Toolkit is for halfa++ corner cutters
After you clear cache go to your dialer and type *#*#checkin#*#* and wait for confirmation then immediately go to settings about phone and update.
Based on the screen shot, it's gsm but build number isn't there. What build is the Op on? So far it's only yakju/takju, yakjuxw, yakjuxe, and yakjuzs that have jb so if he's on a different build and really want jb, then he needs to flash but if he can wait, then he has to wait still

Don't you look out for traffic when crossing the road?
Someone already got knocked over and you still want to try cross a highway.
Pics not showing on my end....and three simple words
fastboot oem unlock
Doesn't get easier than that.
And if just trying to get updates then do the checkin dialer. It forces the update to push
I was stuck on 4.0.3 for a week and just got tired of waiting and just rooted and loaded the stock 4.1.1 rom. This was my first time rooting and loading the rom. Wasn't hard at all.

Seems to be a yakjuxw from the new screen shot. Since you have gsm, it's maguro. You should be getting the jb update already

You don't need to root it to load the factory image from Google. You only need the bootloader unlocked and you can do it through fastboot. Really very simple That's your best bet. As far as the first toolkit, I don't think there's any harm in using it specially if you're just going to use it to flash the factory image and unlock bootloader.
Try going to menu, options, applications, scroll over to all applications and clear data on Google services framework, Then go to about phone, system updates. That's what I did for the ota jb.

Hmm okay thanks. That will void the warranty won't it? Is there a thread about it already in the development thread?

Do check out the threads made by efrant so you can see the processes for it. They're very simple and you'll learn a lot as well.

Not really. If you want to claim warranty, you can always lock the bootloader. And just use the toolkit from the thread in the development section. Remember you only have to do 2 things, unlock bootloader and flash factory image for 4.1.2.

I would agree with you completely. But I feel you're going to spend more time explaining it to someone who would rather take the easier way out than do all that. Yesterday had to explain to a 40 year old, father of two what adb was that I felt he was probably not ready to start sipping from the advanced user's method. I spent an hour trying to explain everything, what more if there was no toolbox?

I agree with you, but if there is no toolkit, it won't be like this, people will have to learn adb and fastboot. Forces the newbs to learn adb and fastboot.
Well since it seem like he only look at posts recommending toolkits, his on you guys...............
And yes, wrong section, questions goes to the Q&A section.

Sim unlock for S3 T999

Can anyone recommend a fast, reliable, reasonable unlock service? I've been waiting a week for T-Mobile to send me codes and I need these done reasonably soon

These are on 4.2.2, didn't want to download the rom/radio shuffle. But thanks for the pointer

Better said, I want to keep these absolute dead stock, not unlocked, not rooted, no custom anything. I took a look at the development thread with the older OTA's, is it that simple just to load 4.1.1, do this and then go back to 4.2.2? Can I do that with the internal 'normal' flash method? (downgrade?) or is Mobile Odin the ticket? Sorry for dumb questions .

Well, the only thing you have to downgrade is the radio. You can leave your rom/system as is, so long as its TW. If youre not willing to root it does limit your options....a lot.
The only real option you have is to flash any of the older official firmware using pc Odin. (Mobile Odin requires root)
I wouldn't go back more than one version to LJC, or you're more likely to be forced to do a factory reset. You may have to do this anyway though even if you just go back one version.

The bootloader that came with jss15r, question?

So I see there is a new bootloader that came with the newest flo update. People seem to be flashing it when using clean rom, but should it be something we should flash when on any rom?
This is my first nexus device so seeing a new bootloader is new for me. I'm currently keeping with aokp official builds right now, but nandroid to several roms trying others out.
When flashing a bootloader, does this always stay after other rom changes and nandroid switches?
Is there a way to go back to the old bootloader, does the new one affect going back to stock and relocking the bootloader?
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help with my questions.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
Once you update or return to stock using the factory images, the version stays the same and no need to flash it. I would recommend using the newest bootloader and just leave it be.
You can lock and unlock no problems with the latest bootloader. It will stay no matter what you flash to your device.

So I'm on the official aokp right now. I can just flash the new bootloader Scott made flashable in his jss15r thread and that's that?

[Q] Can I install rom Nexus 7 on Nexus 7 LTE?

I need to know can i install rom nexus 7 in android developer and/or original android developer on lte version and use same kernel?
This should work in most cases, but you won't have mobile data.
Edit: I shouldn't have to say this, but always make a back up first, because you never know what could go wrong.
