Now that we have root is there any way to trick Google drive into adding the free 100 GB of storage some carriers gave and Verizon took away.

Tried editing through phone got someone from Sprint to upload theirs. However it won't let me put LGLS991. Stops at the first 9. Have not tried editing through a PC though
Use a different editor. You should be able to change the build type in the build.prop and trick google drive into allowing the 100gb storage. Just be careful with the build.prop because screwing something up will cause you to boot loop. So backup important data in case you have to flash the KDZ to restore your phone. You should be able to adb push a backup build.prop from a console to recover a bootloop but above is worst case scenario.

Changed a couple lines and upon reboot they were unchanged lol. Model and Product... Set them to Sprint and when it rebooted they were back to Verizon
Since I'm a little daring, I just straight up replaced the build.prop on my VS986 with the one from the LS991. It booted just fine, without a data connection, but WiFi works. I cleared Drive data and reopened the app. No prompt during the Product Tour regarding extra space. I think we can safely say that it isn't checking the build.prop.
Another possibility is that the check is done whenever you initially sign into the device with your Google account.

Do you mean when you first boot after a factory reset? I dunno. Google drive comes preloaded but I don't think it initially starts until you first load it. Is the promotion still even still valid?
I know there were some wishy/washy responses from Google about the promo that it was "fake" or "rumored and untrue".
Maybe you have to uninstall the Google Drive app and install fresh

Correct. When you first login to the device you should get an email notification stating so. I'm sure that they collect the device data at that point for stuff like that promotion to do a cross-check when you login to the app.

So, really, the only way would be to flash a rom of a variant that is in that promotion.
Still pretty stupid. I saw the ad. It clearly states "Buy a G4 and get 100gb free".
LG has always done stuff like this with storage. I remember a few LG phones coming with DropBox and other storage promos.
So here it is. WHAT IF you factory format the phone. Swap out the build.prop PRIOR to first boot (using the COM method maybe?). I am not sure you can ADB push the file over before setting it up.
OR you can get ballsy and flash the "rooted sprint system image" and see if it boots. I would think the worst case scenerio would require a KDZ back, but hopefully able to boot, grab the promotion, flash the Verizon rooted System image, and reboot again into a normal rooted verizon rom.

I'm thinking a simpler solution would be to remove your Google account, modify the build.prop, and sign back in. Of course, this is all speculation.

So verizon forces this update to my phone. Not sure what it was, but it didn't give me an option to cancel, or defer. Now when my phone tries to boot, I get the little android error screen with the triangle and exclamation point, and the phone will not boot. I have already booted into recovery, and wiped everything with no luck at all. Did a full wipe and restore, which had it up and running again, but this morning, same thing. Triangle and exclamation point error screen from where the update was unsuccessful. What do I need to do to block this update so I don't have to do a restore every few hours? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Anthony
Same crap happened to my wife's phone yesterday, she is running Skyraider and VZW keep trying to forced update and fux0r the rom, had to wiped cache/dalvik, reload the rom on top of it so she can retain her data, as soon as I loaded up the phone I turned off the wifi, 3G, and auto sync then immediately performed the following steps to stop that ****.
otacerts.zip (rename it .bak or whatever)
com.smithmicro.dm (freeze it with titanium backup)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ing+OTA&page=2
I don't have the "donate" version of backup, so I can't freeze the stuff. If I unroot, I assume it will fix the problems.
Here's what I did after accepting the update:
I am rooted (stock rom) and accepted the OTA, after the install the phone will not boot completely it will fail with a white triangle, yellow exclamation point and blue android. To get the phone working again pull the battery, re-insert after a bit and boot into hboot, go to recovery and clear cache partition, this will put the phone back into service. I didn't wipe the davlik.
I got another forced OTA d/l yesterday and had to redo the above. I have renamed the otacerts.zip to .bak and I am anxiously waiting what happens the next time the OTA tries to d/l.
there are 2 otacerts.zip files:
etc/security
system/etc/security
which one needs to be renamed?
thanks.

I used AntTek App Manager (free in the Market) to freeze it.

Lame.
And to the OP - once you have secured the donate version of TiBu you can freeze the com.smithmicro.dm file like stated before.

If you have paid $100~300 for a smartphone and pays $30 a month, I think you can pay $6. If you can't pay for one time deal, why would you have a smartphone that costs you $30+ a month? Promoting warez site is against the XDA rule and no respect to developers

Maybe I was a bit harsh - and I am sorry for calling you out.
Its just that I would find it hard to believe that the OP couldnt afford a 6 dollar app after paying a couple hundred bucks for the phone and about 70 to 100 a month for service.
Its like buying a luxury car but not being able to pay for the maintainence and upkeep.

