Hello all:
I have made my decision to purchase the LG G4 to replace daily driver G2 but before I actually going purchase it I want to make sure if the touchscreen issue still exists on the phone.
I have done some researching via googling but after almost an hour I still haven't got any sure answer yet therefore I'm here to ask for some help.
Is anyone still having the touchscreen issue?
Thanks!
Yes it is. I came from a G2. It isn't as bad as what everyone is complaining about. I think it is just a background process hogging resources for a split second. I haven't really many complaints otherwise.
If you have a G2, you will feel right at home. The G2 is a beast. I gave it to my GF when I got my G4. I play with it occasionally and she loves it, but I wouldn't trade back. The experience is exactly the same as the G2 and that is a very very good thing.
The latest update in Canada has solved it for us. I was going to give up on mine until the update came.
I'm on Bell and had to flash the Telus update as the Bell one is not released yet.
Unless you have some funky grounding issue, I think most folks will be happy with the update.... Whenever it arrives for you, that is....

Thanks for reply and I'm very appreciated!
I also love my G2 but the issue of random dead spot on the digitizer really drives me crazy! I have been replaced the device twice during my warranty period and brought it to the repair shop twice after the warranty period for this issue.
And now the fifth time has came and I just can't stand for it anymore, therefore I finally decided to upgrade it to the G4.
If the others also says touchscreen issue isn't really affect the daily usage as you described I will get the phone as soon as possible.
Thank you again for the reply.

The news you brought to me is just so fantastic! I also living in Canada and now using the Wind Mobile network. I will most likely going to buy one from my carrier so you really brought some hope in case the one I bought has the issue and frustrates me in the daily usage so I will root my device and flash the Telus update.
Thanks again for the reply, I'm very appreciated for it.

I am totally unrooted at the moment...no root before I flashed Telus, and no root after.
Check out the Canadian thread in the general G4 section...I believe that someone on Wind also flashed the Telus update.
Here are the instructions you will need to follow through on your plan:

It's great to know there is no need to root the device for flashing the updates!
Also thank you very much for the instruction.

i debranded from orange rom and everything was fine i got an update so i did it now its saying network locked ?
Are you sim-locked to Orange?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
yup but i got the first update and everything was the same now i got a another update and it has gone like this
Try to unlock your sim card and the message should not appear again. You can buy an unlock code directly from Orange or get one online from a reputable sim-unlocking site, even on eBay. It is possible that you flashed a generic rom that included one of the radio versions which causes this network message to appear. This only happens with Orange branded phones for some reason...
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I guess the update was 1.21.405.2
Orange phones that have been de-branded seem to either have their WiFi broken or go to SIM Lock. The only way out of it is to buy an unlock code. (See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=693511)
The same happened to me -- although I know it would, and still wanted to de-brand. I just bought a code for £9 from: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300434867258#ht_1893wt_911 popped it in and it worked!
Yeah, it's not ideal but at least you have a de-branded and unlocked phone.
You see what you did there Faddy? You've been told on TWO previous posts SEARCH THE FORUM. In fact the answer to the two obvious questions you asked needed NO SEARCH AT ALL as the answers were recent enough they're still on the front page, but you decided beeing snarky and lazy was better.
Well you would have read peoples issues with the second update and would have avoided this. I have zero sympathy for you.
I have seen many posts by this member... makes you think, could he not have just noted all his queries in one post?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I have to agree with you lot that the OP is lazy and wants spoon fed!
That said, Faddys, if you flash an older radio this should unlock your sim for you again.
I'll let you do the searching to find which one
Edit: When you flash a radio, it goes through 2 reboots. DO NOT interrupt the flash, or remove the battery if you think it's taking too long. This will brick the handset.

It might help others who are following this thread to say how you unlocked it.
Did you reflash an older radio, or did you buy an unclock code?

