Prior to getting my G4, I was using a Samsung GS4. With the GS4, you could add trusted contacts to an "ICE" group (ICE= In Case of Emergency) and they would show up in the emergency dialer even when the phone was locked.
Is there an easy way to do this with the LG G4? I have done some research, but every supposed solution seems to involve changing the stock lock screen.
Is this not not possible with Lollipop on the G4?
Thanks,

It's built into the phone already at least on my Verizon LG G4.
If you go display in settings click on 'Contact info for lost phone'
Once you have put in the alternate phone number it will show up under your carrier name on the Lock Screen.
Definitely worth it just in case someone decides to return your lost device.

I think you're confusing "lost phone" with "emergency contact." I'm aware of the "lost phone information" feature. I already have that configured with my name and email address. If I lose my phone and it's found by an honest person, they can email me to coordinate returning it to me.
What I'm referring to is the ability to have emergency contacts in the lock screen dialer in the event of an emergency where I'm seriously injured, unconscious, or dead. With the Samsung GS4, it was easy: just add the contacts to an "ICE" group, and they appeared on the emergency dialer screen. I am looking for similar functionality for the LG G4.
Here's what I'm referring to: http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/50573/ice-emergency-contacts-on-emergency-dialer-screen

Gotcha, for that I wouldn't have an idea sorry

Hi, click the Emergency Call button on the lock screen. If you have added contacts to the ICE- Emergency Contacts group, they will show up there, along with the Emergency Dialer button.
Hi m0j0 ,
Do you found the solution for this problem. I also use LG G4 but can't find any where to add contact to ICE.
About the solution by changing the stock lock screen, can you show me a guide for that solution.
Thanks.

Just got my lg g3 yesterday and having issues getting this to work. Coming from and old htc it was easy as going into the contact and hitting block.
I have figured out how to block calls from this number but blocking texts i cannot do. I have found how to block through both the call app and the call log by holding down kn the number. When i do this on a text in the message app the only thing that pops up is the contact and the delete option.
Please help me find spam directory you are mentioning. I have the lg g3 from sprint runing 4.4.2 .
Thanks
Does this work from any screen other than call logs? I'd like to block some numbers on my old spam list _before_ they call me for the first time on this phone.

There are call blocking apps, and an Xposed module which allow you to block SMS, if you are rooted.

I would rather not root my phone just yet. I may go in and look at the htc m8 and see if they offer this feature still.
When in call logs hold the number and u will get options, choose reject call..
Call Filter doesn't require root. I have used it for over a year on multiple phones blocks calls and I believe texts but I don't need to block texts so haven't tried.

Go into the dialer hit the menu key and there will be a call reject tab. You can do it from there.
not working for me
I used to be able to long press on a number from my recent call list and add it to a reject call list (this was on my Samsung Galaxy S3) .... on my LG G3 I don't get that option ... only "view", "edit" "copy" "clear" and "clear logs". What am I doing wrong?
Hello,
I am a recent owner of the LG G3 and I have already had some annoyances with this phone. Most of them are not big enough to take the pleasure out of using it, but one of them is getting in my normal day-to-day operations which are the basic for any phone - CALLING.
Coming from HTC, I am quite used to their Dialer app and I have a problem with LG's version. I am not sure if it is a problem on all devices or it is just mine, or is it an option that I have not changed, but if anyone knows how to go around this - please help.
I am major user of Smart Dialing and right now when I start dialing in the name of the contact it appears on top. The problem is that if that Contact has several numbers, the first number that appears is NOT the DEFAULT one selected in his profile. This makes calling a contact quite a long process...first searching, then going through the results, then sellecting it, then hitting the button to call. It looks like when you are Smart Dialing the UI is sorting contacts by frequency of contact (I have selected that option), but the numbers themselves are sorted also according to the digits and not according to which one is default and which one is not.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

You seem to be right, even if you select a preferred number in contacts it doesn't carry through. If it really annoys you then I guess you can try a different dialer app. It is a bit sloppy by LG though.

Good to know that I am not the only one experiencing this issue!
I will probably install a custom Dialer app, but I hope LG comes up with an update for that because their Dialer otherwise is nice.

I'm sorry I have to start this thread. I am new at all of this and new to the forum, so I am not allowed to post it in the thread for Skydragon... so, here we go.
I flashed skydragon on my T-mobile Lg G3... i LOVE IT.
Somehow I have google now launcher as an option, I use it on my nexus 5 and really loved the phone call feature where when you search for a location, it gives me the phone number. I thought I would use it but the phone call feature isn't there. It uses the LG phone / calling method.
I tried to uninstall google now launcher to reinstall it to see if it would work. I can't delete.
any ideas for how to get this feature on my phone?
Thanks in advance!
Im not sure what you mean by lg calling feature. When i search for a business it will give the option to call, directions or website. And when i click call it takes me to the dialer and i have to press the call button. What did your nexus 5 do?

Sorry,
I was talking about the google launcher... specifically i was looking for this http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-g3/themes-apps/google-dialer-t2824937
I tried this and it worked!!!!! SO SWEET!!!!!!
BTW, what it does is straight from the dialer. I can hit the phone button and enter a contact or a business and get the number for the contact or local places... straight from the dialer, not from a google now search. it seems pretty nominal but if you have it it's pretty awesome.
Ohhhhh ive never seen that, pretty cool
So I used to have an LG G3 on Verizon and you could do anything during a call. You could browse the web, open your calendar, etc., all while in a call.
I just realized on this current LG G3 I have on T-Mobile, I can't do anything. The buttons at the bottom are grayed out and disabled, and the notification bar is even disabled. It won't let me leave the phone app until the call is finished.
Is this normal behavior? Is this a carrier limitation? Rom issue? Is there a workaround? I find this pretty absurd. I'm used to looking in my calendar while talking to people, and I can't do this anymore.
I'm running Android 6.0 rooted stock Rom.
Well, can anyone at least confirm that this is how their T-mobile LG G3 behaves, or is my phone misbehaving?
I'm going to post the only solution I found for this. Installing other dialer apps did nothing, as they launch the stock dialer when actually dialing. Installing Google's dialer app and making it default was the only option that worked. It seems to be coded into the stock dialer to disable the home buttons and notification bar. Here is a link to instructions and download for the Google dialer app. It's not available on the play store for this phone model, but it does work.

Are you sure the phone wasn't locked when you answered the call?
I just got the OTA Pie update the other day for the LG G7 ThinQ (I'm on Google Fi), and now I notice that my emergency info button on the lock screen is gone. I can't seem to find a way to get it back. I want to put emergency contact info and medical info that is available even if my phone is locked. Some sites say to look under "about phone", but there is no emergency info tab there. Other sites say to go to the "User" tab, but I don't have one even under "Accounts".
Does anyone know how to put emergency contact info on the lock screen after the Pie update (other than the 50 character "contact info for lost phone" field)?
I thought that adding emergency contact info to the lock screen was a standard Android function. Has LG disabled it?
