Rooting Droid Incredible II using htcdev & Windows - hboot issue? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Hi all. I'm trying to use htcdev to unlock a Droid Incredible II using Windows 7. I've been successful in doing this with a Thunderbolt, but the Droid is not cooperating.
On Windows, I've installed the HTC Sync Manager, and adb (JDK, Android SDK) using this guide (remove the spaces): androidforums.com/ threads/ adb-guide-updated-2014-11-11.443072/.
I can do:
Code:
fastboot getvar all
but not:
Code:
fastboot oem XXX
I gather this means I need a more up-to-date hboot. Is that right? Where can I find a new hboot to flash?
/D

Edited for clarity - and because I got the whole procedure to work on a Thunderbolt (so it appears I'm not totally clueless!

If I'm right that I need to flash new stock software, then it looks like I've got this:
RUU_Vivo_W_VERIZON_WWE_1.34.605.4_Radio_0.99.01.0225_2_NV_VZW1.92_release_182876_signed.exe

and need this:

Click to collapse
both found at (remove spaces): androidruu.com/ index.php? developer=Vivo_VivoW
I understand that I need to stick to 2.3.3 if I want to S-Off later (though that used revolutionary.io, which doesn't seem to be around any longer). Can anyone confirm and confirm is this is the proper way to do the flash (again remove spaces): teamandroid.com/ 2012/ 09/ 02/ how-to-update-htc-devices-install-ruu/

Well, I flashed the updated ROM, which was Android 2.3.3 and remained HBOOT 0.97.0000 (details below). The phone still does not recognize the commands:
Code:
fastboot oem XXX
The most updated ROM at that androidruu site is:
RUU_Vivo_W_Gingerbread_S_VERIZON_WWE_5.10.605.9_Radio_1.09.01.1111_NV_VZW1.92_release_225831_signed.exe
Click to collapse
I understand from this link (remove spaces: rootzwiki.com/ topic/ 18873-ruu-htc-incredible-2-signed-ruus-pg32imgzip/), that it is 2.3.4 and HBOOT 0.98.
That concerns me because:
(1) it seems that I may need HBOOT 1.02 to to get those commands (see: android.stackexchange.com/ questions/ 19270/ problem-with-unlocking-the-htc-wildfire-bootloader-with-htc-unlocker). So, does anyone know of any later version?
(2) I gather that if I want s-off in the future via revolutionary, I need to have HBOOT < 0.98 (Is this correct?)

Anyone know how to reach these guys?

I tried both rumrunner.us and moonshine.io. Neither worked. They both say you need an htcdev unlock before running.

Reflash Recovery and install another Rom, maybe this could help.

VZW M8 Might be bricked, S- off, unlocked, Hboot and fastboot access only.

I've thrown everything I can find about 12 hours worth at my friends HTC M8. I can't solve it. I used to have HTC but have Samsung so maybe I'm missing something.

Need help getting Developer Edition back to stock

My office recently purchased a used HTC One M8 Developer Edition device for testing purposes. I was under the impression that it was stock, but I was wrong. It had TWRP installed. The system alerted me that there's a system update, but when I try to install it, it just boots into TWRP. I managed to flash the stock recovery back to it, but when I try to apply the update, it just boots to the fastboot screen, and does nothing.

I'm adb/fastboot savvy as a Nexus user, but the HTC world is unfamiliar to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I've been looking up various articles and posts for the last 3 hours trying to figure this out.

You could just flash the developer RUU. Either Lock the bootloader and flash it via a PC (with htc sync installed) or put it on an sdcard and see and flash it from that.
Reading the Instructions helps. (PC Install)
http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8/news/
Latest RUU on their website is newer then the one you have flashed.
Thanks @Tachi91! I appreciate the nudge in the right direction!

I have managed to install TWRP.
The various supposedly stock roms I've found as zip files are corrupt: I can't open the zip file, the zip refuses to install via fastboot flash, via sdcard, or via TWRP.
Would you please have a link for legit stock rom for this model? Thank you!