Either method would have fixed it, but I agree with you mate and i think it would be beneficial to others if he cared to ellaborate a little
Hello everyone,
I have just bought a Droid Incredible off of ebay. The seller said it was in mint condition and that there were no problems at all. When it arrived, it was in perfect condition. However, upon activating the phone, it would not stay on for more than 10 minutes. It just keeps rebooting itself. Also, while it is up, it does not always maintain a signal, and then it usually reboots a couple minutes after that.
It is not rooted, all of it is stock. I have been trying to find an answer for this problem all over the internet but to no avail.
I have read that where this phone is from (North Carolina) there was a lot of people with the same problem as this one.
It is the amoled version, hboot .92 and the baseband is the most recent at 2.15.00.7.28
I have tried factory resets, battery pulls, new battery, reflashing the RUU. I am at a complete loss.
Any help would be great, because I want to love this phone. I am sick of my slow Eris and this was my solution.
Thanks so much in advanced.
After some troubleshooting, I have noticed that it only occurs when the 3G service is turned on.
Any thoughts?
Have you tried a different radio?

I'm not sure what the problem is. FYI, that's not a bootloop. A bootloop is when the phone continuously boots, but never all the way to be usable, such as to the quietly brilliant screen and then starts again.
Also, I would bring it in to Verizon. See if they'll replace it.

I posted over there too. But actually, I am now starting to rethink that it is the 3G radios. I could've sworn this was a software issue, but it just rebooted on me while I had 3G turned off.
I guess this ebay seller really did lie to me. Well thanks for your help guys, I don't know if I should bother trying to fix this. I guess I should just hope for the seller to respond. Its been almost a week...
Same exact thing is happening to my buddy's phone. I rooted it and put CM7 on it and it was still rebooting.
I had to turn S-ON back on and downgrade back to stock so he can return it to Verizon.

This is exactly what is happening to me right now. It lets me "touch the android to begin," then it reboots. I bought it off ebay and it was an unused cpo. Looks like I'll have to return it. Hey, since I bought it from somebody off ebay, should I worry about turning S-ON and going stock??

You only have to turn S-ON and go stock if you're returning it to Verizon.
http://www.incredibleforum.com/foru...s/5723-how-get-back-complete-stock-s-off.html
That's the guide I used. Works perfectly. Order of operations is:
0) make sure sd card is formatted to FAT32
1) check your radio version
2) downgrade radio if necessary
3) flash s-on
4) install RRU through HBOOT

I can't even successfully root/s-off the phone. It reboots while its being rooted (and not the reboots that are supposed to occur) and it fails.
I have tried everything. I used to be adamant that it was a software issue, but after yesterday, I am beginning to think that it might just be hardware.
Anyone have any experience with getting their money back from ebay/paypal?
But seriously guys, I can't thank you enough for all of your ideas and help. I really appreciate it. Hopefully I can join you guys with the Droid Incredible one day.
PayPal is pretty good about protecting the buyer, as long as it hasn't been too long since the transaction. I would contact the seller and inform him of the problem, then contact PayPal and explain the situation.

I've contacted the seller the day I received it, asking for a refund. I then also contacted the seller two days later. A day after that, still not hearing anything, I opened an eBay case. Now eBay tells me I must wait until the 6th to escalate the case any further.
This is such a hassle, I just want my money back. Part of me wants to just get a HTC Flyer and just tether my Eris to it.

My inc did the same thing. After about ten tries I got it to root (mine too rebooted during the process before it was supposed to). But no rom, kernal, or anything else stopped the reboots. My seller said to return it for a full refund.
Ebay is pretty good at taking care of you. Last year I bought a phone and the seller bailed on me. About a week after I opened a case I had a full refund in my paypal account. Good luck!

I've heard mixed reports. If it's something you can easily do, then I say do it. At the very least, flash a "stock" Rom. I doubt they seriously inspect the device, but I could be wrong.
Wound up flashing a stock PG32IMG.zip image in recovery mode. Might still be S-OFF but are they really gonna know?

The Verizon store closest to me isn't an "official" branch or something so I had to mail it. I hope whoever gets my old phone finds his way to this forum and gets his Jellybean on! I really HATED Gingerbread.
Food for thought. As a part of the "T-Mobile My Account" app is a device health (beta) page that will scan the phone for various settings. If you tap on either the "Battery state" or "Device performance" and look for a box that says "Show all test" being rooted is among the list. When I read over the various warranties and agreements, I was looking specifically for anything about root, rooting, rooted, "" access. The best I found only mentions that issues caused by 3rd party software are not covered.
Seeing this makes me wonder if T-Mobile as part of its "un-carrier" move may be opening up to the idea.

