Hey gang,
So I've been rooted for... well however long its been available on our wonderful LG G4 VZ. I have successfully installed exposed along with all the standard tweaks per my liking. Here's my issue. I came across an app called Pimp my Rom, and believe it is the source of the issue. There is a GPS tweak similiar to the GPS.conf tweak you'd manually use or one of the root apps for GPS on the play store. Well ever since I have found that upon launching Maps, the app freezes within seconds. No matter what I do, reset device, reset device settings wiped app reinstalled app. Even waze won't work. Without a custom recovery I can't just reflash the "Rom" to overwrite any system tweaks.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

If anyone was wondering or has experienced this, it was due to 'force gpu render' enabled in dev settings .<br />

Just wanted to now witch system apps i can block using autostarts without stopping other apps doing their job. Im on jpm with voodoo lag fix enabled.
For better understanding on what i want to know here is an example:
On eclair i blocked gmail and calendar app from starting up and as a result i had to factory reset my phone. When i rebooted my phone i got so many force quit errors that i couldnt even browse to the autostart app and disable it.
Thanks in advance

I am using "Autostarts" since today... i would suggest, that only change one setting at a time to see, if
a. it works
b. the system still can be used
The app is very powerful, but you should know, what you are doing - i am still experimenting with certain settings
All the best,
ww
Thx for reply. And be really carefull, thats what i tried first but some things made my system crash after a few days when i downloaded a ne app what uses a service that the others didnt. Then i got kernel panic a few seconds after boot up (everytime) yso factory reset was needed.
Same is with google talk, u need that to be able to download things. I read it on xda, after factory reset again cause i would never had thought that talks got any thing to do with downloading

Well - i am still playing around with my settings... but for now, it works pretty good. It is very interesting to see, which apps will be called on certain events.
You can obtain control on the whole system, but every change regarding system and / or google apps can be dangerous indeed.
All the best,
ww
My gf got the IC2 after demoing my S. She loved it at first but after the recent OTA update she noticed that the clock widget is no longer available.
I know it's not really a big deal but thats the only convenient way to access the alarm clock.
Anyone know a way around this? And the clock apps on market isnt good as stock.
I also thought of somehow transferring my clock widget apk but I have no clue of how to do this
I appreciate any and all help!

From what I've week a factory reset

yup Factory reset is the only way to correct the issue. I've had to do it twice already within a 3 week period since the update to GB. I emailed HTC and all they could say was they know about it and they dont know when there will be a fix.
So for now Im using Beautiful Widgets and Alarm Clock Plus on my Phone
I took the gingerbread update and my clock still works fine. I did have to hunt it down though, I assumed it was an App but I found it under Widgets.
It used to be an app on Sense 1.0, I know that.
Did you check all the .apks in settings under manage applications? If its in there force stop it, clear data, cache & possibly uninstall update then uninstall before reset if not reset should do the job.. good luck

This issue is being discussed here, here, and here if anyone is interested in following.
For those that don't want to read all the posts (I don't blame you) here is the jist:
- Factory reset seems to fix it for most, but the issue comes back after a few days/weeks
- Some people have had luck getting the default clock app to reappear after installing another clock app from the market
- Most have checked the clock apps settings and found it is greyed out in the list of installed apps and is listed as 0kb
- Verizon seems to be passing people along to HTC who admits they know about the issue but don't know what will fix it or when they will have a fix (outside of the recommended factory reset)
I noticed that I've had several apps "uninstall" themselves.. all of them were on the SD card.
Seems to be a common bug among quite a few GB builds when I checked it out on Google.
Is there a way to disable "apps to sd"? I'm on the stock ROM, rooted.
I believe it would take a modified a2sd.sh script but I don't yet have the programming experience to feel comfortable altering it myself (I'm still on stock recovery so a nandroid backup isn't an option)
Should probably be a simple fix, any of you Dev's willing to chime in?
Also, anyone else noticed this happening to them?
i've seen that bug a few times, it's quite annoying, some how the OS just loses the installed info about the apps, and you have to re-install them for it to know it's still there
I am seeing this even on apps saved internally.

Same here

Just thought I should also point out this is not a hardware issue, it has happened to me on all my previous 3 android phones

Everytime I install an app, I simply make sure I "move to phone" if it gets installed on the SD card
No problems since (yet..)
Are you using an aftermarket launcher or stock launcher? In any event not sure if it matters. I'm running CM7 alpha with Launcher Pro. It randomly happens to me, but I hold the back button on CM7 to force close Launcher Pro, and when it relaunches the apps are fully present. Try killing and restarting your launcher.
I've seen this as well - currently running Bombaridier 3.5 w/ Bullet...I've had this happen on different versions of the ROM, and it's kinda like AllGamer points out: app info seems to be lost, somehow - in my observation, after a reboot. However, if you go to manage your Applications, they'll still show as installed (well, mine do anyhow.) And yeah, reinstalling is no issue.
Restart the launcher? I will have to see about that - I'm running Go Launcher Ex on Bombaridier 3.5; if I see this (hopefully not) again, I will try that to see what happens. Thanks for the tip!
No, I did not make any recent changes to any Android system files and all the apps were compatible with my device prior to a few days ago.
Okay, so I have an R800at and after browsing Google Play, I noticed that there were a lot less apps than before. Even apps that I have previously downloaded which work fine on my device now are listed as incompatible. (Twicca, TeamViewer, My Country, etc.)
I would like to provide more information but unfortunately this is all I have to go on.
EDIT: Solved! This can be fixed by changing your pixel density to 240, clearing Google Play data and cache, clearing Google Services Framework data and cache, then restarting your phone a couple of times.
Bump.
Solved! See first post.
so you did change the system files

The key word here is "recent". I changed my pixel density a very long time ago, so I didn't think it was related because the market was working fine for months after that change.

Running jbsourcery v5 (4.2.2). I can't get any process to stay running at all. Lmt dies on me and restarts after browsing the web for a bit, after that it seems to die and restart every 5 mins. I downloaded sidebar today and its the same story but worse. The memory doesn't even need to be loaded, just lightly using my phone it dies and doesn't come back until I start it manually, this happens about every 5 mins and is EXTREMELY annoying. I've tweaked every single memory setting back and forth and also tried converting both to system apps but they force close and don't work.is there any way to force android to keep a process running or keep this from happening?
Edit: I should mention this has never happened with the weather bug status bar temperature. It sucks because both those apps are completely useless if they don't stay running
for anyone else with the same problem whether its a different app or not, i think i found the answer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1012330
i just copied another file in my init.d, renamed it and added the info for the app and restarted. i checked it with rom toolbox and it shows the OOM group as being excluded... vs foreground, visibile, empty app, etc. time will tell but i think this is going to work and i can think of another 2 or 3 times this would have been amazing to know. in any event, hopefully someone else may find this useful.
noobish disclaimer: it would be HIGHLY advised not to do this with any apps that have a large memory footprint
aaaanddd. it still doesnt work, app already disappeared. would this be classified as a legitimate memory leak?
App pimp my rom has a lock app in memory setting. Tried it yet?

lol i was just about to mention that. i wasnt finding anything about it at first because i was googling locking processes in memory. once i changed processes to applications, i found a thread mentioning it, and so far, it looks like this might have finally solved it. i havent had sidebar close yet so its looking pretty good.
