Charging speed Fonepad 7 FE170CG - Asus Fonepad 7

Good day XDAs,
I here to decide whether I need to send my fonepad 7 FE170CG to service centre or not. I am facing relatively slow charging speed for this device. Its about 660Ma - 680Ma according to Ampere from PlayStore. My settings is airplane mode with everything off (no GPS etc), 0% brightness. No background power draining app/ charging booster app running. Tested using different charger and cable (including original one) and this is best result I get.
So can someone using this device confirm your charging rate according to Ampere ? Thanks.

Having same issue
for me it takes up more than 6-7 hours to full charge. Really Frustating
Which charger you used for the best result ?

[Q] How on earth can the device's battery decrease while charging?

Hi everyone!
As you can see on the attached picture the device's battery life was decreasing while charged, i was playing a game with 40% brightness.
Can someone explain ne this, please?
Thank you!
Depends on what game you're playing. Asphalt 8 while charging for me only slowly charges, 1% every 15 minutes or so. If the game is using more resources faster than the battery can charge, it will decrease.

Not sure if that is totally unreasonable. 40% is significant in addition to gaming with a game that requires significant power seems OK.
I have the problem sometimes of my nexus 7 losing battery while charging sometimes as well, but I never use my stock charger and don't know where my original micro usb cable is. I have found that different Micro USB cables can have a major impact on charge rate. When the Galaxy S3 came out I noticed that with the stock charger and stock cable, I lost battery anytime I used my phone even while charging. My suggestion to you is to install the app current widget and put a widget on your home screen to see the amount of charge your device is receiving while charging. Yes you cannot do this while in a game, but you can at least test out different cables and chargers you may have to see if maybe one of those hardware pieces is the culprit.

[Q] Battery problems: not charging when in use

My 12.2 Tab Pro loses about 10% charge for every hour in use: about right, I think. It takes about an hour to charge about 10% when not in use: rather slow in my opinion.
When I am using my Tab while connected to the mains, it will not charge. In fact, it loses about the same amount as when it is not being charged.
Using in this context is reading books (Kindle), reading newspapers (PresReader) and web browsing.
I have tried USB 3 and USB 2 plugged into a mains plug, and USB 2 directly connected to a mains plug. I have tried different cables and plugs. They all behave similarly.
Should it not charge when in use?
Are you using the Samsung charger and cable that came with your tablet?

Amongst others, yes.
I have same problem with mine. Battery can die super quick from 100%, then a restart shows it with 60% (as example) battery. Are you rooted? I've seen others with similar problems, but no answers. Thinking of sending back to get fixed

Are you charging it from the computer?
Mine doesn't take an hour to charge 10%. You probably have a defective unit.
If it takes an hour to charge 10% using the stock cable and charger, there's a hardware fault somewhere, be it your cable, charger or the tablet itself.

USB ports do not provide enough current to charge these devices. I understand that, when on, the power drain exceeds input from USB sources. I use AC with adapters rated at 2 A. I also have a car charger with that current rating that plugs into the car lighter. USB ports, whether in computers, cars, or airport lobbies are useless.
If you are using wall plug rated at 2A and are not charging, then one of the 3 components is bad (charger, cable, or phone).

I'm also having the same issue . I have left it plugged in ( wall outlet ) and off for an entire day and it still wasn't charged 100% . I am rooted .

I bought my Tab pro 8.4 in June 2014. I use it about an hour each day and charge it when the charge drops below 30 percent.
Recently I have noticed, it takes all night to charge. This should not happen. my Ipod touch charges in less than 1 hour and its an old version 3, (6 years old or more)..
I am using the wall plug that came with the unit, to charge it. It should not be taking 12 hours.
This seems to be a problem with these 8.4's.
there are a number of possible causes: bad battery, port, charger, power source, too many apps .... you might want to read this guide on how to fix an Android phone that doesn’t charge (or discharges) when connected to a power source to help you identify the cause and fix it

