GPS Location Doesnt work... - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I recently bought an m8 on ebay. I noticed that the gps doesnt lock on even though the location settings are set to high accuracy. As of now there is no service on the phone. When i connect to wifi it gets my location through A-GPS but without wifi it doesnt track my location even with offline maps. I tried calibrating my compass using the 'GPS Status' app, but it doesnt seem to work. Does anyone know if this is a software problem or hardware? can i replace the gps in the phone?
Thanks in advance for your help.

On the GPS Status app, do you see satellites being locked on? On the circular display, you should see dots, and bar graph below will show signal strength. You can typically lock onto several satellites very quickly, unless there is a hardware issue or in a poor location (sky is blocked).

GPS works under certain circumstances

Hi guys. I'm sure this has been asked over and over, but I didn't find something that would be helpful in my case. The problem is simple. GPS won't fix on to my location without a data connection. I have saved a map offline (in Google Maps), and whenever I'm travelling and want to see my location, I turn the GPS on (mobile data and wi-fi is off) and press the location button in Google Maps. In a couple of seconds, I get the message "Your location could not be determined".
Turning on mobile data helps, it locks in about 15-20 seconds. But switching from Google Maps to some other app and back causes it to forget the lock and it has to search for my location again. Once again, it takes around 20 seconds.
On Wi-Fi (and no mobile data turned on), although it shows 'Searching for GPS' in the notification bar and the GPS icon shows that it isn't locked, it estimates my location correctly.
I've tried running GPS Status, downloaded AGPS data using the app, still no use (I expected this to work, since i guess the problem is about obtaining AGPS data, that is why it locks quickly when either mobile data or wifi is on). I don't get a lock while running GPS Status, nor do I see any satellites in the app, regardless of whether Wi-Fi or mobile data is on or off.
In short, I just want to be able to use GPS in Google Maps without anything else- without Mobile Data, without Wi-Fi
Hope that's clear. Thanks in advance

What baseband are you running? You might wanna try FH05.
I also have this problem, use u-center which will get a GPS lock then open maps, you should get a GPS lock within seconds, not sure if the baseband version will make a difference.

[Q] Location Settings from network

Hello, i am using the Sprint LG G3 and have an issue with my location services.
Setting are set to High Accuracy:Network,Wifi and gps.
However, in some areas my location is off by 10miles or more.
I used the Sprint Zone diagnostics tool and it shows my network location accurate to within 95000 ft and GPS accurate to within 65ft.
Changing network from LTE to CDMA did not help, but changing location settings to Device sensors only (GPS) fixes it (however i cannot use Google Now with only GPS enabled.)
It seems my phone is only using the network location even though GPS is more accurate, shouldnt the phone use the most accurate reading if it is set to use all 3 types of location settings?
This occurs in the stock weather app, Google+, Google Maps etc...
Any advice?
I can say I have similar issue instead of GPS not working the location service through 4G service seems not working since v10l firmware, for 3G seems working intermittently, even now I am using v20a it is still acting like on v10n

Poor GPS Reception

My dad's SGT 3 7.0 WiFi version has really bad GPS Reception, I've installed Sygic and selected the connect only to GPS Satellites Option in the Location Settings Menu. Sometimes it gets a GPS lock in a few minutes other times it doesn't connect at all. Does anybody know what the problem is?

Battery saving location mode cannot detect a location

As I understand it, after switching to "Battery saving" location mode, my phone should still be able to detect a location based on nearby wifi routers, bluetooth, etc.
If I close all apps, then switch to Battery Saving location, then open google maps, I do not get a location even if I am at home in my flat and have a strong connection to my router. This also happens at work, when connected to wifi routers on the tube (live in London), and so forth.
So I can only conclude that for some reason my phone cannot use this method to determine a location. My GPS does work as well as can be expected, therefore I am not certain when this issue started happening, as, in most buildings, I can get intermittent GPS signal, and have pretty much always just left my phone on "High Accuracy".
However, in some buildings of course, I just cannot get a GPS signal at all, so this issue is getting really frustrating. Before I try some sort of factory reset, is this a known issue at all? Or can anyone suggest anything less drastic to try? Or a potential workaround?
Specs:
- OnePlus 3 (A3003)
- Android 8.0.0
- OxygenOS 5.0.1
Thanks in advance!
Try this, go into settings, tap on WiFi, tap on Wi-Fi preferences, there enable Scanning always available, let us know if that helped!

Problems with GPS signal loss

Good afternoon.
Guys, I've been very angry with Google Maps.
When using turn-by-turn navigation, inside the urban perimeter works fine, but when I move to the rural area I have constant problems of "GPS signal loss".
I noticed that by losing the data signal (4G / 3G), Maps stops navigating. Do you have any way around it? Having a GPS dependent data signal is very infeasible.
Thank you.
Have you tried putting the location mode to "High Precision" or "Device only" in the location settings pane? Sounds like you're not using GPS, but cellular location....
I have already tried both modes and in both the problem is the same.
This problem comes from the time I had a Nexus 5, at the time thought was problem in his hardware, but start to be a bug of the Android itself.
Did you install the app GPS status? If not, please do. It will show an overview of your GPS receiving, and download the latest A-GPS library's.
However put the setting of location on Device only. That's important, it will use the internal receiver instead of network masts.
