Hi all.
After OTA upgrade to android 6 of unlocked unrooted nexus 7 2013 WiFi i decided to unlock and install twrp.
I used adb and fastboot to flash version 2.8.7.
It went smooth but after reboot to recovery, twrp shell returns "can't mount *" for all partitions. And the device is bootlooping into this state (unless I boot into bootloader).
The worst part is that my pc wont recognise the tablet when connected. Adb devices returns an empty list. So i cant even flash stock recovery or do anything uing adb/fastboot.
HELP!!!!
[solved] falshed factory image manually using fastboot
It seems fastboot recognized the device while adb/pc couldn't.
I downloaded Android 6 factory image from google and flashed-all that.
Just updating in case some other noob who doesn't fully understand adb/fastboot relations.

Ive been reviewing some of the threads on this forum for 2.3.3.0 and this doesn't look good. In my case I went ahead and downloaded Android 5.1.1 and transferred the zip file to the nexus (ADB Driver) as well as usb otg. I attempted to install the zip file but keep getting the message: "error flashing zip" (log is attached). After the first failed attempt I went ahead and removed then re-downloaded 5.1.1 again but still failed, Ive tried Android 4.1.2 but had the same result. Ive went to TWRPs site and attempted to perform a recovery using TWRP 2.8.7.0 but the recovery in TWRP 2.3.3.0 wont recognize any images. One last resort was to load from ADB SIDELOAD within TWRP 2.3.3.0 but still fails. Are there any other troubleshooting steps that could be performed?
Hi!
Try to flash any stock rom via NRT.
Heres what im getting when trying to communicate with the device: "ADB Device not found". Attached are the images of communication with the device while in TWRP 2.3.3.0 recovery mode, Is there a way to get NRT to recognize the device during the bootloader?
EDIT: I Found the FAQ, I will need to do some more research.

Hi!
Of course it is, just boot your tablet to fastboot mode, and choose in NRT Current status: Soft-Bricket/Bootloop.
If you really have a Nexus 7 (2012), you're using the wrong factory image (and you're in the wrong forum).

Kept trying with fastboot mode but ADB still wont recognize the device. When i boot in TWRP it does recognize the device just fine. Any other suggestions?

Hi, pepper55.
In recovery you can use ADB sideload
Simple ADB (not sideload) doesn't work without OS.
Use fastboot for the soft-bricked device.
Try to restore your tablet using stock google image, and "Flashing Instructions".
I just got my OnePlus 3 last week and I am having some issues trying to root it. Initially, I was using Win7 and could not get anything to work (phone was never recognized - yes drivers were installed). I went to my laptop with Ubuntu 16.04 and had some success. I was able to unlock the phone; however, when I tried to flash twrp.img (and recovery.img), I kept getting a fastboot permissions denied error. I was using sudo and fastboot devices worked. Also, if I try "sudo fastboot boot twrp.img" nothing happens on the phone (or pc for that matter). I am totally perplexed. The OS on the phone is Oxygen 3.2.4. Thanx for any assistance.

Install all driver (1+ Mobile Usb driver and Adb)
Than Follow Toolkit Method On Xda.. Its work Fine For me... ? and Follow their Video
I had a similar problem with mine. I could flash TWRP but it wouldn't stick. Reboot the phone and try again, the factory recovery would be back. I tried every version of TWRP, adb, fastboot and the toolkit -- same result.
Finally fixed it by using the toolkit to flash the previous version of TWRP, then using TWRP to flash the latest version without rebooting the phone. With that done, no problems after rebooting system.
Now I can flash new ROMs.
How old does twrp have to be before you get positive results?
Hate to start a new thread, but I don't see what I am running into .
My Nexus 5x is unable to boot past the animation (normally it would ask for my pattern, then boot into the system). I can access the bootloader and I can access TWRP.
But when I try adb commands like adb devices I get no response.
I just use this to sideload the new OTA from google which worked just fine so I know the sdk is setup correctly on this computer (rebooted etc).
With access to the bootloader and even TRWP (3.0.2-2) any clue as to where to go from here?
If I try to use adb sideload in advanced in TWRP, I can't talk to the phone (fastboot command fail)...
Phone Bootloader is: BHZ11g
The version of Nexus should be NRD91N 7.0
Seems I have some access on my phone, but cannot send commands to it via computer.
**Update** while at the bootloader (fastboot mode) I can see response when I use
fastboot devices
00b14a7d39589285 fastboot
Okay, I was able to recover from this by sideloading again the new OTA from google. The phone then rebooted but was wiped.
Will work from there
HI everyone,
I updated "successfully" from Kitkat to 5.0.2 on my rooted (stock ROM) Nexus 7 second gen.
Unfortunately, when I tried to upgrade to 5.1 everything seem to be normal until the device rebooted and it went through the "update process". 3/4 the way through, the green droid went on his back and the "ERROR" message appeared.
I wiped the cache partition but that doesn't help. I tried to download the update in safe mode, but no success. I also find it odd that each time I reboot my device, I get a message from Android that it is "updating my apps".
If I didn't have any apps and a lot of data on my Nexus, I would wipe the device clean but I'd rather avoid this, if at all possible.
Is there a way to upgrade to 5.1 or reinstall 5.0.2 without losing everything?
Thanks

