Hi,
Previous owner has removed IMEI sticker (under the battery) so I don't have SERIAL number. Is there any way to find it inside the phone?
Hi! That's a suspicious thing for them to do. On the current ROM I'm running (Cloudy v2.4) on my VS985 (Verizon LG G3), the IMEI is under Settings / General / About phone / Status, and it's right under my cell phone number. Location might vary slightly under different versions of the stock ROM and I don't recall under non-stock ROMs, I assume it's listed in a similar place on them too.
i know how to find IMEI number, but I can't find SERIAL number

I have nothing marked "Status" under About Device in the settings menu, nor a sticker with the imei number on the back. Can the status setting be deleted in any way? If so, how can I retrieve it? I bought the tablet "new" on-line which it wasn't. Help!
Which model?
I guess V510, since you are asking about IMEI.
V500 does not need IMEI, since it's not GSM device (WiFi only)
I have bought an LG G4 that has some issues. The previous owner took the phone to some unofficial repair centers and now I have difficulty in even identifying the model of the phone. Now:
1. In the Settings, About the phone, Hardware info, the phone's model is listed as LG-H818
2. CPU-Z reports the device as LG G4(LG-H815). The board is msm8992.
3. Likewise, AIDA64 reports the device as LG-H815.
4. When I take the back cover, I see H815 stamped in three places at the top of the device, just above the camera module.
5. When I take the battery out, the sticker says LG-H815 but when I check the IMEI number, it shows up as belonging to LGLS990, which is Sprint LG G3! I have checked via imeidata.net and also LG CSMG Tool. Both give the same result.
6. In fastboot mode, the device shows up as locked. I registered with LG Dev. Found out about the device id and when I try to get the unlock code, it gives me this error: "Device ID is unmatched. Please check your Device ID. Your account will be locked if you enter the wrong Device ID more than 9 times."
What do you think could be going on here? Is this a refurbished device with a phony IMEI number? How can I unlock this device?
Thanks for all your help and advice.
Refurbished probably, send LG support email and they will send you unlock code

Check iemi in about device i believe network area should give the real iemi there. Prob is a refurb. Or in worst case a stolen with modified iemi if the iemi in settings is diffrent check it on swappa if the same like prev poster email lgdev they can update it
Thanks for the replies. I have spoken to an experienced technician today. He said my device was probably put together in China with a motherboard from here and chassis from there etc. So it looks I have been scammed.

I have read a few articles about "knock off g3s and g4s" and thats about what they do id send it back if its an option
Its not the item as described and should be eligable for a return
do you have this phone ?
you can check it by IMEI
I bought an G3 (D851) for the wife. IMEI (from about phone and *#06# are both the same) was clean and phone activated on T-Mobile. Worked for a couple of weeks then quit. IMEI is now blacklisted. Rechecked IMEI and it comes back to a Galaxy Note 3 N9005 that is blacklisted as lost/stolen.
So then I check the tag underneath the battery and it has a different IMEI, one that is registered to a LG G3 (D851) that checks clean.
I did not know you could spoof or change an IMEI. Is there any way to restore the original IMEI so I can use the phone?
I'm not real computer/phone literate but I did do a hard reset to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, there are tools that facilitate changing the IMEI. However, they are not very easy to use for someone who is not an expert. The IMEI can be _restored_ easily in cases where you have a backup of it. There are apps wgich do this, called EFS backup / restore apps. I believe that in order to use them that you have to be rooted.
There's a tool called QPST furnished by Qualcomm that does that sort of thing (allows changes to the IMEI).
In your case, you can look for someone who has professional tools to do it. I sent my VS985 to a guy I found through eBay who charged $37 to restore the IMEI which just came up blank after I flashed CloudyG3 v2.5, which wiped out the IMEI. BTW, don't flash that ROM on any G3 unless you have a backup of the modem (EFS) data.
The guy who did the work for me is in Carrollton TX. If you want to do something like that, PM me. I can look for his contact info.

have an LG G4 H815 I'm facing problem with low level network & loose of LTE so i wanted to unlock my device to gain more solutions but when i put my imei in LG developers site. I got the answer that my device ID don't match the imei so i tried the Imei found in the back label . the same thing i got the same answer. So now im unable to unlock my device
Looks like you are using a refurbished device, go check your hardware IMEI to identity your device, only H811 or H815 gets BL unlocked

Dial *#06# will give you your hardware IMEI, that's the real IMEI.
Open a new tab, copy the link below and paste your IMEI after the “=”
http://www.lgbbs.com/LGB2B/IMEI.php?IMEI=YOUR IMEI
You won't be able to unlock your bootloader unless you have a label under your battery that has same IMEI as what shows by dialing *#06#. This is only done if repaired by LG authorised repairer.
LG will ask for photo proof of the label and even the barcode has to match. Trust me I changed my own motherboard and they don't want to know about it!
Send a mail to lg [email protected] and ask for unlock. like this:
Hello,
I tried to bootloader unlock my LG g4 H815 but i got device ID mismatch using official unlock web site.
The mainboard was replaced in aug. 2016 under warrenty. (LG Germany).
What can i do to unlock the bootloader of this device?
Best regards

Answer by lg:
Hello,
*
We apologize for any inconvenience.
*
it may not match due to the replacement.
*
If so, please send us the following:
- The new Device ID copied from the DOS command window as text.
(You can copy the Device ID with the right button of your mouse.)
- A label photo file (less than 200KB) taken from the back of the phone.
(You can find the label when you remove the battery.)*
** In the photo, the label must be visible on the back of the phone.
*
We are now providing an interim solution for this issue.
Hello,
*
We apologize for the delay and any inconvenience caused.
**last week was the Korean Thanksgiving (Chu-Seok) holiday period.*
*
You can now unlock the bootloader of your phone at Unlock Bootloader page. Please try again.
*
Best Regards,
LG Developer site Team

For me the problem was taht serial number from Lg dev site (they said to find my serial number in about phone ) did not match the back phone label . SO I entered the serial number from the label and worked
I would like support with this issue since after updating the serial number was no longer shown in the settings. I have the EM model, and I already installed android 10 for this model in the hope of recovering the number, but it still does not show
