After a lot of reading I decided to make this thread as an easy reference to an otherwise scattered/multi answered question across all android devices.
1.
a. (OPTIONAL) Backup your device to an alternative gmail account or service.
b. Go to Settings/General/Backup and Reset. UNCHECK Back up data to Google servers
c. Go to Google Dashboard and delete all backups under your Android device.
d. RESTART phone and then put your password in for the last time. CHECK/Enable Back up data to Google servers in phone settings.
2.
a. Open your file manager and look in build prop for this line: ro.securestorage.support=true and EDIT to show false
d. RESTART phone and then put your password in for the last time.
3.
a. With your file manager go to #root/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf and delete any duplicate SSID's along with their settings.
b. RESTART phone and then put your password in for the last time.
THESE ARE ALL SEPARATE SOLUTIONS AND SHOULD BE TRIED INDIVIDUALLY SO THAT WE CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT WORKED FOR YOU. PLEASE POST YOUR RESULTS ALONG WITH ANY OTHER SOLUTIONS YOU HAVE FOUND SUCCESS WITH.

My Google Account in SHP stopped fetching mails two days ago, push IM for GTalk stopped around the same time. I''ve got a notification reading "Google downloading" (or something like that) stuck in my pull down bar since then. Now, I wanted to try to just delete the account and set it up anew, but...
If I try deleting the account, I get 2 error messages, one after another, reading: "connection error" and "service not available"
If I try switching of Push, I get "connection error" and "unknown error, try again".
For changing any other options for the Google accounts, error messages are similar.
Now, is there anything that I can do without resetting or full flashing the phone? Like, using sTune to get rid of the malfunctioning account.
Try restarting your phone...if the problem still exist try to disconnect your phone from both 3G & Wifi then delete that account....it shouldn't give you any errors if it is disconnected because it won't be trying to use push
Best Regards

Good idea, thank you! Tried it and still didn't work, though :-/. I fear I'll have to da a full flash / master reset again.
Please follow the described process below to solve your problem.
1. Menu => Email => Accounts => Settings => Email accounts => Delete account => (select/touch "Gmail") Delete.
Then return phone to main page.
2. Menu => Settings => Internet =>
a. Clear cache
b. Delete cookies
c. Delete saved ID/password
d. Delete database
Then return phone to main page.
3. Restart phone.
4. Register your Gmail account again.
Best of luck.

