When I turn my Verizon G4 on the Wifi initially connects, then it shuts off. I have to go into the quick settings every time and turn on Wifi. Is this a common problem? Am I missing something?

Hi,
I was wondering if there is a fix that when you have wifi turned on and are listening for example to a stream it will stop as soon as the display turns off.
With the Transformer Pad this is not the case for example.
May be there is a fix?

I know if you go into wifi settings and hit the menu key you can get an adavced mode and adjust the wifi policy there. A lot of roms I have seen on various phones have it set to turn wifi off when the screen goes off. I set mine to never turn wifi off and no more problems.
Sent from my G2 running the random rom of the day.
I have a Verizon GN. I have an issue with wifi taking a really long time to wake up after the screen has been off. Turning wifi off and on will usually work quickly, but if I don't do this, I can't access the internet sometimes for over a minute even though the wireless is supposedly on and connected (blue). This happens only on my wireless network at home (not at work). My wireless setting on the phone is set to keep wifi on during sleep and wifi optimization is checked. I've unchecked wifi optimization and it didn't really help. Is there something I need to do to my router?
Firmware B111, kicking out of wifi when screen goes off. Wifi is set up "never go off", but still it goes.
I see it on "Smart Profiles",(tried "Profile Flow" also), as I made a rule based on home wifi to switch BT off, when I'm at home.
After some time, when screen goes off, it turns BT on. When I take the phone, it "see" wifi and switches BT off again. In log file of Profile Flow I can see, how the "HOME" profile goes on and off every 5-10 or 15 minutes.
So, the problem is- why WIFI does not keep on all the time. All the possible battery savers are taken off, but still no constant wireless network connection during phone sleep...
And my wifi based profiles don't work as they suppose to...
double check power save option?

I had a similar issue but when I switch Power Plan option from Smart to Normal in Power Manager, it seems it's ok now

About crapware...don't know- all apps are from Play store...
I never have my Wi-Fi on, but when I look at the battery stats, it indicates that Wi-Fi is constantly awake.
Anyone else see this behavior? I also have the Wi-Fi location scanning disabled.
I thought there was an additional option somewhere that lets the phone scan for something using wifi, even when wifi is turned off. I believe it is called wifi scanning and is under location settings. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
Try going to settings, location, then menu and scanning. There you can turn off scanning for wifi and/or bluetooth. I believe that is what forces it on but others can correct me.
Edit, sorry didn't see someone answered the same above me.
Yes, I have that disabled, but the battery stats still say Wi-Fi is always active.
Here's a screenshot of what I'm talking about

I switched to airplane mode for a few minutes, which is reflected with the cellular signal activity. The Wi-Fi activity is still showing as on.
I checked with GSam battery monitor, and Wi-Fi doesn't appear to be actually on.
Have you tried the network reset?
I have disabled wifi/BT scanning, keep wifi on only when plugg-in, and then I go to "backup & reset" then reset the network. Now my Wifi does seem to be "not" always on.

Tried it. Still shows Wi-Fi as always on. Ugh
I have the same problem.
Maybe a just a display bug in settings/power menu?
Yes I do see the same. This is very strange and not very nice, when you want some feature off it should be turned off.
I had this problem too. Turns out it was viber which kept WiFi awake.
You need to disable wi-fi scanning.
Hi. Today I have discovered what was causing my battery life bad. So, if I turn off WiFi when I'm connected to router - it will turn off properly. When I turn on wifi and turn off (without connecting) it will stay in 'scanning mode' even if the icon says it is turned off. Is there any possible fix for that?
