Help trying to enable native wifi hotspot. - Verizon LG G4

Hello all,
I am new to the forum and need some help. Since FoxFi is no longer working on VZ phones as of yesterday I am stuck without a HotSpot on my phone. I do have unlimited data, and I never abused it to keep under the radar but that didn't matter. So I tried following the sticky "HOW TO: Enable native hotspot for unlimited data users" but I was stuck right away. I don't have root nor have I ever rooted my LG G4 and I am on the latest OTA VS98612A. I tried searching XDA forums but got very confused if there is a way to root ver 12A. Can someone point me in the right direction as to which guide I should follow? or is there no root right now for OTA 12A? and without root I guess there is no way to complete the guide for native tethering?
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Anyone? I just need to know if there is a root process that I can follow for my vs98612a? I am temped to try creating a system image back up and do the root inject if someone can confirm that it still works for this update?

Follow the instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g4/general/vs986-rooteddebloated-t3256814
That image does not include the hotspot hack so you'll have to install the modified hotspot apk after doing the above.

Noob Questions on Rooting

OK i have a couple completely noobish questions about rooting. I have a EVo 4g and wanna know what do I need to install and the free "root-needed" android wifi tether app. I know I have to be rooted to use it but I would like to keep my stock rom and sprint apps, is that possible? In other words, can I have root acces on my stock rom? And if so what the Easiest and safest way to root my Evo. Will I need to reset/wipe my data to root my phone? Also if I root my evo and install these "Root needed" type apps what happens when I installed the OTA updates? Will it just stop the app from working or brick my phone(doubt it)?
Sorry for the noob questions but I havent rooted or add a custom rom since my ATT fuze and forgot how.
Thanks.
Also is this the best wifi tether app for the evo? http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list?q=label:Experimental
I have read in places that unrEVOked will allow you to use WiFi Tether.

confused, trying to root and hotspot , ek02

My goal is only to tether my galaxy tab with my phone. seems i need to root and install the hotspot mod. k, i can do this so i start looking for a guide. thats where my confusion begins, damn to a newb this lingo gets super confusing.
my phone works great for me, stock, and i sure would hate to screw it up. is there a safe option just to accomplish the wifi tether?? are those the links i want to follow to do this ?? looking for the step by step guide i can follow that is the "safest" way to do this.
also, will i loose data and settings on my phone after this ?? sure hope it will stay how it is now.

just need to be sure everything is in order before attempting this. could do the new usb tether, but that seems like a pain to use a cable.
thanks so much for the time,

I'd recommend that you stick with the third link (Auto root you existing stock ROM (w/o ODIN/ROM Flash)) because it has worked in my experience. To be extra safe, don't change files arbitrarily w/ root access because that could brick your phone.
Just an fyi if you decide to use the wifi tether app (needs root)

Will work with a galaxy tab, however you may have to edit your tabs ROM to support adhoc.
Search the Galaxy Tab boards. Its an easy mod. Some ROMs include it already. Don't know which tab you have but Tasks ROMs include the mod.
With that app all you need is root. Just be sure to set it up correctly. The site has setup instructions.
will this impact updating to ics ota or anything else ota? Thanks again.
Liking the hotspot update i think, clean, working, migt be a good option.
Have not tinkered since my razor or k1 motorola days.
Thanks again.
Auto Root and Android Wifi Tether wouldn't affect your ability to update OTA.
However if you install a new kernel to get CWM, that would. If you install the hack to get the builtin Hotspot working, that would too. I don't know about the other links.
It isn't that hard to put stock back on before you want the OTA update though.

[Q] tether w/o root?

Need some help. Have a work phone that I'd rather not root. Is there any way to get tethering to work after the latest update?? FoxFi worked before but now it is not working (blocked by AT&T). Also, Bluetooth and USB options are a no go because of the lack of permissions on the work laptop to install the pdanet client.
Do I have any other options?? I've looked around and everything seems to point to the answer being that you have to root the device. I was hoping for a non-root solution.
bump.
Anyone? Or is root my only option? I know a non-rooted stock ROM isn't really what XDA is about but I was hoping I would have something to test before having to root a work-owned phone.

HTC6500LVW 5.0.2 wifi hotspot needed

Thank in advance....i'm fairly new to hacking phones, was able to fully S-off, unlock bootloader and root my HTC DINC to get my feet wet
I have Verizion HTC6500LVW with 5.0.2. Since 5.0.2 disabled FoxFi wifi hotspot, I am just trying to find out the best solution to re enable, so seems like rooting is best option. I have read the forums and seems like for the super locked down Verizion M7 I will need to do the following
1) run KingRoot for Temp Root
2) run Sunshine
3) reboot
4) install/run KingRoot again
That should get me S-Off, Unlock bootloader, rooted phone perm, but I want to keep the Stock OS (yes, call me nuts), but not sure how to just get wifi hotspot going.
Any and all help would be appreciated.
Thanks

First time Rooting, vs98611a, advice? Should I update first or stick with 11a?

So, I've never rooted a phone before, a tablet yes, but that was almost 10 years ago. I can follow instructions, and am technically literate, but I'm worried about bricking my phone, so simple is better. Basicly I have an verizon LG G4 that I want to root. Primarily because I need to do some GPS spoofing, and mobile hotspot stuff. The version is 11a, Should I be trying to update that first? or is there a guide out there somewhere? I've found this thread
HTML:

Is this what I'm looking for?
I'm not sure if my software version matters or will limit my root options in anyway. Thanks in advance!
