Hey guys,
I just bought a 2nd hand phone online and the previous owner is not a tech savvy one, he updated the phone's software to 4.4.4 but did not root/unlock bootloader. I currently just managed to unlocked the bootloader, and now im stuck with a phone running 4.4.4 with no root nor recovery. Before you guys advise me to search the forums, i did and the rooting methods are either fixed, requires a bootloader to flash kernels/superuser, or vice versa (requires root to flash recovery)
I have been looking all around the forums to no avail, any help would be appreciate.
Thanks
Since u have a UB try flashing this recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2599619.
You have to flash offical 4.2 rom and root and install recovery than flash a custom or kernel 4.4
Can you not revert to previous stock version then use towel root. When I bought my phone it had ICS 4.2, used towel root then let phone update manually. Root was kept and I now have 4.4.4..

I have the same issue. This is because you have the firmware for other regions. I like taiwan version and I can not find the drain firmware.
Hi everyone,
I just got this device recently and it's running official lollipop, I need a simple way to root it with locked bootloader?
I got the lollipop 14.5.A.0.242 tft file, can I make a pre-rooted lollipop for this region:
Xperia Z1 compact D5503_14.5.A.0.242_R1D_Customized MEA 1279-5365.tft
???
or any detailed simple way to root lollipop? "newbie"
I am stuck here and I want to move my data from another device using Titanium backup, this is way I need the root access...
any help would be appreciated..
thanks in advance..
I unlocked my bootloader(knowing I have TA backup) and used this method to root.
Then I restore my TA partition I backed up when I was still on rooted kitkat.
Working well, rooted and locked bootloader

I searched all the forums but could not find an upgrade procedure for those who want to upgrade 4.4.4 to 5.1 on a GPE rooted tablet with TWRP custom recovery.
Is this possible?
Do I need to go back to stock recovery, unroot, take the OTA and root again?
Thanks for your help. :good:

Yes, you need to unroot to install the update, if you don't you may get a bootloop.