I proudly pay what little money I can to developers.
If I "Try" an app and plan to use it, then I pay for it.
I try to show some form of dignity to people that follow my lead..
An option would be to unroot and do what vomitrizen wants you to do.
If you can't afford to support the development community you should not be here.
And to crazyfireman, the same file is showing in two paths only because there second folder containing actual file.
Change either one and youwill be good.

Don't apologize. Anyone posting or recommending warez here puts the community in jeopardy. It doesn't matter how many "other" apps one has paid for, that entitles you to NOTHING extra; one theft is still theft. Posting advice on how to commit piracy is a potential liability to the site itself. Mod notified.

Having the same problem, but HBOOT is behaving strangely: it is not allowing me to use up or down arrows to go through the menu. It immediately asks "Do you want to start update?" and then allows me to select yes or no with volume up or down. It then prompts me to reboot, at which time I'm back to the same routine: Phone shuts off after about 20 seconds, ends up with exclamation point inside white triangle with green android guy.
Phone is not recognized by windows despite updating drivers so no luck with adb.
Any ideas?
You have a file in your SD card names PG32IMG.zip. so it sees it, and needs to "update"

I am having this same issue. From what I gather in reading this thread, I first need to clear my phone’s cache, then rename 1 file, and freeze another. I have a few questions about that I hope someone is willing to answer for me.
First, to the best of your knowledge are the steps I described above correct?
Second, before I clear my cache I want to verify that I’m doing it properly:
What I think I should do it boot in Revolutionary Clockwork Mod and then select “wipe cache partition”. Is that correct?
Lastly, I don’t have Titanium backup or AntTek App Manager installed on my phone. I can probably track down the apk on the net somewhere but how do I install it without being able to get past CWM? Can I just move the apk into the system/app directory?
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help shed some light on these questions for me.

That's my problem. HBOOT and Clockwork Mod seem to be working fine for me.
Also, I have no problem paying $6 for the app but right now I cannot use my phone so I cannot install anything from the market. If I can track down the apk (which I have been unsuccessful at doing so far) I can move it onto my phone and into the system/app directory through the adb shell.
So, do you have any thoughts on my original questions? Thanks!

I have the premium version/donate copy of Titanium Backup, which I used to freeze that com. file, but I cannot find that .zip file anywhere.
I was one of the first people to install Google Wallet on their Nexus. I live in London, but at the time, Wallet worked perfectly. I purchased McDonald's food on two separate occasions using the free $10 from Google. This was all on ITL14F firmware.
I then decided to reflash my firmware, so that I could cleanly update to ITL14D via OTA. After this, I tried flashing the Google Wallet zip with CWM again. Everything seemed to work fine, until I tried to re-add my Google Prepaid card. Ever since, I simply get 'error adding card' when trying to add the Google prepaid card. This happens even if I flash back to ITL14F or update to 4.0.2 using the clean APK.
There seems to be at least one other person on XDA with this problem. Is there a solution? It's possible that it's now a hardware issue, and that perhaps Google have blocked my phone's IMEI/NFC chip - I've tried adding cards with two different Google accounts, but I get the same error. But it's difficult to confirm this, since Google's customer services have always sucked so hard. Wallet still shows the cross-border $0.02 fees for the purchases, but not the actual purchases like it used to.
I just checked my Google account settings and under my Android devices I noticed that "com.android.nfc3" is backed up by Google on my Nexus. Could this be the issue?
I have a nandroid backup of my system prior to first installing Google Wallet on ITL14F. Could I extract 'com.android.nfc3' and put it into my current firmware?

