LG G4 (VS986) - Accelerometer stuck - Verizon LG G4

Hey all -
My G4's screen no longer rotates with position changes. I can do it manually (by rotating images with my fingers) in the QuickPic app, and some apps will do it with certain commands (e.g. selecting full-screen mode in the YouTube app). I just noticed this yesterday. Web searches on this issue point to a "stuck" accelerometer, which apparently happens fairly frequently on these phones (??)
If I try to calibrate it using the tool under Settings, it keeps telling me that the phone is not on a flat surface (which it actually is).
Downloaded Advanced Tools and found that the x- and z- axis values on the accelerometer test (but not the gyroscope one) are indeed "stuck" on a fixed value, but the y-axis value does change with position.
Several sites mention doing a hard/factory reset as the fix for this. However, some forum posts say that it didn't work, and I'd rather avoid it if possible. Anyone here have this problem, and a fix? I'm rooted, FWIW.
Thanks very much in advance!
P.S. I have tried the "other" proposed fix (a few taps on a desk in an attempt to "unstick" it) - no joy.

[Q] magnetometer issue

Hi guys,
just came back from me business trip and realized that.. I have posted something totally useless.
So I came back, with the same request, but properly explained.
I have and issue with my Desire HD. There is a strange problem with the magnetometer. I took me a while to find out that is connected to it, because.. sometimes by screen just remains blocked. There is no response from it to touch. After some seconds (between 1 and 20), it works. But, the compass is not working (if I check with some sensor application it says that magnetometer is not present.
Sometimes, the best workaround is to disable screen rotation (that is also somehow strange to me, as I don't really see the connection).
After a factory reset (install new ROM, etc), everything is OK until I use the GPS the first time.
So, the questions now:
1. As the sensor works (sometimes for days), I expect to be a 'software' problem. How do I manually reset the magnetometer? I have read that for Galaxy (for example), you can do that by getting in some hidden factory menu...
2. Is it posible to disable the sensor totally? I would not like to do that, as I would like to have the screen rotation, but it can be handy to be able to enable/disable it.
Thanks for all your answer

[Q] Magnetometer issue - updated

I cannot belive nobody has an idea. At least an idea, if not a solution.

Proximity sensor works inconsistently

I recently bought a Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML) which works exceptionally well however today I've noticed something odd (probably would have noticed it before but the phone was actually a gift so not at all times with me).
During a call the proximity sensor will only turn off the screen when the phone is close but it will not turn the phone on when I move it away. I've gone through many online articles and in the majority of cases it was a problem with the screen protection. However, I do not use any kind of screen protection.
Additionally I've noticed something really odd. Zenfone 2 has an inbuilt testing suite (SMMI Test) which allows testing various parts of the hardware. The proximity sensor test consists of three steps (NEAR, AWAY, NEAR). They should be self-explanatory (NEAR triggers when an object is close, AWAY when its far). In my case the first step (NEAR) always triggers after the test starts but the other two (AWAY, NEAR) simply won't. That's until I use the app switch button (next to the home button) to re-enter the test application again. The other two steps then complete successfully.
Considering the behavior can I rule out a hardware problem and pin the issues to the software?
The proximity sensor issue was successfully resolved by reverting back to the 2.20.40.90 firmware. The 2.40.40.97 version (at least WW) obviously has issues with it.
You can find detailed instructions on how to perform stock recovery in this topic (http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/help/reverting-to-stock-firmware-t3225632).
Once again props to kanagawaben and all the people which contributed to this topic.

GSensor (Auto Rotate) Not working properly

Hello everyone,
just recently got the device, my second day of using it. Today, I noticed that my Auto Rotate simply doesn't work at all. After some tinkering in hidden menu (*#808#), I found that within Gsensor analysis, phone is always detected as being upright - portrait position detects 0 degrees, however both landscape positions are WAY off (350 and 10 degs respectively, while they should be 270 and 90).
Supposed sensor calibration within the hidden app doesn't work; phone detects all tests as passed, but the Gsensor shows the same value for Angle variable (btw 350 and 10).
Anyone have any tip on how to resolve?
I switched out several OOS versions via zips, none of them showed any improvement. Flashed CM, could confirm Auto Rotate doesn't work. Hoping someone with similar experience can help me out perhaps.
EDIT:
Additionally, could I ask some of you to perform ACCEL test within Sensor self-test and calibration menu under *#808# and see if you get a pass? I get a fail due to Sensor Specific error
Reboot the phone.

Reboot the phone.

as noted, I've re-flashed several OOS zips in my bid to try to fix this issue. Rebooting obviously didn't help. here's the picture showing the "cause" of the issue - angle isn't being detected properly.
further investigation lead me to show that indeed accelerator is faulty for some reason - it is constantly detecting acceleration of 60 m/s^2 on Y axis. This is why angle isn't being properly detected. Additionally, I think my magnetometer isn't working properly either. Seems like I'll have to initiate RMA unfortunately, and it will be tough since I live outside of EU, got the phone from Germany from a friend.

Glitch in S20 layout?

Hi everyone, I hope someone here can help me.
I'm experiencing a bug on my phone that's bothering in several situations.
Apps in landscape mode switch to portrait and come back to landscape (or not):

Voice notes in WhatsApp get interrupted:

(you'll see that the navigation bar briefly goes white)
I've factory-wiped my phone, gradually reinstalled the apps and double-checked that there are no weird or potentially dangerous apps.
The tricky part here is that I can't find a pattern, as it randomly happens (for instance, my keyboard went down when writing this actual post).
Has anyone else experienced this problem with their phone? Any idea on what I can do? It's really hurting my experience with Samsung.
Thanks!
You might try another Android version.
Clear system cache on the boot menu.
You can try a hard reboot as well.
Test the sensor(s) that controls that (it could be an intermittent failure, the worst kind to diagnose).
Does manually locking it to landscape mode stop it?
If it's a brand new phone, get it replaced as this is not a normally seen glitch.
Reloads generally don't cure settings or hardware issues and useless it's an old load or has a worm, trojan, etc are generally a waste of time.
As invariably the original issue just gets triggered again... eventually.
