Hi guys. I received my kindle fire HD 8.9 one day back.
I want to watch 1080p Videos on YouTube. But, couple of applications I downloaded from kindle store are having options upto only 720p.
Why is it so?
How can I watch 1080p?
If I need YouTube player and root, kindly tell me the easiest procedure that serves my purpose.
Thanks a lot.

What's up with Netflix on the FTV? I can't select genres, new releases, etc. Did Amazon put a dumbed-down version on FTV to drive users to Prime? Is there any way to put a different version of Netflix on FTV?

You can sideload the standard app from the play store.. but imho the one inluded is superior in that it delivers HD video (i have even got some 1080p movies recently) and DD5.1 sound which no other android app does.

Exactly.. It does full hd videos at 5800kbps & 5.1 sound. Other android Netflix apps won't be able to do it (not to my knowledge at least). Also, its the same version which goes on other media players & blu-ray players.
I personally like Roku 3 Netflix interface better, looks very polished IMHO but it lacks few features which this one has like Play from beginning
The app on FTV is the same interface as on my Sony Bravia TV.

Does Netflix stream in HD on the Fire HD and HDX?
The version on my Kindle Fires have genres listed in a menu, so I guess I'll just have to navigate with my HDX first.
The Netflix interface on my Vizio TV has a menu listing my queue, New Releases, Newly Added, Genres and Search.
Hello
I got the Kodi 14 RC1 install on my Fire Stick. It works really well despite one problem, blurriness despite at high resolution like 1080p. For example, if I watch a twitch stream through XBMC or Twitch app itself, the picture looks like it runs on 360/480 despite I select 1080p. I read in some of posts that this seems to be some software codec issues since for certain video files it runs fine without the blurriness issue. Also, Netflix is not working, it will starts to play then stop. I wonder if Amazon is aware of this and they are going to fix it soon.
On another note, my FireStick is running the original firmware (54.1.0.0_user_100211520). They have and updated version of the software, version 54.1.0.1_user_101016220. I want to know if anybody is running this newer version. Is the newer version fix the blurriness issue and Netflix? If yes, then I will upgrade it to the newer version since it is annoying since I can't read any small text at higher resolution because it is too blurry.
Thanks for your help.
Just got my stick yesterday and I allowed the system update. I can confirm Netflix works without issue. I'm also running TVMC which is based on XBMC Gotham 13.2, this also runs great, crisp picture on 1080p movies. Maybe the newer codecs in Kodi 14 not optimized for FireTV stick?

Hello,
Thanks for the info. I just did an upgrade to the newer version and you are right. Netflix runs great on it. However, Kodi 14.0 RC1 still has the same blurrines. I guess I will just wait till the official 14.0 is released. Thanks for replying.
Yup, same here, Kodi UI is crisp but videos are blurry. . I hope this gets ironed out.

I concur. I'm having the same issue on my FireTV Stick. I'm running it on a 720p display. I will also try it on a 1080p display and see if it's any better.
I have tried both XBMC 13.2 and SPMC (13.3 I think) and they are both not as sharp as the native FireTV Stick apps even though I'm playing Blu-Ray rips through XBMC.
Was having the same issue with my stick and gave up and sold it, hopefully someone can find a fix and I'd buy it again, great value
Blurry Firestick with Green line aross the bottom and doubled focus

I know most phones with the same processor is capable of 4k video recording............and wondering if there is any way currently to do this. Like a rom or mod or app?
Or must owners wait for maybe actual lollipop based rom?
Thanks
No, the Fire Phone isn't capable of that.

I came across a youtube video which showed pretty much everything available to watch on the 4k fire tv stick.
Can't type the video because I don't have enough posts but you can search it on youtube by typing in: "Flossy Carter Amazon 4K Fire TV Stick". Flossy Carter is just reviewing the product from the guys that sell it.
I just wanted to get the firestick 4k to watch all of the fresh prince shows. If you watch the youtube video to the end, he shows some app called cyberflix tv or something like that and you can watch any show on there.
Does this mean this device is rooted? The company that sells these is called affordablesticks/fsusa and they sell them preloaded with all of these apps. Just wanted to get some info on if this can be done on my firestick 4k as well.

I really like the Live TV guide on my Fire TV, now that it integrates YouTube TV. How do I keep it as my guide, after I pick a show to watch? Once I start watching something, and hit the back button to get to the guide, it goes back to the YouTube TV app guide.