I have the same problem. I've flashed back to other ROMs and tried pre TI restore and post. Done it through with ME set to TMobile and connected through WiFi on my US IP router. I'm thinking about trying to add a Prepayed MC to see if that will work.
Might toss in my TMobile Sim at some point as well to see if that helps.
So what is the score with Google Wallet app use in the UK? I know its not supported on the nexus anywhere in the world and the app is not supported in the uk on any phone but what i really want to know is...
1) can you add funds to the prepaid card?
2) where can you use it?
3) Is there likely to be a permanent problem with the phones getting blacklisted if indeed that is whats happening with people who can no longer get the app to work.
Currently i have it running using the market enabler and apk method but have since read reports of some secure chip outside the control of the os which may be preventing people using the app. I dont want to find out that once GW is officially supported on the GN in the UK that i can no longer use it. I was also hoping to flash some roms but sounds like that might be dodgy too.
Google Walltet Problem
Well I added my google wallter applicated on my phone yesterday. I set it up, I added google prepaird card, I got the 10 dollars on it and then that evening I unlocked my phone which wiped everything of my phone. I re-installed the application and when I go to add the google prepaid card, it says error adding card.
Is there anyway to fix this?

i think i figured it out i was having the same problem i did the steps in the adb shell to remove it but did not re-add it. then returned back to stock(4.0.1), locked bootloader. unlocked boot loader booted up 4.0.1 updated to 4.0.2 then i unlocked boot loader rooted and added wallet.apk from post on here it hung on adding card for about 5 mins the next time i check it was working again. google wallet looks like it will not work on non stock roms. any questions pm me

Same here.
Luckily it hasn't locked me out of NFC yet.
I called and talked to two people so far over at Citi. They tried to reset it on their end or something, not really sure.
I was told to reset in the app via the menu in wallet and I've done that multiple times and nothing has happened. They told me they would get in contact with the same person whom I talked to the first time and they'll contact Phil. So I'll give an update when I hear something.

really? well chit. i have tried everything. reboots, reflashed rom, uninstall, reinstall lol and still the same stupid message.
I tried to fix the google play store error by using the steps provided online (that seemed to work for most people) and now my phone will not boot past the initial galaxy screen. The screen goes blank and then I see a solid blue LED light at the top left of the phone.
I would like to know if backing up files at this point is possible, because I'm assuming the only true fix is a factory reset.
I was told that android has a built in fail-safe that would still allow me to access the files through a PC via USB. That has not worked for me. My computer shows nothing. I wonder if there is a way to reinstall just the android operating system (much like you would do with a windows pc) so that no files are erased and just the OS is reinstalled.
I've tried booting in safe mode, tapping the menu button doesn't do anything.
Any help/advice would be much appreciated. I'm ok with performing a factory reset, I'd just like to back up images and audio files before doing so.
Thanks

What play store error were you trying to fix and what exactly did you do to try and fix it?
It sure sounds like you've managed to wipe the internal memory clean. If so your only hope is to use Odin to restore it back to stock. If it works it'll work great but you will lose everything on the phone. Though again it really sounds like you have nothing on the phone.
The only other thing to try would be using Odin to flash a recovery. Then boot into recovery and see if you can back up the data partition. If that works you can use the recovery to reinstall a ROM.
Do people not do nandroid backup anymore?
☞ Sent from here☜???
The error I kept getting said "insufficient storage space available."
I had over 3 gigs of space left on my phone's internal memory.
I tried all of the obvious stuff before even seeking help online (clearing cache, making sure the system memory wasnt taken up).
Anytime my phone would attempt to update an app it would fail and remove the app entirely. Amazon Mobile was the first to go. It's only a 5Mb app and it said I didn't have enough storage space...yet I could download a 100Mb app I didn't already have and it would work fine.
I tried online suggestions like removing my google account from my phone, reverting the app store back to the stock version, re-adding the google account, then rebooting, and then my phone stopped working.
I'm pretty sure I know exactly what caused my phone not to be able to boot anymore though. Some people online had success using a google play store market fix app that is on the play store itself (not some sketchy site no one's ever heard of). I tried that, then when I rebooted it seems like my phone was bricked. A lot of people had said that app worked for their GS4's.
Any suggestions? I wish I could just reinstall android, get the files, then restore to factory conditions (if necessary).
I still have no idea what this problem is that you were trying to fix. I have never heard of this.
Still, using Odin to restore your phone to stock will work. Just flash the .tar file in Odin and it will be like you just took the phone out of the box.

I wanna help you. I really do. But I can't do anything without knowing the step by step details of what you did to get to this point.
Without that info there is no way to help you back out of thsi without a full wipe. So you are stuck with using Odin to do a full restore.

The step by step details of what I did are a couple posts back (I tried online suggestions like removing my google account from my phone, reverting the app store back to the stock version, re-adding the google account, then rebooting, and then my phone stopped working).
After that I tried a couple of the apps on the google play store that are supposed to be 1 click fixes for the google play store update error. That was my mistake. A lot of people had success with those 1 click fixes, but thats what I believe bricked my phone. I would tell you which app specifically but I can't access my phone (obviously) and they won't come up on the PC version of Google Play search.
Thank you for your desire to help. Is there any other method of communication we could use that might be more efficient for me to be able to answer your questions? IM or fbook chat or something?

