Hey i was wondering how you flash a theme with CWM posts say download the file and then flash via CWM but which one do i choose update from zip or the other one ?.
Install Zip from sd card> Choose from sd card.
thanks mate just read pm to haha.
i accidentally wiped my internal storage while flashing jellybomb i am in twrp but have nothing to boot to how can i load a rom to boot to
Use Odin and download mode if you don't have a ROM on your external SD card to flash. I always keep a few different ROMs on my external in case something goes wrong which I have had happen before. You have to flash a tar file using Odin not a zip of a ROM

TWRP should give you option to mount as USB Storage, Can load rom onto your SD, Unmount, flash, and get moving again.
Hi all,
I am new to the android scene as I switched lateley from iPhone to the Samsung S4 mini LTE. I am glad to have the possibilities to tweak my phone and this was the main reason to switch
But! I'am done with the bloatware and want to install a new rom.
I would love to install [ROM][Android 4.3.1] SlimBean build.1.8-UNOFFICIAL GT-I9195 S4 Mini LTE on my S4 mini, but I don't know at what stage I have to start.
So far I have rooted my device allready a few weeks ago. At this moment I have:
Android 4.2.2
Baseband I9195XXUAMF5
Kernel: 3.4.0-g73af9ca ([email protected] #1)
Buildnumber JDQ39.I9195XXUAMF5
Status SELinux: Permissive
Secure Boot status: Samsung
CWM-based Recovery v6.0.3.3
When I am in Recovery mode, I get an error "Error mounting /external_sd!" when I try to mount it.
What do you people advise me?
1) make a complete clean install of my phone with the original firmware delivered by Samsung? And then what?
2) make a "wipe data/factory reset" with CWM? and then what?
3) Place the Slim Bean ROM on the external SDcard and then what? (I can't mount my ext_SD at this moment with CWM 6.0.3.3
I hope you can help me out with this!
Greetings from a newbie
1. Redo your rooting procedure to update your CWM recovery to 6.0.3.7
2. Make a backup of everything you need within your current ROM.
3. You can optionally make a backup using CWM as well. (Will take a while and recommend to store it in your external SD)
4. Download the SlimBean ROM into your external SD
5. Download the GApps zip into your external SD
6. Restart in CWM Recovery
7. Wipe data & factory reset
8. (Optionally) go to mounts & storage and format /data and /data/media (/sdcard) - this wipe your INTERNAL SD card.
9. Once done, install zip from external sd and select the SlimBean ROM zip.
10. Once that is done, install zip from external sd and select the GApps zip.
11. Reboot and enjoy

Thanks a lot for this description! Step one succeeded, I have now a fresh CWM (6.0.3.7)
Unfortunately I've got a problem with step 9 (skipped step 7 and 8 to check if it's now possible to mount external SD in CWM) but it is not possible to mount my external SD. Do I need to use a blanc SD card? On which filesystem do I have to format it?
It is very strange, but with my previous CWM version it wasn't neither possible to mount my external SD card.
I think there seems to be a problem with my 64gb micro sd xc, because with my 32gb micro sd card it is possible to mount it..
Thanks again!
It may not be able to handle the 64gb card even though the specs says it can.
Sandisk 64GB SDXC is known for almost always does NOT work propperly with SAMSUNG devices. Had one of these that never made it in the S4 and the S4mini. Just use any different SD card.

the i9195 can handle 64GB SDXC. But not the ones from Sandisk. Same thing with the big S4.

It is very strange, because with the original bloatware from Samsung there wasn`t any problem to use this Kingston card...
I think I have to downgrade to 32GB for the time being.. Which 64gb card do you folks advise me to buy to work in my S4 mini?
I need to root my note 3 but i have no access to the phone. I'm locked out and i don't want to lose my data. In order for me to use AROMA FM i need to root the phone and add a custom recovery. But how can i do that if i cant get in it?

#1: Remove the back of the phone and remove the microsd card (or buy a cheap one)
plug the microsd card into your computer then download a basic twrp flashable
rom and copy it onto the microsd card and put it back into the phone.
.
Here is the direct download link for the basic rom:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23622183712472801
#2: You need to ODIN flash CF-autoroot and TWRP recovery.
None of the above will wipe/delete/erase or destroy your files
or data. Here is the direct download link for ODIN: (just in case you need it)
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/45687485/odin1.85.rar
#3: Unrar odin to an empty folder and unzip the contents of cf-autoroot
and twrp recovery zip files into the same empty folder as odin is in then
flash cf-autoroot first, then flash twrp recovery.
#4: Once your phone is rooted and has twrp custom recovery, you are
ready to flash the zip file which you copied to your microsd card.
Flashing a basic twrp/cwm flashable zip file rom will not destroy,
delete, erase or wipe your files and data in the phone.
#5: Be sure NOT do perform a factory reset before or after flashing
the rom, twrp or cf-autoroot.
#6: For best results, flash cf-autooot first then flash twrp recovery.
Here are the links for cf-autoroot and twrp recovery:
CF-Autoroot:

TWRP recovery:

Good luck!
Thank you so much for answering. Because i have the same issue. But I'm stuck on 3. It sounds like i have to do them on the computer. If so wouldn't that require that i have USB debugging on and adb?
I don't have that option clicked on the phone and I can't click it due to the fact I can't unlock the phone either.
Thanks for your help. And thank you for any future clarification

You don't need to have usb debugging since all you need the computer for
is to copy a twrp flashable zip file rom onto a microsd card which in turn
would be the source of your zipfile rom and then you can use twrp recovery
to flash the zipfile rom.
That way twrp will have a zipfile rom to work with since twrp will recognize
the microsd card as the source for the zipfile rom which you need to flash.
Remember that the microsd card needs to be plugged into the computer
temporarily just so you can copy a zipfile rom file onto it.
Then once that's done the microsd card needs to be plugged back into the phone.
No ADB no USB pushing of files required.
Look at it this way, if your phone was working properly right now and you wanted
to flash a custom rom you would have a choice to flash it from internel memory or
the microsd card in your phone. If the rom is on the microsd card then twrp can flash
the rom from it instead of using the internal memory of the phone.
Good luck!
OK so let's make sure I understand 100%. I only need the computer to download and move the files. I don't need the computer for the process of rooting and flashing.
Odin.rar will be a first. I flash that via the so card and then flash the recovery. After that i will flash twrp/cwm flashable zip? Once this process is complete I can use the aroma file to remove the password.key file. Does this sound right. Again thank you very much. This is great help

I don't plug the phone in the computer. I take the card out and plug it into a usb Micro sd card reader. I then just put the card back in the phone.
