Hi all,
I deleted the internal storage on my phone, and cant seem to flash a stock image using oden. I get a write protection error. I have custom recovery, and I am able to flash a few of the roms out there but not all. My main issue is I can not get a GPS signal lock using any rom. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Do you have a nandroid backup from your custom recovery that includes the EFS and Modem backed up from current update? Example: OG5.

Unfortunately I do not have a nandroid backup, it also got deleted.
I was getting a auth error using oden because I was downgrading. Flashing the latest samsung image resolved the issue for me.

Hi
I seem to be having a strange problem making a backup with CWM. Everytime i try to make a backup itll go through all the steps successfully but when backing up /data it'll say error while backing up data. Im running stock 4.0.4 and i never had a problem backing stuff up in the past, this is the first time i've had an issue. My CWM version is 6.0.12 and i also had the same problem on the older 5.something
Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

Sounds like either your cwm or ROM is corrupt. I'd reinstall cwm with ROM manager. If that doesn't work try wiping data/factory reset (will delete all your apps)
I flashed PARANOIDANDROID 2.99 BETA3 from stock DLK4, 4.1.1. It worked but I was ready to revert back to the stock using the nandroid I made before flashing and realized that I did a factory reset when flashing pdroid and lost my nandroid backups. Fortunately I have older Nandroids from 12.12 on my pc. I placed it into the clockworkmod directory, sdcard\clockworkmod\backups, as I normally would but when I reboot into recovery I don't see the nandroid that I placed there. What do I do from here? I tried to do a factory reset from kies of DLK4 but afterwards I get stuck on the "Samsung" loading screen.
Any help would be appreciated. I spent the last 4 hours going through treads as I normally do when having problems but I created my first thread because I screwed up beyond what I can repair myself
edit: while in recovery, I made a backup of pdroid2.99 to see where it saved. When I opened the directly using my pc, I couldn't find that backup I just made. I put the nandroid onto my external sd card and that I could see it in recovery but I get the following error "Error while restoring /system!"

You flashed a 4.2 ROM with an out of date recovery by the sound of it. 4.2 modifies the directory structure of you're phone which is unsupported in old recoveries. I run TWRP myself and I just moved my backups to my new root folder which can be found in: /storage/emulated/0
CWM stores recoveries in blobs and I'm unsure if this method will work for you. Your only option if that doesn't work is to ODIN back to stock. Once you've performed an ODIN back, go into your recovery and factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik.
Then update your recovery for future flashes. I recommend TWRP. Overall an easier recovery.

I successfully flashed back to stock 4.1.1 using ODIN using the rom I got from samsung-updates. I've lost IMEI so I have to inject l that back later on. I'm using CWM 6.0.1.2 and when in recovery when I try to restore my backup and get to "error while restoring /system!"
I've been trying to find other threads, tried what they suggested but no luck
edit: I've found TWRP v2.3.3.1 and but I don't see /storage/emulated/0 instead I put my backup in /storagr/TWRP/BACKUPS/911de9 and tried to restore but it fails
What I did was make a nandroid on the ROM you have and just copy and paste the old one into the new directory and you can flash that old nandroid. Worked perfect for me

This is what I typically do but now I get "error while restoring /system!" when restoring any of my old nandroid backups!
Why I like twrp. Maybe most of it is just a placebo but it seems more stable and easier to navigate

Hey folks,
I recently rooted my note 2 gt n7100 and flashed dr ketans 4.3 rom onto it.
I made a backup using cwm beforehand and I am trying to restore using that backup via cwm but it says cannot open directory and no file found. I have the backup saved on both my sd card and internal memory. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Paul
You cant use your backup. I know ive tried however you can reflash your stock 4.1.2 rom or custom rom via cwm.

Hey guys. I installed cyanogenmod 11 yesterday on my note 2. i ran into some problems. There was no service, imei and baseband fields were blank. i couldn't dial the *#After countless afters searching xda i managed to fix it by reverting back to the stock Samsung firmware (4.3).
My question is how do i install cyanogenmod 11 and also get network service now that i have my imei and base-band back. I'm not familiar with efs backing up or what to do with it to get network service working on a customer rom.
Any help is appreciated. thanks

To do that you must be rooted and have a custom recovery.
Download and Install PHILZ recovery latest version.
Make Nandroid backup using recovery. Keep it somewhere safe.
Download doctor Ketan's Multitool zip file and install it via recovery.
Now you will see Aroma window with various options. Chose EFS BACKUP.
Exit Multitool and restart the phone.
Copy EFS backup from internal memory card to Phone (approximately 20mb size)
Now Flash any rom u like.
Press thumps up if you found this suggestion helpful.

Hello other solution is to use TWRP recovery , when you do a bakup whis this recovery you can choose what you want to keep : EFS, data, system etc... and where int SdCard or extSdCard.
I hope this can help you.
Hi. It's been a while since I've done any flashing etc so not exactly sure about this. Is there a way to flash stock recovery without data loss?
I restored my s3 to stock before giving it to my niece but didn't realize twrp was still on there. I guess the phone is trying to get an ota update and ends up in twrp when restarting.

I think it has what you need.
And for those who prefer, a link to a stock recovery that is flashable from a custom recovery can be found in this thread by enewman17.
