Hello,
I've recently bought a sw3 bit i have an iphone and when i par it with my sw3 it's missing a lot of stuff like wifi, Bluetooth ando i can't install apps.
Is there a way to walk around it? Is it possible that the app Android Wear will be as compatible with IOS like it is with Android?
push app with ADB in developper mode.
A watch made to works with android will probably never works well with an IOS system

In the description for android wear in the app store, it says that the smartwatch 3 is not compatible.
EDIT: actually it doesn't now. It did when I installed it on my work iPhone last week.
Try adb to install apps.
To push with adb it's necessary to make a root?
Is there a tutorial to do it?

1. Connect watch via USB. You need to have ADB debugging enabled in developer settings.
2. Open a command prompt window in the folder where ADB is installed on your computer.
3. Install app by typing "adb install appname.apk". Substitute "appname" with the apk's name.
The app Works if the smartwatch is paired with an iphone?

Afternoon all,
I'm hoping someone can help me before I smash my watch into a million pieces ...... I've had the watch now for about 3 days and still have found no way to put apps on it. If I try and open maps or Whattsapp it opens them on the phone. I have little icons in the start menu for music, find my phone, Fit and Google keep but nothing else.
I've seen a few YouTube videos where program icons can be accessed by swiping the screen left or right but mine doesn't do that. In the instructions I got it said compatible for apps for Android Wear would automatically appear on my watch..... this hasn't happened either??
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
You are correct the apps will automatically show up on the watch if you have them on your phone. Try downloading "Wear mini launcher" for quicker way of opening apps. That's probably what you saw on the video. Android Wear 5.1.1 will have a better start menu and will probably hit the Sony watch in the next week or two.
Is your watch connected to the phone? I'm guessing it is but if you're not seeing wear apps that should be there maybe go into the Android wear app settings and click "resync apps".
Also you should be able to open apps by getting to the OK Google screen and going all the way to the bottom and click "start...".
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the quick reply, I can see everything now apart from a icon for Whattsapp, any ideas?
It probably only displays notifications and isn't actually a standalone app. I don't use it myself so can't say definitely. There's no standalone hangouts app either but you can still send texts through it.
Thanks, your reply makes sense.
Q] Can't put apps on my Sony Smartwatch 3?

The Android Wear can't run any stand alone aps yet, however it might change in the future.I'm personally waiting for Google to make copying music like the smartwatch was a flash drive available

You can use adb to install standalone Android apps. Android Wear is still Android at its core. A lot have issues due to screen size and UI differences but you'd be surprised what apps will work. Got a few emulators running. You can push any file you want to the smartwatch using the adb command adb push filename /sdcard/.
You may have to be rooted but it's incredibly easy to root the watch. Can get a lot of cool apps running by playing with the DPI and such. Although some apps (games especially) will kill the battery rather quick as it's not meant for that stuff.

Yes, the apk you won't see anything on your phone it will sync to the watch.
On the app description, it says to use "open call" to open the app on watch, but I can't get it to open with that. I have to say, "open call app". Just an FYI
LG call works great on my Note 5 and moto360
Indeed... But I didn't like the fact that it passthrou the bluetooth, in a car (handsfree), for example. But I dont know how it could ne possible to make it.
I am not the best when it comes to rooting or understanding a lot of the rooting acronyms and verbiage. I've looked on the forum and still find myself with questions.
I just got the Huawei Watch and am wondering 3 things:
1. Is there any way to install apps on just the watch itself rather than on both the watch and the phone (Nexus 6P in my case).
2. How do I uninstall apps from just the watch and not the phone?
3. How can I remove apps that come preinstalled on the watch?
There is already a thread here somewhere that talks about using ADB to Uninstall apps on the watch that you don't need.
Yes I see that but it doesn't show me how to do it.

How does this not show you. Gives you all the adb commands:

If I uninstall the com.huawei.dailytracker so that I only have Google Fit does anyone know if this will cause stability issues with the device? Would it be better to just leave them altogether?
I'm essentially looking to do what I did with rooting, uninstalling any bloatware or unneeded apps. In this case the Huawei activity tracker and Google Fit are doing the same thing and taking up battery while running simultaneously.
I'm one of those people who hate the newer web wrapper based YouTube app and have been using the last native app they released. Nvidia was nice enough to bundle the native app in /system in their Nougat updates so that people like me could easily stay on that version. This has apparently changed in the Oreo update though.
Has anyone tried downgrading the app using either of the methods commands below?
Code:
adb install -r -d youtube.apk
Or
Code:
adb push youtube.apk /sdcard/
adb shell pm install -r -d /sdcard/youtube.apk
Download the APK here:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...ube-for-android-tv-android-tv-1-3-11-release/
I would try it myself but I don't want to be stuck with the new crappy app if the above fails.
It seems it doesn't work for system apps, at least on Oreo.
Any other ideas?
Moved /system/app/YouTubeLeanback to /sdcard/, rebooted, and was able to install it. Thanks.

I presume your Shield is rooted? Otherwise I don't see how that would work.
If it isn't, I'd be very interested in some more details though.

Youtube Premium...$11.99/month. I pay for family ($14.99/month for 6 google accounts).
Worth the price, at least for me and my family. Shared with my in-laws, brother and his wife (that $2.5/month/person). No ad at any time, Youtube Music (or Play Music) included.
Considering the amount of time we spend on YouTube I never looked back, especially since my kids are little and I do not want them exposed to stupid ads every 5 minutes.
Not the answer you were looking for!
Thank you, it's not bad idea.
Did you hear about YouTube Vance ?
It's possible to install this application on Shield ?
https://github.com/yuliskov/SmartYouTubeTV
Work great here on the Shield.
..
I'm not sure which OS is on our Shield (kids Xmas present tomorrow). I did have it hooked up briefly to set it up so it's ready out of the box. I didn't like the YouTube version installed because it defaulted to the system Google account. Can't be changed and no multiple accounts. So I installed smarttubeTV. Kids are used to it as that's what we use on fire TV. It allows multiple accounts so the kids can have their own with easy switching.

Curious if anyone uses Mac along with their android and what tools you use to manage it. I don’t own a window pc

I do. Havent tried DeX yet but I've some reviews that say you can use Dwx on the mac. May need to download an app. I have only used it with smart switch for transferring data with no issues.
DeX works great on mac I use it all the time and no issues

I tried "several ways" in the past. Nothing suits better than Boot Camp -> Windows.
- Eats up battery a lot, the T2 chip(late December 2017 and newer models) is not exposed to Windows for security reasons and remains as "unknown device" in Device Manager, but no other issues at all.
I use DEX in the Mac environment and it works great. It's the same as it was as a standalone on my prior devices.