I have the exact same issue with My Galaxy Note Pro. It will not charge while in use and the battery drains extremely fast even with most all settings turned off and screen brightness turned down. I turn the tablet off every night to charge and the charging speed is extremely slow. I am using all Samsung OEM cables and chargers. Ive tried USB 2 & 3 cables with no noticeable difference. I am going to do a factory wipe and then closely monitor the power useage. Im starting to think that there is an issue with the Note Pro based on the sheer amount of users reporting the same or similar problems.
If anyone has figured out the culprit behind this issue, please pass it along!
Battery indication issues
I have the same problem with charging the Note Pro 8.4.
After some investigation and multiple tries it seems very much that the reported battery level is not in line with "reality".
It happened numerous times that while the tablet was on and charging, the battery level did not go up or only 1% every hour or so. After reboot the reported battery level was much higher.
I decided to throw some apps from the tablet which vastly improved the battery level indication and more or less seem to work as expected. I know from previous experiences with my Note 2 that some apps/widgets can wreak havoc on very basic functionality like charging. For example the stock picture frame widget on the old Note 2 had the effect the charging icon did not update. After reboot of the phone it was much better. Removing the widget solved the problem.
All in all carefully check installed apps/widgets on the Note Pro (8.4) because the firmware does not seem to cope well with certain apps/widget combination whatever that may be...

[Q] SlimPort SP1004 Battery Drain on Stock ROM

Hi. I bought an official SlimPort SP1004 adapter. It works great so far except for one thing. When testing, I noticed my battery drained super fast even with the USB wall charger connected to the SlimPort and the phone shows charging. It uses 1% every 5 minutes. I'm using the app SecondScreen to turn the G3 screen off. Also, my LG G3 gets great battery life usually ending with 30% by the end of the day. Does the adapter charge slower than the wall where I need a kernel with FastCharge (FFC) enabled?
Is this normal behavoir?
My G3 D855 gets also hot when connected via slimport. I use hinfahren too to minimize battery consumption, I feel battery is great but I only connect charger when it is down. So using HDMI at 70% battery should be no problem without charger for 2 hours or so.
However, I have the problem if my phone screen and TV screen only receiving frame rates of 24 Hz when connected at at FullHD! When I set the resolution on slimport to 720p using hidden menu I can get 60Hz just fine. Secondscreen and setting FullHD instead of 2K does just nothing to the refresh rate......

I was having this problem when not using the included charger.
It seems that the phone actually requires to be quick charged (8V 2A) up to 65% or so and will then switch to the usual 5V 2A mode when it's reached this point.
As a result when I was using a regular charger (Nexus 7 charger, 5V 2A) the phone would "charge" but would actually slowly lose battery power during the night.
Gotta watch out for specific usb cables or charger adapters that don't provide enough power (as mentioned above).
I have 2 Nexus 7 FHD (2013) tablets and my Zenfone2 has exactly the same charger, 5.2V 1.35A
A standard cellphone charger is 5V and about 700-800mA.

I turned on Airplane mode and power saver while using a regular 5V Charger, and it was able to charge over night.....just not fully.
I thought I was the only one with this issue. Everything works fine with the included charger but when using my charger from my Nexus 4, it would charge a bit then at times start losing battery. I've used a friend's Nexus 5 charger and it has been hit and miss...sometimes it charges all the way sometimes it charges a bit and then starts losing battery.
Im also using ipad 2 charger..works well as a normal charger for zenfone 2. Especially if your gaming and charging same time..mine does not over heat..but dont recommend to do it always
In fact my question was more about who is charging all night their phones and also who is using his phone when the battery is lower than 15%.
Happy to see some others bugs on the ZenFone 2

