I have note 4 vzw retail LP with 2BOF1. Can I root it?
If I can , do I downgrade first? I being trying for 4 hour .. it keeps brick when I flash...
You can NOT root or downgrade to an older android version once the phone took the OTA or kies of the LP build ending in OF1

You can't root a VZW Note 4 Retail. It has a locked bootloader.

So far they haven't rooted it but I wouldn't say never. I kinda doubt they will give up because nobody likes the Note 5.

Yeah but you will lose root.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
Yes you can, only if you have not uninstalled anything after rooting since all the stock apps (bloatware) needs to be on the phone when using ota updates.
Just wait for a rooted version of the rom to come out
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
Forgot to mention you will not loose root either when doing an ota. Since the whole point of ota updating is to keep root while updating
If you have an unlocked bootloader you can root easily. The only way for people with a locked bootloader to update and keep root is ota updating.

I had an evo 4g rooted and when the gingerbread update rolled out I lost all root completely and was unable to root. When I got my nexus is when root was available for gingerbread evo
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
Did you do your gingerbread update with ota? If i flashed 2.3.3 or 4.0.a (instead of ota) then gingerbreak would not work since it was patched but using ota allows us with the xperia play on a locked bootloader keep root should be the same for all using gingerbread? Maybe not?
I started on 2.3.2 rooted. Used ota to get to 2.3.3 and root was still kept. I have just updated today using ota to the newest update and i still have root.

This isnt the evo, its not even a HTC device. There are so many diffrences between the 2 companies. For example if we OTA update with unlocked bootloaders. We brick our phones. I had s-off on my hero, desire and DHD and didnt have any problem OTA updating.

I have the AT&T 4G LTE Version Note 8 that I bought in August. It had an available update so I updated. Then I tried using framework and a toolkit to root and was unable to do so. I would like to ask anyone if there is a way to root my device is currently running 4.1.2. Thnx!

You can root your device go to the development forums for your note 8.0 and download a custom recovery like twrp or cwm. You need to flash it with Odin. I would give you the links, but I'm new here so I can't give links. After you flash your recovery find superuser.zip somewhere online and flash it with your bootloader.
Again I would give you the links but I can't post any so just Google them.

Search is your friend, use it. The AT&T GN8 has been rooted but we still don't have a method of unlocking the bootloader, which means that custom ROMs and recoveries are not possible now.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2430540
Since SGH-I467 has a locked bootloader, rooting it is a challenge. Originally I was not going to do it knowing the difficulties, but when a file explorer complained it couldn't write to the external SD card without root, I know I must root it.
Please be aware SGH-I467M (note the ending M) is a different animal. The Canadian version's bootloader is UNLOCKED, and thus rooting it is a breeze!
With my SGH-I467 I tried many different methods. Finally I was able to root it using Kingo Root (not Kingroot). Kingo Root is actually a one click rooting method. Just proceed with the instruction by the program.
Hey guys, I need some help. How can I unlock the bootloader on the N3 and root it? This is my first time to have a locked phone. Altough it supports different SIM cards, the bootloader is locked. And yeah - should I wait until KitKat update comes out or should I root it now? Thanks in advance!

Great thing about T-Mobile is bootloaders are not locked. Just root first from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2466423 and install your custom recovery afterwards.
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
The T-Mobile Note 3 does not have a locked bootloader, simply use Odin to flash a custom recovery and/or root the stock OS. It is carrier locked but not bootloader locked. Only the AT&T and Verizon variants are locked (and I think Verizon has a "developer" unlocked variant).

Thanks for that, but when I search for ROMs should I download roms for the international version of Note3 or Tmobile? Or is there any difference since bootloader is unlocked? And how can I root without tripping KNOX?

This was answered in your other post. You gonna need to read and research. Knowledge is your friend. The devs here put in the first line what phones the rom will work for. If it a T-Mobile phone then you in right area.

This phone is on latest version 4.4.2 kit kat.
I've seen the root videos on YouTube and haven't seen any of them unlock the bootloader. Is that not necessary?
Secondly if I mess up in the root process and soft brick it, what software can I use to restore back to normal. Is there one made by LG? Like apples "iTunes" and Samsung "Odin"
I'm wanting to root to unlock phone to use with tmobile.

Use ioroot25 for root.
Use auto-rec for TWRP. Then follow unlock methods to use gsm carriers. Just know you will only get hspa. As the phone has different radios

OK thanks. Auto rec is to get it out of a bricked state? Yes I am aware of no lte.
Also is this a factory unlock? Will I lose it if I need to do a restore to stock rom unrooted?

Auto-rec will install TWRP recovery. Unlock boot loader and give kernel that works with it.
With recovery you can backup and restore if something goes wrong.

Has anyone tried the King root method for 6.0? When I Check if root is available it says a method was found I just don't want to risk my phone breaking again
Interesting in curious if this works please update

They have mentioned more than once that root access cannot be obtained on MM unless the bootloader was unlocked !
So, don't get hopes on something that cannot be done ?