Cause on an HTC or nexus device you can completely go back to stock and have no evidence of rooting. With Knox, you're screwed. There's no resetting it. I don't know how LG works, this is my first LG device

Honestly, if you return to stock (completely) and then go in for warranty, you should be okay. The official stance is no, but I know that 99 times out of 100 you're not gonna have an issue. Unless it's blatantly obvious that you caused your issue by messing with your phone. If you ever need anything when dealing with Tmobile feel free to pm me on here. Yup, and things like this happen where reps are completely oblivious. It's not uncommon.
I only said what I did because I know quite a few managers from the bay area to Sacramento, and a good portion of them are into rooting phones and train their staff (not cause they want to screw you over, just to make sure that they retain their job) to look for it.
So yeah, you'll probably be fine if you don't unroot your phone, but an extra 10 minutes of work won't hurt you.

I usually get my best results by going into the store and being a real jerk, swear at the counter people, call them names then tell them you rooted the phone and now there are some issues....
JK,,, dont do that.
If you are nice and act dumb they will help you.
Hmm, I don't even HAVE a store around here, I'd be dealing with whoever is at the other end of the shipping tag.

thats very nice of you to offer that:good:
I agree with your comments; I have rooted every phone I have had over the years with ATT/Sprint/TMO, and NEVER "restored to stock" ANY of the phones I turned in for upgrade/repair/etc, and never once had an issue with ANY carrier.
If you act like a jerk, and hassle the store personnel, you will always have a problem; if you are polite, professional, and dont try to blame someone else for your problem, 99% of the time, you wont have a problem turning in a rooted phone.
Treat people like YOU want to be treated, and you will always be taken care of; at least that's always been my experience..
I have always just unrooted before I went in. Some times I have watched them check the phone and worried if they would try to update it. That was the case with both my HTC Evo 4g and Samsung Galaxy S3 with Sprint. I was trying to avoid the hboot 1.5 and KNOX updates. Only issue I had was when my mms stopped working. Even unrooted the stock messenger wouldn't send them. I was asked if it was rooted and was hoping the unroot file worked. Ever time the phones have finished as I was parking in the lot so I never really had a chance to make sure it was all back to stock.
When I picked up the G3 and changed to T-Mobile I asked and was told unroot it. If no one knows it was rooted then you're good.

yeah, its so easy to unroot a phone, and if they do a quick check to see if its rooted, and they dont see that it is, they never go any further..

I have had to over the years exchange a few phones with t-mobile, been with them going on 8 years with 5 lines. I always unroot and set back to stock with that said tho, I had to exchange a note 3 for non working GPS and although I did set it back to stock I obviously couldn't reset the knox counter. So far, haven't heard anything about it and that was almost a month ago. While I have no official comment, I do believe t-mobile doesn't care so long as the issue is not related to anything you have done.
I want the g3, but am waiting for root. Just don't care for phones I can't restore to, uninstall unneeded apps etc.
i went on store at LG G3 launch and i showed my note 3 to swap with G3. via JUMP
my phone is rooted, i even teased the girl representative that i have the coolest ROM on it lol. she just smiled and check the note 3 physically. i even let her do a factory reset on the note 3. few mins later i have the black G3 on my possession
I'm not sure what the big deal is. If we can flash a stock ROM onto a phone I'm sure they can, probably easier than we can. It's the hardware condition that really matters.

This is called The Golden Rule and XDA and the world in general would be a better place if it was practiced at every opportunity. ?
Quick question for the forum. I was wondering if anyone reading has not yet received the VS98612A update (that is not rooted) that was pushed to some users at the beginning of October?
The reason I ask is that I am planning to sell this phone. First the touch screen issues, now I intermittently receive push notifications over WiFi which has kind of turned into a deal breaker for me. Since the upgrade, the touch screen and overall software performance have been great, BESIDES the notifications. Since I would like to possibly sell this phone I was wondering what the chances of me getting a referb with the 12A update if I were to send my current phone in for a replacement. Apparently my conscious won't let me sell a phone that has a known software big to someone who may completely unaware.... If only Verizon/LG felt the same way....
Thanks,
Nate