Question Slow charge Android 13 stable

Just put 13 stable on my phone and charging my phone Takes forever I mean it's slow as hell..Wasn't the best on Android 12 but hell on Android 12 it was way faster.. That's the one thing I hate about this phone the battery life sucks an charging the battery is so damn slow..I got all the Adaptive crap turned off.
I'll have to pay more attention to the charging speed on my P6P and let you know what I experience. I try to never use fast charging, never charge overnight, try not to let the battery go below 25% and don't charge past 75%. That 50% range lasts me about 24 hours, but I might use my phone less than you.
I had no complaints about the charging speed on Android 12.
Edit: I'm happy with how much my phone has charged in the last 45 minutes, given that I don't use fast charge methods.
I am having the same issue. Installed 13 stable on my 6 pro. My battery got down to 4% so I plugged it in. I continued to watch YouTube and after an hour it was only up to 8%. Something is def wrong. The battery sucked before but now it's even worse
Updated yesterday and seems ive now got an issue with wireless charging. My phone stopped charging at 81% overnight. Its very intermittent whether it starts charging now on the two wireless chargers i have and seems to stop randomly, not getting to 100%. Charges fine using a cable.
Have the same problem since upgrading to android 13.
According to AccuBattery is the charge current around 900 mA. Way too slow and really annoying!
Didn't have the problem with android 12.
I'm using an Anker Power Port III which can charge with up to 25W. It's the same with other cables and charging devices.
Edit: Attached some screenshots
To clarify one thing for a number of users, you will not get adequate charging speeds without the official charging cable, the 30W Google branded wall brick and good temperature conditions.
The temperature conditions are generally the hardest to control whilst using the device - so I always charge with my phone powered off and have never had an issue. Heck, I generally charge with a 5W wireless pad and it always reaches 100% overnight (usually takes about 5 hours with my minimal wattage charging pad).
*Edit*
In the end - with the official cable usage - my charging speed hasn't changed between A12 and A13.

I think you didn't get my point. I did a comparison between android 12 and android 13. Since the charging speed is reduced dramatically it doesn't matter which cables or charging devices I use unless they are the same.
So we don't discuss absolute charging times here but the fact that by upgrading the OS of our Pixel 6 Pro the charging behaviour changed ceteris paribus.
I charge slowly over night, the charger i use normally charges at 1.5A max, now on A13 it is charging at 800mA
I have ESR magsafe ring. My car charger is working for about 2 minutes and stops. Battery temperature reach 43°C within 2-3 minutes since I upgraded to android 13.
All of the magsafe accessories stopped working. All of the normal QI chargers stopped working. I absolutely hate this phone. First 3 months - no reception in buildings. Still no 5G in my country even with root and signal guru. Now it's not charging wirelessly and only slow charing with cable.
My new guess is it is due to the overheating problem with the update to Android 13.
A lot of people complain about the high temperature. Therefore the phone reduces the charging speed.
Maybe that's also the reason for the problem with the wireless charging. too much heat = no wireless charging. Just guessing...
ATM I rebooted my phone to safe mode. Let's see if this helps.
Somehow I solved the problem. I booted into safe mode. Then I clean the temp files with Google Files. And now my phone is charging with 2mA and above again. Also the temp of the battery is down to 36°. I still think that is the root cause.

well we know for one you dont need that
just a cable capable of the current and a charger that hits PPF standards
and even with/without official chargers it will only peak 21w
im using a £5 Gan charger and a USlion 2M long magnetic 60w cable that can do data aswell and it is doing 20w peak for me on A13 which is what it did on A12 aswell. Both which i bought before the official charger came out

Nope, still charging like a piece of [crap, so,] not sure what Google did with A13 , I use official charger for fast charge, considerably slower than on A12
But yeah 3rd party Chinese charge and magnetic cable no issues. Charging issues are not a13 related it will be some defining factor like an app or hardware

I am having the same problem
I updated my pixel 5a to 13 stable. It's charging speed decreased a lot . Firstly it took around 1hr 50 min to get 100 now it's lot
more than 3hr. Gets lot of heating while charging.
Sometime it shows "6 hr to full charge" even at (30-40) battery level, and that's really bad .
After 13 Device is heating ( not just warm) so much even in normal uses (No gaming).
My own testing found out as long as battery reach 41 degree C, the P6P will charge at 3.5W only... (While still displaying fast charging). It you put the phone in front of air conditioner vent to lower the temperature to 25 degrees C, then it charging at full 20W.
The P6P easily get into battery y 41 degrees C by just charging at room temperature higher then 32 degrees C. On A12 its pretty difficult to get this... Somehow A13 drive the CPU while charging which I suspect affect the heat dispatching. I used a charging wire with watterage display so its easily see how P6P limiting the charging wattage with temperature.
It was considerably slower for me too. I was in Spain, coming from UK, so had to use adapter. I thought it's the case, but it has also been something with temperatures, I couldn't backup the pictures because the system showed me it's too hot. I hope that was the issue.
I just swith to Android 13 there are ossue with battery . please fix it .you guys are doing great work
