OK so I have a Galaxy Grand Prime (locked to Cricket) that gets 3+ bars LTE at my home. I recently got an AT&T (locked to AT&T) Galaxy S3 (I747) off of eBay to use on Cricket. Since both AT&T and Cricket both use AT&T's LTE network I expected it to work without a problem. However when I put the Cricket SIM in the S3 I can only get 2G EDGE network. I have tried different APNs, network modes, even a couple custom roms. I have no idea what the problem might be.
Any help would be much appreciated
What bootloader and modem are on the phone? Not sure if either of those things will keep you on edge.

Question:
I'm getting mixed reports all over the blogs/forums/irc about the TMobile SGS3 isn't working as what it was first reported it to be.
I haven't seen that yet, or even posted, here on xda...
So, has anyone tried to have a TMo S3 with a AT&T sim? I use both TMo Straight Talk and AT&T Straight Talk, and I travel a lot. I swap sim on my GNex depending on the network and to where i'm at.
S3 is my next new toy, and based on AnandTech.com's reviews of the TMo, he did say it will work on both AT&T's HSPA+ and TMo's HSPA+. I just want to know if this was true in real time users, such as the community.
I just don't want to dip my $600+ on a phone when it might not even work, based on the consensus.
THANKS!!
Why didn't you get the ATT version?
Sent from a 96gb N7000
If I had to GUESS, I'd say NO. I've only seen 1 device that would work on both networks using 4G - but it did require a flash.. It would only do 1 or the other at a time. (NOTE: THIS IS ONLY A GUESS AT THIS STAGE)
I have a GS3 from T-mobile, though I have not unlocked it yet, and I have access to a AT&T Straight talk sim, so I can absolutely test it, when I get unlocked.
You probably just have to SIM unlock the SGS3 and then it will work.
Sent from my phone. Prepare for atrocious Swype typos.
It would work if you unlocked it. How ever they only have 2 of the same frequencies for 3g 850 and 1900. T-Mobile has 1700 and AT&T has 2100. So your service would suffer in certain locations. Galaxy S III for T-Mobile doesn't support LTE so you wouldn't get True 4G coverage.
works fine on my unlocked Tmo GS3 with ATT SIM, HSPA+ all day long, no LTE of course.
I'm reading that the GSM variants have IDENTICAL hardware, meaning if unlocked I can get LTE on a T-Mobile device while on At&T's network.
Can anyone clarify?
I think you can get lte and edge, but no 3g. I think.
not working right now
edge working but in roaming mode
and also no calling
I have a T-Mobile GN2, and have both TMO and AT&T sim cards. Right now when I plug in the AT&T sim card, I get 4G signals.
Since both devices are identical (based on a 3rd party site), can we install the AT&T rom in an unlocked and rooted TMO GN2, and thereby enabling the LTE functionality??
Or will such attempt brick the phone??
What data plan do you have with your ATT sim? You need a LTE sim and an LTE enable data plan with the APN on the phone before even testing to see if LTE works out of the box. Im wondering the same about the status of the LTE radio on the TMO Note 2. Let me know if you find out anything new.
I've exhausted pretty much every forum and can't seem to come upon a straight answer. Hoping someone here can help.
I have a Canadian Note 2, SGH-i317M model. Stock ROM, and unlocked. I am trying to get it to work on the US AT&T LTE frequency. I previously tried to get it to work on T-Mobile following the guide on galaxynote2root.com to unlock the AWS band but I could only still get HSPA+ speeds. Inserting an AT&T sim after this still only gets my the HSPA+ speeds. From what I can gather, the modem should be present in the device but I could be wrong.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for getting my Note 2 to work on AT&T's 4G/LTE bands?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
The modem and bands are correct out of the box for AT&T, but just like with Bell (and Rogers?) you need the LTE provisionning on whatever plan you're using. In the case of AT&T, I recall reading that the IMEI registered to the SIM in question also has to be from an AT&T LTE device. Last but not least I recall reading some MVNOs didn't offer LTE connectivity period.
Hi! I'm using the Verizon Variant of the Moto Z2 Force on Red Pocket Mobile right now. I'm using AT&T towers and everything works great except LTE. I can force it into LTE, but my calls won't work. When it's in LTE/WCDMA mode it falls back on H+ everytime. While H+ isn't slow and has been good to me, i'd still like to get LTE. Can I flash the AT&T stock ROM to my variant with success? Or is there another method of getting my phone to lock onto LTE while still having WCDMA/GSM on standby so I may receive calls also?
I previously had a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus which had the same issue on RPM, it wouldn't lock onto LTE. To fix this issue I flashed the international ROM with odin and it worked great locking onto LTE instead of H+ after flashing the ROM until it took a tumble down my basement stairs. So that's why I thought it may be possible with my Verizon Z2 Force.
Thank you!
We can not cross-flash between variants without unlocking bootloader. ATT and VRZ are both bootloader locked ones. It seems no one had done it before.
Wow, that bums me out to hear that.
Hey, I too am using the VZW version with ATT service, and I know exactly what you mean! Same problem here.
