M8S - Massive data dlownloads from Google Play Services - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I hope someone here can help me figure out a solution to this problem. It seems that every time I switch on my data (4G, 3G, etc.) Google Play Services suddenly kicks into overdrive and downloads an insane amount of data for no reason that I can figure out.
My first indication this was happening was when my mobile operator turned off my data a few days after getting the phone because I had already hit my monthly limit (3GB)! I switched off my data until my new bill arrived and when I turned it back on again on the 14th of this month, it started happening again. I went into settings and selected "restrict background data" and this stopped it, but my phone wasn't working as I expected it, as I'm sure you can imagine. Over the previous weekend, I was staying at a B&B. I turned on data for an hour and unselected "restrict background data" so I could use the phone like normal. I left the phone down for that hour doing nothing before I remembered I left data on (the horror!) and discovered it downloaded a further 300-odd MB's in that time.
I've attached some screens for you to look at. This is a new phone, but this behavior is totally alien to me. Can anyone help?

RESOLVED:
Called HTC Support and they were as surprised as anyone would be. They reluctantly decided that the best, even though the most primative, form of action here would be Factory Reset.
It worked, so I'm glad I have my phone working as it should now.

T-Mo Wifi calling and app update issues

I was having an error where wifi calling suddenly decided to not work after a couple of months. Also, at the same time my app updates stopped working. After using my google machine for a few minutes, it told me I have to change my 911 address on the t-mo site. I changed it to the nearest business to my house as directed by google machine. Problem fixed instantly. This has something to do with big brother requiring more accurate 911 addresses or something, and the address has to be "recognized" somehow and apparently business address are more recognizable.
The error I saw was this: "W006.15 ISP or T-Mobile Network Error". Also, something about how I have to register to the network then the wifi app would crash when I tried to connect. On the app updates, it would download the app. Then instead of going to install it would appear to try and re-download the app and then crash with the notification of error downloading update.
Anyway, hopefully this saves somebody else some time.
Decided to turn on Wifi calling today and saw it was not working. Getting the same error. I tried this, clearing the app data, removed battery and sim but it still is not working. Been looking around and see that many people are having this problem. Hope it gets fixed soon...
Need to make sure you'd wifi is sending information because sometimes your gateway or router would take a "break" and not found anything. So try to restart your router.

[Q] Awake Time

Hi, my phone has been periodically waking up as seen in the screenshots below.

I've gone through all of my installed apps and made sure that they arent refreshing, etc. at any frequent period (facebook and android weather were the biggest abusers, but I turned refresh off and to 6hrs respectively). I cant find any other apps that would be waking the device up, but its still being woken up about every 7 min. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
I seem to be having the same problem since the jelly bean update At first I though it was the steam app the one awaking the phone, but it doesn´t seem to be the case. Right now I´m blaming Google Now as I see no other suspects, but I´m not really convinced... It looks like it only happens when I have data connection or wifi on. If I disable all data, the problem seems to dissapear.

Ok so I just realized that Tapatalk was set to check for updates every 30 min. I changed that to 12 hrs, but that still doesnt explain the rate of awakes that I was seeing. Could it be google sync? I thought there used to be a place to set the sync interval, but I cant seem to find it in JB...
use better battery stats to look at what's keeping the phone awake

[Q] Battery usage display issue?

Is anyone else having the problem where your phone only shows "Voice Calls" taking 100% of the battery usage after taking a call?
Ive hard reset the phone twice and before i make a call there are many things in the Battery Use fiels like Android system, Screen display, Music, WIFI, etc but after i take a call they all disapear and only "Voice Calls" is listed.
Its not bothering me or anythin gbut i would like to know if anyone else have this issue as i like to track whats using the most power throughout the day.
Can you post a screen shot of your battery usage screen? Hold power button and then press the home button to take a screenshot.

Thank you for confirming, i was about to hard reset my phone again because i thought disabling all the bloatware and installing a few apps that needed root caused my phone to go nuts.
Thank you again.
Edit:
Looks like mine worked it self out. After installing Temple run 2 and gaming for about an hour straight last night i decided to check again before i went to sleep and it fixed itself.

Phone starting to forget account selections

Recently my phone has started to forget account defaults, specifically in youtube. I will watch a video in to morning with no problem, then try again at night and it acts like I have never opened it before, asking me to select between the two Gmail accounts I have. It has come up occasionally on other apps like Google currents, and it has persisted between roms. It started on skynote 8 a while ago after maybe a month of usage, I thought nothing of it after switching to clean rom 4.5 (just trying out different roms). It started to happen again after about a month again. Between these two rom switches I wiped everything possible because I was attempting to clear up other weird problems. I wiped the usual (cache, system, data) as well as formatting my microsd card in the Android system.
I have not been able to find a correlation to an app install or any setting change, if anyone else can shed some light on this I would be grateful, if not I will flash back to stock and see if it happens again, then I will take the issue to ATT.
Thanks!
One other thing I forgot that also broke was the accelerometer. It just failed to give any values. After switching roms it came back. I dont see how this would happen, again no correlation to an app or mod, in fact I hadnt flashed anything other than skynote.
Just going to guess. Do you have this app that Google forced on us?

It just shows up after downloading something from the playstore.
I have no idea why.

My phone went like this last night, and it hasn't came back on again, my phone was on low battery last night and it went into extreme power saver, I don't no if this is just a coincidence or not but I'm lost here
never seen that before. id turn it off, take the sim card out, clean it, re-insert and see if that does anything. Otherwise call EE and check their isnt an issue with the account?
edit: you havent turned on airplane mode or something have you?
I'd also try to change different APN settings. I'm guessing only mobile data is affected and wifi works fine?
I don't no what has happened but I use that phone code *#*#4636#*#* to change it to 4g, and it reconnected, hopefully it's a one off issue and I'm not being locked out

P6P has its issues with data and reception. Lot's of complaints about low reception / low voice quality with low reception and slow data transfers (wifi isn't unheard of either but less problematic). I think it's been improving with software updates but mine still a complete pile of **** in terms of reception and phone call quality.
Try a hard reboot, if that doesn't work a network reset. On Samsung's it's called SIMtoolkit, clear its data as well; it will rebuild itself.