No problem. As you rooted it before then presumably it is unlocked and equipped with custom recovery, so all you have to do is:
boot TWRP
connect PC
transfer data and APKs to PC
flash OS
If you don't have TWRP installed, then boot it like this fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-0-flo.img

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I rooted with Kingroot. I don't believe I have a custom recovery. The bootloader is locked as shown when I boot into recovery mode.
I want to avoid transferring my data and APK files to my PC.
Should I assume there is no way of reinstalling the OS without wiping out the device? Also, there is no link in the above quote: fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-0-flo.img
Since I got no other replies, I went and restored to factory image. I do have another question. I hope I get a better response there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...a/nexus-7-2013-wifi-root-marshmallow-t3515072
Thanks for the reply.
Can we compare using fastboot flashing TWRP vs Nexus Root Tool Kit: http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/? I ended up using this utility instead because it was pretty much one click and it didn't require command lines and for whatever reason, I found instructions using fastboot a bit confusing. Which method is better or has more advantages? I left my bootloader unlocked.
Incidentally, I think there was something wrong with my Nexus image. As a result, I did use Google's instructions on how to flash etc. the OEM image. Instructions weren't ideal but I managed to figure things out: https://developers.google.com/android/images
The instructions are here which I assume would be similar if I wanted to fastboot TWRP?
To flash a system image:
Download the appropriate system image for your device below, then unzip it to a safe directory.
Connect your device to your computer over USB.
Start the device in fastboot mode with one of the following methods:
Using the adb tool: With the device powered on, execute:
adb reboot bootloader
Using a key combo: Turn the device off, then turn it on and immediately hold down the relevant key combination for your device. For example, to put a Nexus 5 ("hammerhead") into fastboot mode, press and hold Volume Up + Volume Down + Power as the device begins booting up.
If necessary, unlock the device's bootloader by running:
fastboot flashing unlock
or, for older devices, run:
fastboot oem unlock
The target device will show you a confirmation screen. (This erases all data on the target device.)
Open a terminal and navigate to the unzipped system image directory.
Execute the flash-all script. This script installs the necessary bootloader, baseband firmware(s), and operating system.
Once the script finishes, your device reboots. You should now lock the bootloader for security:
Start the device in fastboot mode again, as described above.
Execute:
fastboot flashing lock
or, for older devices, run:
fastboot oem lock
Locking bootloader will wipe the data on some devices. After locking the bootloader, if you want to flash the device again, you must run fastboot oem unlock again, which will wipe the data.

Also, I could've sworn that when I rooted KitKat on my Nexus, my data wasn't wiped out. I don't recall doing anything to the bootloader. I can't recall which method I used, but I know for certain I didn't use the Nexus Root Toolkit. I should've recorded my steps when I rooted.
i rooted my nexus 7 using towel root on kitkat .. i unrooted using supersu... and ota untill marhsmallow with out a problem never use kingroot as its so un stable.
Hello everyone I'm new here.
I got my D855 upgraded to CM14 couple of days ago using TWRP and it was a little buggy, so I decided to stick with the nightly update. And I also noticed that they just released CMR so I flashed my recovery from TWRP to CMR, hoping to get better compatibility. But I was wrong, during my latest upgrading, also my first time using CMR, after the installation process completed, it just stucked there. After half an hour waiting I decided to pull the battery out, which opened pandora's box, the system just wouldn't load, stucked on the CM face page forever.
Then I tried lots of stuff, none of which worked:
go to recovery and use usb to transfer TWRP image to /sdcard then flash it back to TWRP, so that I could flash the rom again cuz previously didn't have any issue with TWRP - failed because CMR had no function for usb connection
adb push TWRP image to /sdcard then flash it - failed because somehow usb debugging is disabled
adb sideload to flash TWRP - failed because usb debugging is disabled
fastboot flash TWRP recovery - failed, CMR does allow me to reboot to bootloader but when I connected and typed "fastboot devices" in terminal, nothing showed up
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