Thank you! I already resetted the phone (did too many experiments anyways...), so I can't tell you wether that would help. I'll keep it in mind for next time (hope that doesn't happen, though).
Hi there,
So I just purchased a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition and I am setting it up for first time use. When I try to log into my Google account it just takes me to the Google Account Setting page and I can't complete the process. I've tried searching the forums but I haven't been able to find any information. The steps I take are as follows:
1) Go to Settings > General > Accounts
2) Click "Add Account" > Google
3) Sign in using my Username and Password (Same one I've had for years)
4) Asks me to verify by signing in on the website. Takes me to the verification screen.
5) Get verification text on my phone. Enter the 6 digit number > Check "Don't ask me again on this device" > Click "Verify"
6) Takes me to Google Account settings page.
I have reviewed all of the information on that page and I've even gone through and verified all of my log in's and linked apps. If I back out or hit the home button I have to start all over again. I've owned many google/android products and devices and this is the first time I've had this sort of issue. Maybe someone here that's smarter than me can help?
Thanks
**EDIT**
So I actually managed to figure this out by myself. Turns out you need to add the new device to your account. It's really lame since there is nothing to inform you of this during the setup process. Anyway to help anyone else with this issue here are the steps:
1) On a computer go to "myaccount.google.com" and sign in as you would normally.
2) Click on "sign-in & Security"
3) Scroll down and click on "App Passwords"
4) Click the "Select App" drop down and choose "Other"
5) Enter a name for the device and click "Generate"
6) Write down or save this one-time password
7) On the device go to settings > Add Account and click "Google"
8) When it asks you to sign in enter your gmail address but instead of your regular password use the one-time password you just generated (without spaces) and click sign in. It should verify and create the account properly.
Hopefully this helps someone else who had trouble figuring this out.
Cheers,
I had the same problem. I solved it by turning off the 2-step verification, adding the account and then re-enabling 2-step verification.
Hi,
I am trying to get multi user feature to work on my HTC 10 because this is not enabled on the version I have (pre-ordered, UK, no carrier).
I rooted the device following this post. Everything went ok.
Using BuildProp Editor I added on my build.prop the following lines:
Code:
fw.max_users=3
fw.show_multiuserui=1
After rebooting I see the option Users on Settings. I go ahead and add new user, it prompts "set up user now?". If I say yes, it switches to a new lock screen. However, when I try to unlock the screen, it says "Unfortunatly, Setup has stopped." with an OK button that when pressed just gives me the same message. No other function is available other then give OK, volume keys and power button. To get out of the message loop I need to reboot phone. After reboot, I see the new user that I tried to create on the list of user but If I try to enter I get the same Setup error.
Has anyone tried this?
I know that similar thing can be done via a Xposed module. But I would like to have this sorted without having to go there for now.
Running rooted 'stock' Android 6.0.1 (1.30.401.1) on HTC 10.
Cheers
--------------------
SOLUTION:
1 ) I edited the build.prop and removed the lines I added to get back to original.
2) I installed Xposed and a module XposedMultiUsersModule. This gave-me again the the Users option on the Settings. But trying to add new user gives the same error on Setup as before.
3) I edited the build.prop. Change the line ro.setupwizard.mode=OPTIONAL to ro.setupwizard.mode=DISABLED.
Then you can add new user and everything will be ok. You just need to add your google account and setting a few things up manually as necessary for your use. I do believe that I could have done the step 3 without steps 1 and 2. But I just don't want to test that now.
So far, no issues with internet connectivity. I'm happy.
Hope it helps!
UPDATE: If one tries Guest instead of creating a New User, you can use it. It even allows you to keep yours application settings and data after reboot. However, I am having lots of problems regarding losing internet connectivity on the the Guest account when I switch back to Owner profile. That is a problem because I would like to have app running on the Guest account that need to be online.
If there was a way to clone another account or bypass the android Setup application I think I could manage to get what I want.
SOLUTION:
1 ) I edited the build.prop and removed the lines I added to get back to original.
2) I installed Xposed and a module XposedMultiUsersModule. This gave-me again the the Users option on the Settings. But trying to add new user gives the same error on Setup as before.

Hi,
thanks for the updates. do you think it would work by just editing the build.prop file with the line modifications ?
add :
fw.max_users=3
fw.show_multiuserui=1
change :
ro.setupwizard.mode=OPTIONAL
to
ro.setupwizard.mode=DISABLED
Thanks !

It Works ...
i am able to create a new user with changing the above mentioned settings, but dont know how to change between the two users not even able to change to guest and back to original account, i can however see the guest account in the user list please guys help me i am stuck with my new user account which i setup after making these changes unable to go back or switch back to original account
After factory reset I'm stuck at google account screen which I don't remember since it wasn't my main google account.
After a lot of research I've tried the talkback->youtube but chrome or any browser doesn't open so I can't use it
Tried the gmail path but whole menu' doesn't show up, only account section and no options
Tried the keyboard "assist" but google search bar doesn't appear.
Tried to flash stock rom from sdcard but fails at 5%
Phone wasn't rooted and everything is stock
How do I get past google account screen? Is it as good as bricked?
UPDATE: I managed to get past FRP through the stock email app exploit! I cannot post links however due to forum restrictions.
In case anyone needs:
1. Follow guide with normal talkback->share link->email(select stock email app instead of Gmail)
1.1 Create a hotmail or whatever account on an other device.
2. Sign in, compose email, attach file from sd card (QuickShortcutMaker apk, you can google it)
3. Send email! you can send to random address
4. Go to outgoing, open sent email and open attached file and install
5. After install open and scroll down to "Huawei Home", open first option, then tap "try"
6. You now have access to whole phone, go to Settings->Accounts and delete all accounts
7. Go back to settings->backup&restore->Factory reset and confirm
8. Phone is now clean of FRP, enjoy!
A friend of mine asked about this. It's never a problem I've had, but thank you for sharing the solution. This could come in handy!

