I wiped both cache and dalvik cache, the only thing i didnt wipe is preload bcz i cant find it anywhere on GearCm recovery.

Only one review and that says it is not booting. Is it booting or not ? Hows the performance and battery life of this kernel ?

Sorry . I tested the on darklord and is not starting. I will try to correct.

On V11, I have problem boooting. Every time I boot, it enter Twrp recovery. In Twrp, I hit "power off", it reboot back to recovery again.
Thanks for the new governer.

It doesn't boot.
Followed your instructions.
The phone doesn't show the Samsung boot logo but the LED stays on until it reboots automatically into recovery.
Had to flash another kernel to boot.
I'm using Touchwiz Core V2 rom.

I was just told by someone that more current versions of CM10 don't work. You'll have to install older versions and see what works. Can you post this when you find out?

you need to post more info than this.
what ROM did you flash?
what version of said ROM?
did you format all partitions before you flashed?
did you verify your download was good with an md5 checksum?
what recovery are you using?
since you cannot boot into your current ROM, because you have an outdated kernel flashed to your disk....but first pull your battery out.....
put battery back in
hold volume up, your home button, and the power button (in that order) until you see a small line of text flicker on the top of your screen, then release all buttons. you are now in recovery.
wipe cache 3 times
wipe dalvik cache 3 times
re-flash your current ROM
let it boot.
let it sit until the screen automatically turns off
after it boots...go to the original android dev section, download lean kernel 1.9 to your device, boot to recovery again, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, flash kernel. just a guess, but i bet that fixes it.
good luck

You actually don't have to wipe the caches at all. Just flash the kernel and you're good. There is code built in to kernels that takes care of the old kernel for you. And leankernel is NOT trinity.
Anyways CM10 just released a stable release today so I'll wait for trinity to catch up.

I understand lean kernel is not trinity. I told him to flash that one because it will actually boot.
And I instructed him to wipe caches because he needed to re-install his ROM... as it would not boot.

My apologies cobraboy, I skimmed through your post. I've been frustrated trying to get trinity. Cm10's kernel is actually performing very well for me, I have half my battery after a full day of normal use! I recommend installing the new stable version of CM10 and just leave the kernel alone.

[Q] Boot Loop, Need help!

i have been running the kiss kernel for a while now, last night i tried to flash the hellboy kernel and retern to my pacman rom. but it still boots, i have cleared all my caches formated everything but my sd card, have tried flashing all kiss kernels and multipul hellboy kernels, but never gets passed the boot screen.. any ideas?
i managed to get it to the android is upgrading.. starting apps thing, but it gets stuck there.
Did you wipe anything when you flashed the kernel? If the kernel was for jellybean it shouldn't hang like that... not sure?

Did you use the command
fastboot flash boot boot.img or just
fastboot boot boot.img?
Also, after flashing it,does the terminal say something like this?
Okay.
Okay.
Finished.
Edit:also, see that you are flashing the kernel in the fastboot screen(where it says 'fastboot usb'),and not in the Hboot(bootloader) screen.

i am using the all in one tool kit to flash my kernel, yes i am in fastboot, a window pops up runs through code and my phone reboots, i have changed the kernel on it before, but for some reason this time it wont boot properly at all, the phone is currently at the " android is upgrading" screen, it was the starting apps box with the spinning circle
if you say that it is stuck at android is upgrading - that's because the dalvik works and it is deodexing your gapps.
so i suppose you flashed kernel, flashed rom and gapps and rebooted. well this works from time to time but you have to reboot between flashing rom and gapps.
1. download this kernel: hellboy
2. go to bootloader and flash the kernel.
3. go to recovery and: do a factory reset + wipe system - no need for wiping dalvik or cache cause factory reset does them both.
4. flash your rom
5. reboot.
6. if it boots properly, reboot to recovery and now flash GAPPS package.

Does flashtool show any bad blocks?? Can you see the kernel logo??
Do you wipe your dalvik cache after changing kernel? If not then the rom will probably fail.
With full wipe?

Stuck at HTC welcome screen after flashing kernel

Hey,
I used the 18.5 version of Shpongle with the 14.5 version of HELLBOY kernel until today.
I tried to update only the kernel today to the latest HELLBOY (21.5), so what I did I booted into recovery (TWRP), erased only cache and dalvik, and flash the new version of the kernel using cmd, with these two commands:
Code:
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
After my One V rebooted, it got stuck on the HTC welcome screen (with the red development purposes warning) and I can't get out of it, all I can do is reboot then it comes back to that screen.
What did I do wrong? Can I fix that somehow? I can't seem to go back to recovery so it feels lost...
Thank you for any help.
Might be a bad flash. Wipe everything and reflash, then try to reboot.

Turn off the phone and quickly press volume down and power on to try to get into bootloader otherwise it will turn itself back on (happened to me before when I got a bad flash). Try to get into recovery from there.

Thank you! that's what I was looking for. I was hopeless. Thanks again!
Is there something wrong with what I did to update the kernel? I kept the ROM and just deleted the cache and dalvik and then flashed the new kernel. I just don't want to lose all the data so I'm hoping to fix it without wiping everything.

No there was nothing wrong with what you did to update the kernel, you were just unlucky and got a bad flash. If it still gets stuck try reflashing the ROM, without wiping data.
