Flash

Hi all,
I have the flash that came with the Froyo update on my phone.
But when I open the market I also see the flash for download.
Is there a difference in the too?
When there is an update for flash how do I get it? since the current flash is not being recognized in the market.
BTW the one in the market is newer.
Thanks
R

You need to download the flash from the market as this is indeed the update. Once you have done it the market will recognise you have flash and then you will be notified of further updates. It's the same story with the Facebook app.
Thanks

You should flash it via recovery. Install zip from ad card and then choose the zip file. I just installed it.

Well first you need to unlock and root it, without that you can't flash zips

does anybody know how to pull it and make it work . i know for rooted phones the OTAs fom at&t dont work
If you're rooted go to downloads folder in a root explorer and grab the downloaded ota file.

so, you should follow something like this
after you update, you can flash custom recovery and root again

I have tried it after unroot via super su but after unroot I have not lock bootloder.

that's possible, but after full unroot, you'll still have your custom recovery..
after flashing stock recovery you'll have to relock bootloader too
Please provide stock recovery file

In the TWRP-Thread Post 3 you will find the answers and the needed steps for it.
Been reading the thread but just doest seem clear to me, if someone could make it clear for me here in this thread that would be great

OK re read the post , so it's rooting that will break OTA , not simply installing twrp, correct?

lets see if i can simplify it
TWRP 2.8.5.0 = OTA broken
TWRP 2.8.6.0 = OTA broken
TWRP 2.8.6.4 beta = system locked read only long enough to make a system backup (used below)
TWRP 2.8.6.4 beta + SuperSU = OTA broken
using fastboot flash system system.img to restore your system backup allows OTA again
you also have to flash stock recovery to regain OTA ability (same time you restore system)
Excellent thanks that clarifies it perfectly for me