Looking for some feedback on tools after rooting for doing a complete image of the phone. I need to setup about 14 phones and would like to get one set then image the rest. The only concern I have is the google account on each phone, I'll have to remove the one contained in the image and apply the new one, does anyone know if that will cause issues with the installed apps? I get that if they are google account based apps those apps would need to go through setup again.
Thanks,
~DC

Is deploying the app your only target? Or you want some of the system settings to be deployed as well?
If the apps are already installed and I'm taking what you're saying is you're going to basically copy and paste for my lack of more technical terms, from one phone to a few others right? Well if so the apps will not pass the installation of any updates at least for paid apps. Any apps you'd like to be system apps just drop in system/apps.

I want to create a base image to deploy to all the phones. The base image will not contain any paid apps, mostly google services with a few utilities for tracking bandwidth and others for locking down features. After deploying the image to all the phones I would changes each google account to for the user that will get the phone. Once each user's phone is setup I will create an image for each user for restoring.
I was concerned I would not be able to remove the initial google account, I believe this was something locked in earlier versions of android but not an issue now. Phones are in today so I'll be testing everything. I have to document the process so I'll post a guide.
Thanks!

Sounds awesome. I'd compile something for you from source but knox is fluffing crazy. Your Google account can be transferred from the main account to another if you shall succeed by making the second one you attached to the device the primary. But you I don't think can remove the main account unless you fully wipe the device but after you swap the primary account in settings you can then delete your original. Please do share the guide I'm sure it'll come in handy.

If you have custom recovery on the phones: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=scd.app2zip
Don't have custom recovery and use SD card: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.infolife.appbackup
Phone's rooted, install was success, and subsequent restarts after that was fine. But now I removed some Verizon and LG crapware and after a restart, I get Failed to boot and then it loads the Verizon Flash screen, and occasionally gets to "Android is updating" and loading apps and immediately crashes. Any tips?
Try a factory reset? Root will stay.

Factory reset did not work.
Odd, I don't really have any other advice, don't think the Verizon version has a kdz

Yes the KDZ is out right now, but I have no idea how to flash it.
Edit, do I go through the process in the root thread but replace the file listed with the kdz?
Ouch...this is why I only disable system apps that I'm not sure about, as opposed to actually removing them.
I'm really not sure what you can do if a factory reset isn't working? Flash back to stock is the only thing I can think of?

Thanks a lot, I'm gonna give this a try. Would i possibly be able to message you on skype if you have it?

Sorry I'm a bit busy at the moment. I've never used that return to stock before anyway. Should be easy enough. it's the only thing I can think of trying.
You're not supposed to conpletely uninstall system apps when on stock rom. This will result in security errors (os checks its system files to see if it's been tampered with) and then refuse to boot. This is not specific to the G4 but almost all LG devices
we should probably start a list of bloat that we can actually uninstall/remove as opposed to simply blocking!
There is a DeBloater thread already here. I don't recall a list of what is OK to remove, but people have been posting their log files or which ones THEY removed.
I'd like to add, that I was able to get back to stock with ease.
How were you able to get back to stock?

I just went through this and I think I figured out which app is causing the constant reboots. Mine was literally rebooting approximately 100 times per day (not exaggerating)...Use Titanium Backup and freeze "Android System Webview" so far that seems to have solve my issue. Hope this helps anyone experiencing this reboot nonsense! Good luck!
So I ran into this same problem and after reading this thread about removing system applications on a stock rom I've learned my lesson. I just finished using a Debloater application on my rooted G4 and everything was operating smoothly while I was using the phone. Initially I only blocked the apps I was focusing on (some 30 of them) but eventually ended up deleting them. I decided to reboot my phone just to cover my bases and now I'm getting a boot screen error underneath the LG symbol that says "Start up failed. Your device didn't start up successfully..." I'm able to boot into the stock recovery and attempted a factory reset to no avail. I also attempted to run USB Debugging but it just reset and went back to the bootloop.
Any advice on how to flash back to stock?
If need be and flashing back to stock isn't necessary I have screenshots of the apps I deleted thanks to the backups created by Gates Jr's Debloater app.

Disregard my previous request for help I was able to follow the KDZ flashing method posted earlier in this thread and now my apps are optimizing great success!
