Desire camera gives "cloudy" pictures

I've found that my Desire camera photos always appear hazy, or to have a sort of "halo" around them when they're taken - certainly not nearly as sharp as they should be for a 5MP camera.
Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution?
It's because the lens cover in the back case is not very good and is distorting the view.
If you take the back off the phone and take a few shots, you will see they are much clearer.
There's actually a thread about this:

I pierced my lense cover out of the back cover as it seems many others have done and now get amazing images. Obviously not everyone would like to do that so you can always try and clean the lense on the back cover with a cotton bud and lense cleaning solution Seems like a design fault as that plastic lense cover gets filthy very quickly and ruins images.
Yeah after watching that video I tried taking a picture with the battery cover off and the clarity was brilliant!
Have you noticed any dust, etc. problems with the lens cover off?
had my lens cover off for 6 months or so, need to take the cover off to wipe off the dust occasionally but no scratches - seems the glass on the sensor is much harder than that on the cover.
best thing i ever did, just pressed out of battery cover in 2 seconds.

Obviously dust gets there, but it can be easily sorted out with a good blow and a bit of cloth.
I pierced mine out too an replaced it with a saphire glass which is really hard and resistant. No scratches until now (5 months) and the camera pics are like the ones you take with the cover off.
The only disadvantage is that you have to order it in the United Kingdom and pay for the shipping.
I found one also on Amazon, otherwise search on Google for Edmund Optics, they sell them.

Scratch on Camera Lens

Evidently our camera lenses aren't made from Gorilla glass also. Today I encountered 2 small scratches across the lens of the rear facing camera while cleaning it with the soft side of my T-shirt. I usually use a micro fiber cloth but have used my T-shirt on all my other phones all the time. This is very disappointing to me, has anybody else experienced this yet?
I have the same problem. There's a couple light scratches on the camera lens. I don't think the lens has gorilla glass unlike the front and back.

but no difference in camera result
mine has got scratches too.but when i compared camera result of mine optimus g to a brand new one there was no difference...
My phone has been in a case since day one, and I found a light small scratch on it.
I think most LGOG come with a small scratch we can't see with the naked eye, I've never touched the lens once.
Could be dust or scratch inside the lens.

Anyone else's front facing camera scratch easily??

I noticed a smudge of something on my front facing camera (probably a drop of Dr. Pepper from when my son had one blow up on him earlier that day), so I tried wiping it off with my shirt, but it needed just a little more "umph" to get it off..... So I used my fingernail, which I've done hundreds of times on the back camera, but now there's now about a dozen scratches on the front lens. I've tried cleaning it with a Q-Tip and alcohol, but they are still there.
I can't imaging my fingernail actually scratching this up..... Could there be a coating or something that I've actually scratched up that can be buffed out? My screen is polarized, maybe that extended up over the lens?
Anyone else notice their front camera is easily scratched up?

My boyfriends scratched his up and there was like a film layer that he was able to take off and it gives him clear picture shots now.

Thank you, that's what I was hoping to hear
Yea same here, I ended up putting brake kleen on a qtip and now it's clear again.

Toothpaste on a Q-tip, then nail polish remover with the other end of the Q-tip. Rub in small circles until you start seeing the black film coming off.

Scratches after removing film on camera lens?

I have successfully removed the film that gets scratched on the camera lens but I noticed my lens still has a lot of hairline scratches that don't seem to affect the picture quality like before. Is this normal?? Or are they remnants of the film that I have not properly removed?
Can anyone confirm that their lens have hairline scratches as well after removing the film?

What did you do? which film did you remove.. on the inside or is it on the outside.. I got suddenly scratches on the camera lens, but don't know where it came from... same what you are saying: due to the film on the lens?
Just wiped it off with polish. Scratches on the outside.

Ah allright. I got the problem that my camera and dual camera got blurred by unknown scratch-like things, but suddenly, afer a few weeks, they dissapeared. You know maybe what it is? I searched, and many thought it is due to damp or moisture, but I never use it in moisture environments.
Maybe someone else know this problem?

[Q] LG G3 Laser auto focus scratches

It's been a month since I bought the LG G3, and I have been using it with the LG quick circle case. While cleaning my phone today I noticed some micro scratches on the laser auto focus which are visible at a certain an angle. Although this has no effect on the auto-focusing speed, but I am worried that this might cause a problem later on, as those scratches might cause laser distortion.
Are there any ways to remove those scratches( I have tried cleaning it alcohol, but they are still there)?

You can use plastic polish to remove fine scratches. Take the back cover off. Use blue painters tape to tape around the laser lens. Apply plastic polish with cloth. Let it haze over. Buff lens with clean cloth or micro fiber cloth.
Same principle as restoring plastic automotive headlights or acrylic fish tanks.
Isn't there some kind of a protective coating over the lens?

The camera lens might have a protective coating, but I don't think that the laser auto-focus has the same coating, If there were a protective coating it would've been gone by rubbing alcohol.

Actually, the camera lens is made of glass ( not gorilla glass). It can crack, as some users have experienced already. If the laser lens has any protective coating at all, it would not have scuffed so easily. I use a Spigen Slim Armor case on my G3 which protects the camera, laser and flash lenses from scratches when putting the phone on its back. I use a Tech Armor ballistic glass screen protector but that may be OT since the screen is gorilla glass.
