So I just wish to change the default Sprint Spark icon to something else that gives more detail on the sort of network the phone is connected to.
I did the feature.xml trick and I see the network type but I still also see the 3G icon from Sprint along with it.
Can someone pls help!

Hi Guys
Just replaced my T-Mob Rom with Schnaps 4.31, I used to have a "G" or "3G" icon at the top of the screen to let me know what network coverage type I had.
Since updating to schnaps its just gone to the 2 little arrows you get before you put in ya sim pin, is there a reg hack I need to do so I can see the coverage type?
Cheers
I think a simple reboot should fix it...did you have your phone connected via activesync before this happened?
Yes, but I have rebooted it a number of times now to install new software and such.
Still all I get is the two arrows (not the activesync ones).
Get into the registry, go into this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\
Then delete the value "CellularDataIconOptions".
You will get the normal icons back.
Hmmm went to hunt for that key and I dont appear to have it.
I found it on my Vario 3, guessing thats the key that shows what network type I am on.
I added it to my Hermes, just to see if it would show the network type but I got no change after a soft reset.
I'm currently using the HTC T8285 Telstra. I know that it picks up the 3G here, just in Australia instead of having a 3G icon where the signal is, theirs has an H.
Is there any cab or tweak to either get the H to show up as 3G or have 3G shown beside where is says AT&T ?
Im actually on the Telstra network The icon switches between 3G and H on mine, i think depending on whether the current cell supports HSDPA?

You realize the "H" is better than "3G"?
H is for HSDPA aka 3.5G
i think ryche316 is referring to the label reading 3G AT&T vs just AT&T. if i'm correct, you'll need a registry editor to fix this. launch the registry editor and goto the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting and change the Enable3GLongNamePrefix key value from 0 to 1. soft reset and you'll see it now read 3G AT&T. true this is a minor cosmetic item, cuz if it shows H in the signal meter, you're better off. i've rarely seen mine show 3G. i always want to see H.

Aye ditto, can also use Schaps 3.3 to do the mod too which will allow you to call 3G whatever you want.
Thanks there Trickster. yea that's what I was referring to. I do realize that the " H " is a 3.5G which has a faster download speed than 3G.
Thanks
I absolutely hated the circle GSM icon on my Sprint G2. It does not tell me whether I am on 3G or 2G. Have been trying hard to look for various solutions to change the icon back to E/3G/H+ including various build.prop mods which always caused systemui crashes. If anyone is interested in changing the circle GSM this, we now have a way to do it
Get the latest G2 Tweaksbox Beta from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=52546253
There is an option to change the Signal Icon Set. You need to have the paid version for that feature but I can confirm it works perfectly fine on ZVC. Just a heads up. I am in no way related to the developer, just wanted to share this with anyone else looking for this.
False alarm. I got it to crash systemui after a while. I am going to work with developer and see if he can come up with a fix.
ro carrier spr and ro build operator TMO got me the 4g icon... no crashes
I changed both, ro carrier and ro operator to any other and I still get systemui fc. Tried TMO and my current carrier id.
For those who try this, if you get stuck in systemui fc loop, turn on airplane mode. That will stop it until you fix it.
The new beta of G2 Tweaksbox Xposed module fixes the crashes. Finally a way to change the GSM circle icon.
how to enable it? coz i dont have 4g or lte icon too.

did u make sure your APN is set properly ?
GOTO settings(tab view) ~ Networks ~ More ~ Mobile networks ~ Sim card 1 ~ Access point names~ and make sure its there configured properly and selected as default data APN
your screenshot shows you enabled the data but doesn't show a data logo at the bar weather it was 2-3-4g or lte
i found out as well that if your provider doesn't allow 4g-LTE on certain data packages then it wont connect to it unless its 2-3g
try the APN first , if its not that then do get in touch with your provider and make sure ur phone number/data plan is eligible for 4g-lte service
my APN configured well and my sim was subscribed to 4g data, actually the 1st lg g4 i bought the 4g icon appear because i had a problem on camera on that phone i returned it and they give me this phone but the problem now is the 4g icon.
I just got a brand new unlocked HTC 10 today straight from HTC.com. My cellular carrier is Red Pocket Mobile - an AT&T MVNO.
I connected the phone to WiFi and applied the system update for Nougat. I'm trying to set my APN for Red Pocket and it's forcing me to pick a carrier from a list that doesn't include Red Pocket. I select AT&T to get passed this and it allows me to add my APN settings. It won't let me actually switch to that APN though. There's a lock icon next to the AT&T settings and it doesn't seem to want me to change.
I've never seen this behavior on an Android phone before. Is this something new for Nougat? Is there something simple I'm missing here?
Thank you for any assistance
PS: See the attached screenshot. Notice that there's no radio button for me to click on next to the APN I've entered.
The answer is you have to select "US Travel SIM" from the list of carriers for it to allow you to switch APNs. Of course I figure it out minutes after asking for help.. :silly:
In my defense, it's not real obvious.
EDIT: I am so confused. I selected US Travel and input all the APN data. It doesn't allow me to select it now. It allows me to when I don't fill it out entirely though.
EDIT 2: The instructions I have from Red Pocket instruct me to set APN Type to: Default, mms, supl It seems like putting this in disallows me from using the APN for some reason. I hope it'll work without this setting.
