I've got a H815, rooted on v10b with a locked bootloader, I want to perform a full factory reset.
Will this cause any issues, and will it still be rooted when I have performed the wipe?
Cheers

the "unlock thing" on the Google screen indicates that the bootloader is already unlocked. The bootloader must be unlocked before you can root. While unlocking the bootloader will wipe the data, that has already been done, so no need to worry about it. Rooting will not wipe any data.

There is a way to switch without wiping the contents of /sdcard, but it will wipe your apps and app data, but that's what Titanium Backup is for.
If you u use cwm u can flash ROM and just wipe davik cache which should keep data intact.

I would not recommend. Clean install is always best.

I agree. Especially when coming from ICS to JB, you want to fully wipe data and system. just wiping cache/dalvik cache without a full data/system wipe is a terrible idea (except when loading a minor update of a ROM that is currently running on your phone). If you don't do a full wipe, you'll have a lot more issues/force closes/weird things happening.
I used fastboot to update to JRO03C, then on to twrp.
I was running AOKP Jellybean and rebooted my phone which updated the OTA Jellybean update I was unaware of (not like Verizon ever gets things done) and now it bootloops. I can access recovery, ODIN, and have tried my back ups which none of them can load /data, and have tried to simply reflash the rom, which bootloops with the roms boot animation, and have tried wiping data/cache/dalvik/battery stats and nothing worked. Is there anyway to wipe it completely and start from there, or at least get a backup working/computer-saved backup on there? It appears I can't access the phone from my computer because I last used fast charge and now the computer doesn't know it's plugged in. Am I screwed?
try to format system in cwm...and reflash your rom
good luck

I second the factory reset.
Do you have access to Fastboot? If so, why not push commands to the phone and factory reset it and start fresh?
Sorry for the late reply, it still was bootlooping after a factory reset, I just got a replacement GNex. Thanks to those who replied though.
I apologize if this is covered elsewhere, I did not come across the question or answer in my search.
I have a Rogers Note II (GT-N7105/SGH-I317M).
It is running stock touch whiz 4.1.2. I had been running custom roms, but after their various issues, I am going with stock samsung at the moment.
I have TWRP installed as the custom recovery, and I used it to restore my backup I took right after rooting.
Not having any issues, but I am simply wanting to know if I can go into Settings >> Backup and Reset and the perform a factory reset of the phone to erase all apps and data.
I am not trying to unroot the phone or anything like that. This phone is a work phone and I am going to be turning it in for the Note 3 next week. I would like to erase my content before doing so, again, not trying to unroot it (I have the tools such as Triangle away, stock firmware and Odin) just want to do a wipe and reset it for the next person who may use it.
So again, the question. If I factory reset via settings will there be any issues or will it simply go back to a rooted blank rom with no apps data?
Or will I end up with a mess?
Thanks for the help!
Factory reset will only wipe your personal data that you entered nothing will affect system or any modifications on it you will see no mess just a clean phone

So I essentially will have a rooted phone with a romantic that is set back to stock? Which is exactly what I am trying to achieve.
The fact that I have twrp installed makes no difference?
Exactly it will not affect system you will have clean stock rooted with twrp installed

I did this many times before with rooted and romed htc devices running things like cm and insert coin + sense but I wasnt sure how pick an already picky Samsung rom would be when rooted.

Hi,
Phone is Xperia Arc S
Rooted
No unlocked bootloader
No custom ROM
Now if I do Factory Reset, what will happen?
1) Any horrible thing eg. bricking / malfunctioning / corrupted firmware
2) Clean factory reset + Rooted device
3) Clean factory reset + Unrooted device
Please suggest.
Warm Regards,
Maria.
According to my experience,
U will still have a reset rooted device which is the 2)

A factory reset, as far as I know, only erases Data and Cache partitions. It leaves your System partition alone, as well as all your files stored on SD card (re-formatting it gets rid of those).
Your phone will still be rooted afterwards, but reset to its original state app-wise.
I have just flashed 1.90.401.5 in order to get the latest firmware.
I then installed TWRP and restored my nandroid backup (Latest ICE Rom).
I went through setup and set a pattern/fingerprint and all is well except that it doesn't recognise the pattern to unlock the phone.
I can still unlock it via the fingerprint.
I then performed a factory reset, re-enetered my pattern - but still have the same issue.
I am now flashing the RUU (again) and restoring apps etc via TB which I'm sure will work.
Anyone got any ideas on what is happening here

Die you check the TWRP thread, FAQ no. 10. Is this the issue you got!? It's very likely as you're restoring an ICE Nand where you might have set a PIN prior to backing it up.
Hmmm, so it appears you need to remove security before taking a nandroid backup.. Cheers m8
