[Q] lg g3 d855 constantly restart while in sleep mode - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I just bought a new Lg G3 D855 32GB android 5.0 OS, international version.
From the beginning I encountered the following problem:
When the phone is in the sleep mode and not connected to the charger the phone restart itself in loop every 3-8 minutes, if it is connected to the charger the problem doesn't occur.
If I disable the phone from entering the sleep mode by setting "Screen Timeout" in the Display setting to "Keep screen turned on" the problem doesn't occur either charger is connected or disconnected
I made system factory reset and didn't install any application -> didn't help, the same problem.
I replaced the battery to a known good battery although my battery is new -> didn't help the same problem.
Please help
Orr Shir

LG G3 Random Switch off - Requires charge to switch on
So my LG G3 D855 is randomly switching off while I'm using it and requires charge to switch itself back on. The power button won't work until I plug in the charger.
The original battery is way worse - requires constant charge and if I unplug it the phone switches off. So I bought an OEM battery. It works but at certain times will switch off requiring me to plug a charger for it to work.
Any solutions? Please help

its best if you unroot it and take it to a service center to have it looked it
sounds like its a hardware problem

Changing the battery solved my problem, that was similar to your's!

My M8 turns off by itself & afterwards settings etc are reset!

I'm experiencing a weird problem with my M8. The unit would turn itself off all of a sudden. This happens without a low battery warning and no other error messages or warning displayed on screen. No beeps or audio cues, either. I would be looking at it and using it as per normal when it would just power down and turn off all by itself. This has happened twice in the last two weeks. In both instances, they have these in common:
a) Battery was low but not critically so. IIRC, the first time it happened the battery was at 25% and the latest incidence the battery was at 18%. The low battery warning usually given at 15% power wasn't displayed.
b) In both cases, I've just only turned the display on & started using the M8 for less than 15 seconds before it turns off.
c) In both instances, the mobile data & GPS was on. Wifi was off. Phone wasn't charging and the camera/flash was also off.
What I do after this happens is I would go home & charge the phone using the original M8 charger. The charging battery icon would be displayed and the charging level tallies with the last charge level that I see before the phone turns off. I let the phone charge for about 10 minutes or so before tinkering with it.
What's frustrating is that after these sudden shutdowns, some of my settings were reset & the phone will be wonky. I had to re-do the settings in both the settings app & also Google settings according to my preferences. Some default apps were cleared as well, so the phone would ask which app I'd like to use for my Home screen (either Sense Home or Nova Launcher, which I use exclusively). Some developer options were reset too, e.g animation scale etc. Other basic settings as well, such as auto updating apps in Google Play Store.
Also, first time it happened, I was locked out of my phone. The lock screen is displayed but all the PIN combinations I've tried seems to be wrong. The lock screen would go off after I try inputting the PIN. Restart by pressing vol button with power button didn't work at all. I'd touch the screen, the lock screen will be displayed, I'd try inputting PIN but I guess it's wrong because the screen just goes off. In the end, I had to reset the PIN number using Android Device Manager on Chrome running on my desktop PC. Only then was I able to access my phone. My wallpaper was reset, although my app icons on the desktop was the same as before. Apps were all there.
The 2nd time this happened was yesterday. I wasn't locked out of my phone but all my text messages (SMS) were lost. No other loss of data, as far as I can tell. But some of the settings, default app preferences & also app permissions were reset. Had to redo them all over again. Getting a bit tiring, this.
I don't understand what's happening. My M8 is on 6.0, stock ROM & unrooted. Never rooted. I've done the battery calibration steps once but that was before the Marshmallow update. When my M8 was running Lollipop, there were times when it would turn itself off as well but it was triggered by using the camera flash at low battery levels. However, settings, app preferences & permissions were not reset at all then.
Has this happened to anyone? What could be wrong? Would appreciate any & all feedback Thanks in advance.
This happens to me too. My battery is dodgy and it turns itself off when the battery is displaying anywhere up to 30%!! What I have found is that if you attempt to turn the phone on and it turns back off during the boot process then this is what screws up the settings. As long as it is charging and completes the boot without turning off then the settings are fine.
This is a MM problem. Wasn't present with LP as you and others have reported.
The only possible fixes on your end is to do a factory reset and then run the phone down until it shuts off and then charge to 100% with the phone still off. You can also try holding power+vol up+vol down for 2 minutes. This should wipe battery calibration stats. These suggestions may or may not resolve the problem but are worth trying.

Its happening to me!
I thought this was MM issue but i have flashed cm 14.1 and still the same problem is happening. My phone turns of somewhere between 15%-30% everytime. I have tried re-calibrating the battery but it didn't help. Now i am thinking to sell the device due to this issue.
My girlfriend had the same problem with her HTC one M8.
I've replaced the memorycard with a new one last week and it didn't happen since. Hopefully this will solve the problem
Hi together.
I want to give an information about my experience with sudden shut off. I had this issue with my M8 since about six months now. Tried the stuff with recalibrating the accu without success.
Last thing I did was changing the accu. And now everything is all right. The power is remaining much longer over the daily use and I can bring it down below 15% without sudden death.

sleep of death.. help please !!

Hi.. my phone is xperia T2 ultra dual (D5322) running on 5.1.1 official firmware ( not rooted)... since about 3 weeks it becomes unstable and automatically restarts whenever goes to sleep mode... but when I use it or charge it, it won't restart. this consumes the battery, and it's very annoying
is there any solution other than rooting or resetting it.... ?
thanks
I've found a solution to this problem "sleep of death"
it's caused by setting the wifi to be always active during sleep..
so to solve it, go to: settings--> wifi --> advanced and go to "keep the wifi on during sleep" option --> and choose "only when plugged in" or "never"
because "always" is the cause of the problem
it worked for me and no more automatic restarting

A new type of weird issue about Charging and Micro USB, urgent help needed please

I have H818p on Marshmallow, everything stock. Yesterday i used the phone until battery goes very low i.e, 3 %. After that some strange things happened, at 2 % battery remaining , it stopped calling feature and then turned off. Later i charged it and turned ON again, from that time i am facing these weird issues, details are as :
1. No more connection with Laptop for data , only shows charging, and there are no options to change it.
2. Charging of phone stopped. now nothing happen when connect to charger. Until i reset the phone everytime after connecting charger then it starts charging. But also Only upto the time until charger is connected. If once i remove it, then again needed to reset phone to start charging. It seems phone pick charging only when its Off. also until its connected with charger.
3. very slow charging. whenever charging start, its very very slow. taking 5 hours now on Original charger.
I was a die die hard fan of LG, using from G Pro to G2, G3 and now G4. but these issue really annoying and changing my mind from LG. Please help me to solve this.
I had almost the same problems a month ago and they started from nowhere (slow charging, no connection with PC). I tried cleaning the port that didn't help. As strange as it sound all problems ware gone when i flashed a fresh KDZ with LGUP. At first my PC wasn't detecting the phone in Download mode so i tried like 10/15 times and it installed the drivers eventually. So yeah ... go figure ..... i hope this is helpful
Try replacing stock battery or stock charger/cable or the poster said about flashing fresh kdz via lgup

turn off suddenly ! and don't turn on!

my M5 with android 6 , from 2 days ago suddenly turn off and don't turn on until i plug it to the charger!
i tried to reset and wipe data but the problem is still! after turn on i see time and date is on default and battery log is not exist!
what is the problem ? battery or android ?
software or hardware ? please help me
That's the known battery lock issue. Xperia M5 units manufactured in 2015 came with a faulty battery which causes this issue. Go to the Service Center to get your battery freely replaced if you're under warranty...