Indeed! Most common solutions weren't working for me so for a few days I was going crazy, but finally found one that works. Maybe someone else doesn't have to go crazy too!
Hi,
Somehow I managed to forget my screenlock pattern (freshly changed) on my OnePlus 5T and it seems like my enrolled fingerprints are useless now. I need some help to recover access to my phone (preferably without factory reset).
This is the current situation of my phone:
- Phone Rooted
- TWRP Custom Recovery
- USB Debugging enabled
- WiFi On/Data and GPS OFF
- Currently logged in with my google account on the phone, but can't access it over the google account (i kind of disabled history and other features in my google acc).
- Also "Unknown Sources" is enabled on my phone.
If there is any way to recover the password via ADB, or to unlock the Data, that would be just awesome...
Thanks for any help.

Hey Bud,
I had a similar issue when I restored a nandroid backup and the password had been glitched so that I couldn't sign into my phone anymore.
Anyways here's a shortened version of a solution I found here: https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/fix-wrong-pin-pattern-when-restoring-twrp-nandroid-backup.452384/
1. Boot into TWRP
2. Open the file manager inside of TWRP and delete (or rename - they get restored whenever the phone is booted so deleting them does no harm) the following files inside "/data/system":
-password.key
-pattern.key
-locksettings.db-wal
-locksettings.db-shm
-locksettings.db
(they might not all be there but whichever ones you can find, delete/rename)
3. Reboot your phone and you should no longer have any kind of pin/pattern on your lockscreen
4. Re-setup your password and don't forget it this time!
Hope this helps :good:

Hi, thanks.
I've been checking that post, but something didn't quite match. The following files are available on my phone ( /data/system):
-gatekeeper.password.key
-gatekeeper.pattern.key
-locksettings.db-shm
-locksettings.db
-locksettings.db-wal
So, as you can see, there are two files with the "gatekeeper" prefix. Are those two supposed to be also deleted (renamed)? Did you have them when you did your fix?
Thanks.

Hey man,
When I fixed my issue I didn't touch those - worst comes to worst just rename the files that were on the list I gave and leave the other 2. If it doesn't work then you can try renaming the files you found from my list as well as the two you have highlighted in red.
Give that a try

Just did the steps (including the gatekeeper. prefixed files) - I just renamed them, so I can revert back. Indeed I was able to get my phone unlocked, but everything is blank. Only a wallpaper, status bar and Nav Bar. No apps, no app drawer, nothing. I can access the Settings, but that doesn't help much... (except that I can set a new password).
Going in Settings -> Apps, shows me all the apps, which is good. But I can't see them on screen.
Also, the following are happening:
- Settings -> Apps -> Defaults: Nothing set up for "Home App". And there is a blank grey menu when I click on it.
- Settings -> Apps -> Application List -> OnePlus Launcher: clicking on Open By Default, crashes the Settings Menu.
Is it possible that I did something wrong here?

Possibly?
When I followed the method in the link in my previous post I had no issues - I just had to setup a new lock method.
It may have been the gatekeeper files - when I did this method previously I didn't touch those as I didn't know they were there
Do you have a backup from TWRP by any chance that you could restore?

Restored the gatekeeper files, but no success. Same behaviour. I have a backup, but is only a "initial backup" - sort of how the phone was at first. I was too dumb to do a backup after I set up everything.
It seems my only way now would be to do a factory reset and lose all data.
Unless there would be a way to recover the password from the database? I know is encrypted and salted, but that salt also has to be stored somewhere... maybe there would be a way to revert that hash into a pattern? grr, this is extremely frustrating.

I apologise for possibly making matters worse whilst trying to help but this is beyond my understanding of TWRP's capabilities
It might be worth restoring your previous backup even if it is blank and then setting up your phone again. During the setup choose an option that should be something like: "Restore from the cloud" which will allow google to restore most of your app data. However, your internal storage will be completely wiped . Once that's all good and setup then definitely make a backup - it's a good habit to get into and will save you a lot of hassle in future.
I don't know if there's anything else I can suggest you to do,
hope this doesn't take up too much time - I personally know how infuriating it is to spend hours on something when there's no easy solution. You'd be better starting from a clean flash of OOS.
Sorry, there's nothing else I can think of to help you out
Best of luck bud.

I'm grateful for your effort. It offered a solution. It just got more complicated than expected. Probably the last Oxygen update patched some security issues - which is not bad after all (it's just bad for me NOW).
Personal data is encrypted with the screen lock pattern, so your only choice is a factory reset
