Factory Reset - Verizon LG G4

Will a factory reset cause the phone to lose root or not? I'm going to be selling the phone shortly and was curious if I perform a factory reset will it retain root or not. Thanks

It should not lose the root, but if you want a clean phone flash a stock kdz and it should be as clean as new one...

973 root question

I have the E973 and I want to root. Unfortunately I updated to the newest version. Now I understand that I can downgrade and root then upgrade again and keep root. My question is, when I downgrade, root and then upgrade again do I have to wipe? Am I going to lose everything? Im assuming I can just use the backup app that comes with the phone. I would rather not have to replace all my apps and info....

are you downgrading using the KDZ method. if so everything will be lost.
Well from what I read kdz seems like the best way to go if the only way to go lol. Have you used the stock backup utility thats included?

No I didn't . once you run the kdz file everything will be bone stock. Nothing to backup. Not sure I understand you

theres a backup app in the stock rom where it allows you to backup the apps, etc. it says you can save the file to your computer and after a wipe download them back to your phone to recover your info.
I actually used kdz a few times. Did it so I could root then updated again via ota to get the battery fix then downgraded when cm10 came out. Every time I used kdz all my personal data and apps stayed. It wasn't until I flashed cm10 that I lost everything but by then I had titanium .

what steps did you take when you downgraded with kdz?

Restore to Stock with Root - remove all my data?

I have an AT&T S3 that I flashed using the [HOWTO] [ROOT] No Tripping Flash Counter - [ATT / Bell / Telus / Rogers / Sasktel] thread. What's the best way to return everything to stock (none of my data remaining) and retain root? Do I simply do a factory reset from within the phone, or within recovery, or reflash the ROM? Also, do I have to manually remove my nandroid backups from CWM?
Just flash the 4.1.1 stock rom using odin then root if after. Easiest way.
If you want to fully wipe your phone, in CWM, go to mounts and storage, and format /sdcard then flash rooted stock in odin.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
The easiest way is to just go into clockwork mod and wipe everything except system and boot I believe. You could then just flash the stock recovery if you don't wand CWM.

Thank you all for replying. If I just did the factory restore would it retain root? I will try to do the factory reset then flash the root injected stock rom from Odin. The factory reset should remove all my info, correct? I'm going to miss this phone. I think it was a really well thought out phone by Samsung.
Wow, I tried the procedure, and it keeps tripping the counter thru odin, what the heck am I doing wrong, 2-S4 comin, selling 2 of my G3 on ebay, got to get them ready. The stock flash thru odin works perfect, but when I jigg the device it shows 1 trip everytime.
Thanks
At work I have access to jtag box, should I go that route?

[Q] GS4 Tmobile Stock firmware file

Hi as always I come for the expert advice to you guys. I have recently UPDATED my Galaxy S4 for Tmobile to CyanogenMod. Frankly I love the speed but it is still in beta version and has a few things I did not like. Few glitches. Anyway:
I want to go back to my stock firmware which was Kit Kat 4.2.2.before I installed Cyanogenmod.
I already downloaded Odin V3 09 and am ready to do this but I still do not have the stock firmware file. I looked for it but I really don't want to screw it up.
Can someone be so kind and insert the link to the download ? And if of course possible STEP BY STEP instructions on HOW TO GO BACK ?
I understand my phone now is rooted and will stay rooted after reinstalling Kit Kat. So I still should be able to get rid of all the bloatware correct ?
Any help greatly appreciated and huge THANKS IN ADVANCE !!!
Download firmware here http://www.cheatersedge.org/android/m919/M919UVUFNB4_M919TMBFNB4_TMB_FENNY_FIXED.zip, there is a thread already on instructions on how to flash.. and just because you rooted doesn't mean your device will stay rooted forever. Once you flash the firmware you will be unrooted but you can root again.. Alternatively you can just flash a debloated stock rom in recovery

Finding the stock firmware won't be easy unless you try downloading from sammoble, but you could try Fenny's stock rooted 4.4.2 rom in development.
It's very smooth without the bloatware and it has unlimited tethering.
It works best with Philz recovery.
Just follow the directions and your good to go.
Don't forget to do a factory reset.
Pp.
Sent from my Touchwiz device that never forgets apps.
PIN lock screen does NOT work on Fenny's rom when you first boot/restart/power up the phone. So, if you are turning your phone on the lock screen will just be skipped over.
Pin lock issue could be NG if you need that type of security.

Thank you so much Serio22, I just want to make sure it is the correct one for my Tmobile GS4.
And also would you be so kind and attach the STEP BY STEP instructions for Odin ? I am really afraid of bricking my phone. I need guidance.
People say once you do it few times it becomes easy as pie. But like I wrote above I don't want to mess up my phone.

One last question and I won't bother again:
When it comes to those files " OFFICIAL TAR AND ORIGINAL TAR " do I just choose any one of them ?? I wanted to know the difference between them both. Instructions don't really specify which to choose. Or is it both ?
And also there is a suggestion to " Wipe the data in recovery " after the whole thing how do I do that ? Should I do that ?
Thank you again for your help.

You don't have to worry about that, just use the tar file I posted earlier
Edit: and for the wipe data, you reboot to recovery after you flashed the firmware and do a factory reset.. Yes you should, but not necessary if you don't have any issues..

Did flash a new modem/radio also?
The NB4 (4.4.2) radio seems to be a big improvement over the older ones.
If you give us the link to where you downloaded what you flashed, that may help to determine what you flashed.

Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2677252 and get either @ShinySide or @Fenny 4.4 package. Any other stock 4.4 package from Samsung is most likely buggy. I suggest 1 of these guys fixed packages for a bugless flash.

Yes get Odin ready and unchecked auto reboot. I would do a full wipe before flash and after. Boot in recovery when you're done and wipe data cache and dalvik. Reboot and you should be golden.
