Anyone else notice the new Gmail update? It is not notified as an update but is now a downloadable app from the market that supports priority mail etc. The app replaces / updates the internal Gmail. Apparently they have released it as an app so it will be easier to update without the need for system updates.
Unfortunately, Froyo-only.

hahah hopefully end of september early ocotober....
Can someone post the apk file? I have Froyo JPH Firmware and i think it should work there, but unfortunately it's not available in the market here in germany yet.
Edit: It's already available here
Check out the manual posted on WPCentral. I did it myself, and can confirm that it works.
Yay for another duplicate thread...
BTW, I did it and my phone has been frozen for almost 30 minutes. Use at you own risk.

Just as always, sure. Worked great for me though.
And duplicate? Sorry, but I checked if there's another thread about this very topic and I didn't see any. My bad I didn't check every single thread about Mango if it contains a post about how to get the update without waiting.
Thanks! finally got my update that way
Come on, gang, you all can't be that impatient
The best thing to do is wait patiently and allow the system to do what it needs to do. If anyone doesn't get the update today or tomorrow, MS has said it can take up to 2 months for everyone to get it.
Be patient and don't screw up your phones.
If tricking zune allows you to update, then statistically there is no reason one person should get the mangos before anyone else. obviously there isn't a server issue if we can download it this way just fine... I'm sorry I've been waiting far too long. I didn't even do it for the post nodo update that 1.3 never got for what ever reason

Because that is mango.
If it is the RTM, forcing may not work to notice that.

7.1 isnt 7.5
do i need to downgrade in order to get the update?
T-Mobile HD7, performing forced update now. 7403 went through perfectly & still Dev. Unlocked. Now doing Mango...
NOTE: Took a couple tries to get the notification.

It's 7.10, not 7.1, and that is the actual version number. 7.5 is the marketing name for the release.
I've tried over 50 times and all I get is this error : Can't check for updates right now. Please try again later. 80072EFF

Guy, its 7.10.
not 7.1.
7.10.7720.68 is mango....
its code name is 7.5, its not literally...

Did you install the RTM? if so then you might not have the phone specific optimized or whatever release, but you do indeed have mango.

so anyone that already flashed the touchit mango rom has no need to bother with this official update, correct?
How long are you guys waiting before you pull the plug? When Im doing it, I'm pulling it immediately. If I don't zune tells me my phone is up to date within 3 seconds

I have no idea, but I doubt that. I was referring to the official update, which contains build 7.10.7720.68. If you are using a custom ROM, it may or may not contain all of the final Mango features.
Rooted, Stock, LG8
Started getting OTA notifications this morning. Rebooted into recovery and the notifications went away. Still on LG8. Am I missing anything substantial on LI3? Should I just wait for the official JB update? Thanks in advance.
Official JB release has yet to be officially announced with a date. So, I suggest you go ahead and update. At least you'll stop getting the notifications if you do.

Thanks for the reply, Naddict. Couple of questions:
-In order to update to LI3, is it as simple as going through the "System Update" utility in the settings?
-Is it safe to assume that once I update to LI3, I'll lose root?
-If so, how do I go about gaining root again? (It's been a while since I first rooted, so I'm unsure of the methods.)

yes you must be stock and have stock revocery and it will update no problem and yes you will lose root unless you use app like ota rootkeeper or just re root like you did the first time look at qbking77 video

Your thread is relevant to my question, so I'm hoping someone can help me, as well.
I'm new to android, and I've found that every time there is an OTA update, I cannot find ANY information on it. I received a notification to update today, as well, yet it doesn't tell me what changes will be made or what is being updated. Is this normal for android? I'm not exactly sure where to look for this information, since hitting "more info" tells me nothing.
Not trying to invade on your post, but I'm thinking you might know the answer to this.
Thanks!

OTA's are manufacturer specific. Sprint does provide information as to what the updates do for you. Just use the Internet machine and go to Sprint's website...

Hi Naddict. Thanks for humoring my "Hi. I'm super new and have stupid questions" status.
My "internet machine" (awesome) must be limited to banning all updated information. On the sprint blog for S3 updates the latest one is from 9/19 and I don't see any relevant information regarding an update from today. That's where my confusion lies.
My main issue is that I don't even know what to search for, as I don't receive any information regarding the update number/title/etc.
A popup just asking me to install a "system update" doesn't really do much for me. I'll keep looking. :good:
Take care,
Mike

Thank you very much. I saw the Samsung Galaxy SIII Software Updates post on the Sprint website but it shows a release date of 9/19, which was causing my confusion. I was looking for something from today specifically since this is the first time I had an update popup.
Have a good one.

No worries! I didn't take it as an insult. It's good to have people that joke around Nice to meet ya.
Well now I'm just lost.
I used Mobile ODIN to flash a stock recovery, then I tried to flash an LG8-L13 .zip I found on another forum. I got an installation error. I went back to CWM and tried the flash the update, same error. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Is there a file, or at least a link to an update .zip that works in CWM?
Edit: Just found and flashed two files through CWM. So far so good.
Here's the Link for the update:
http://www.mediafire.com/?kdm84fj9no6k3la
Here's the Link for the modem:
http://www.mediafire.com/?07mmmz6vxwpmvk4
I'm not sure why they're separate, but it's working for me.

AT&T released update DOI9 today. The posted marshmellow beta only works for DOI7. Anyone know how to make it work on todays update?
how did you know there's DO19 released today?

It is a joke. You may have heard of them.
See, I was disappointed that there was a security update, first because it wasn't MM, and second because it probably meant that there would be a longer delay for MM to be release.
Hey everyone!
I sideloaded the 8.1 update from Google and I don't see HDCalling available for it. I'm a user on AT&T with an unlocked phone. Can anyone help with this? Was I not suppose to sideload it to get the feature?
Thank you!

AT&T customers have suppose to have access to HDCalling on 8.1.0 update.

Other news sources listed this as well.

Forgot to update on this. I only had to clear cache and restart after the 8.1 update for this to work. However, for those who don't have this option still, this means that AT&T doesn't have your pixel as your main device. Just call and switch it over by giving them you IMEI number, then restart your phone and it will work.
Cheers, and thanks!
Odd things could prevent this from operating. I wasn't getting it but found out it was because I had 'Smart Limits' turned on. They had to remove that, and you also need to make sure you don't have 'basic' voicemail.. Those are 2 things I know for a fact that will keep VoLTE from working. But now that they cleared Smart Limits, I have VoLTE everywhere! Good luck!
