Can anyone recomend a replacement for the standard stero handsfree kit that comes with the MDA Pro.
I've seen these http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/10098.htm, but was wondering if anyone knew of any better ones?
I'm also looking for such a headset. The one on your links looks nice, but is there a volume control on it? I can't see that.
The one in mobilefun.co.uk is just the same as the one came from the box.
There is no other alternative so far I could find....

Yeah, the headset fits without any problem.
That is the same as the HP Ipaq 54xx/55xx/63xx/65xx, Toshiba e75x/80x.
Although its a bit expensive, USD33 including postage....

Just out of curiousity, what happened to your hands free kit that came with the unit, guys?
The original one comes with the package is excellent except that it is too lengthy and the pair of earphones always messes with others.
I would like to have a single lead earphone that I can change to stereo when I want.
So, the one that I just got is perfect but it is quite easily to be damage....

I have one of this headset that I bought few years ago for my XDA/Wallaby (with the 2.5mm plug). Yes, its very easy to be damaged (very delicate) but yet mine is still functional until now. Some part of the wire is already torn and I have to put some tape on it.
I use it mainly to connect my XDA/Wallaby to my car stereo system.
Thanks that you share this info, now I know that there is a suitable version for the Universal as well.
Do you mind to confirm back that the headset indeed works perfectly with the Universal:
1. The call answer button
2. The microphone
3. Volume control
4. The stereo jack

I sticked my old one (for the XDA) in my car dashboard near the stereo system. So when the phone rings, I just press it once and the call then will be in the car speakers. The microphone is not that great, ppl usually complaint me that my voice is so low, but guess what, they indeed can hear me.

This is exactly what I'm trying to set up in my car,how do I do it? I tried using a splitter (one 3.5 mm male plug with two female 3.5mm openings) and running one end to my car stereo, and the audio from the call comes through the car speakers nicely but I can't use either the mic from the included (in the box) headset for voice nor will the device's mic work...
I was thinking about buying one of these.
Does anyone else have one? Are they an good?
I have just a basic usb to 3.5 headphone adapter, and I use iPod headphones.

If HTC shipped a bluetooth adapter like this, I wouldn't complain about the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack
Or you could just get stereo BT headphones and forget the wires and adapters!

No stereo bluetooth headphones can compare to my Shure earbuds.
Plus I think that most stereo bluetooth headphones are clunky.

I got one from ebay as well. I paid less than that, but it's still the same. They all are manufactured in China. I use mine everyday. Good sound quality, works right out of the box. I haven't really had any problems.
I only have two complaints. 1. You cant use them while charging, as the charger shown in the third picture is plugged into the headphone port. Strange, yes but it works. That is not really that much a problem, because it has great battery life! 2. No matter what I do, I cannot connect it to my computer to stream music from my computer to the A2d2p adapter. (or whatever it's called, lol) If you come up with a solution after you get yours, please post, or email me.
For me, price was an issue. I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money to listen to music from my phone, but I wanted good sound quality. Regular Bluetooth Stereo Headphones are expensive. For me, this was the way to go. I bought this and a pair of Sony wrap around headphones, and I am rockin'. I think you will be pleased.

It's a Sony Ericsson DS-200 which I bought last year specifically so I could plug some decent headphones in!
I think it was fairly expensive - about £50 when I bought it, but it has worked great with anything that I've wanted to pair with it, including my Excalibur.
But it's far better than using a wired headset with a 3.5 jack in my opinion, because if you use "proper" earphones that come with a long-ish cord then combine that with the long-ish cord from the wired headset then it makes for some nightmareish tangles! Using A2DP seems like freedom in comparison!

Lol about the longish cord, gave up on wired headsets as the ammont of times i'd rip the cord when cycling, i'm using STAK semi enclosed cans made for 3 network they were cheap bout £30 and give loud playback with comfortability and like post above a2dp makes listening to music far more enjoyable skippin tracks in an instant answering calls in an instant...

I'm using Sennheiser CX300, not audiophile grade by any means but certainly better than bundled headphones or stuff like that, they're great.
I love impressing people on the bus by hiding the A2DP receiver in a pocket and then watching a movie or something on my phone, I've had a few people who were watching over my shoulder anyway ask me how I was listening to the sound! Hehe

Would any of you recommend something else? I live in Hong Kong which is fairly noisy, so something that has good volume would be great.

I haven't got a Note yet, but I use the Sony MW600 bluetooth headset with my HD2. And I'd be lost without it - best thing I've bought!
No problems syncing to the device, it has remote control (pause, next/previous), hands free talk as it has built in mic, and comes with in ear buds, which are very good indeed. They block out quite a bit of external noise too, but you can plug in any headset you want to it if you want to go to higher spec headphones. Battery lasts about 10 hours continuous use, and it will re-charge of your Note's charger.
I'm not an audiophile, but I do like music. And it does me fine.

Edit - Just had a look at the Marshalls, and these would offer a tighter fit in the ear then the Marshalls, so would block out more external noise. I wear mine in work, even if i'm not listening to music. I work in the print industry with loud machinery, and they are better than the ear plugs we get given, which reduce external noise by 27 dB. If I'm listening to music in work while my machines are running, and you want to chat - then you ain't gonna get through unless you're in my face!

That's a pretty sweet headset. How much does it stick out after you put it on? Does it get loose easily? I used to own a pair of the Sony is800 headset and it would fall out easily. I was wondering if this is the same.

My previous headset was the Sony Ericsson HBH-IS800
Compared to the Sonys:
- They seem to fit better in my ear (they come with 3 different bud sizes)
- The earbuds are slightly larger and so I guess they do stick out a little more, though I haven't noticed any issue with it
- An extra 2 hours of call/music time
- Have FF/RW controls as well as volume adjust (The Sony's only have Play/Pause/Answer)
- I haven't had any issues with people hearing me or me hearing other people when using them, but I've yet to test them somewhere really noisy
- They come in Red (if that's your thing)

I was thinking about this but didnt bother getting one once i saw the Note, not as big as the press would have u believe!
I was considering the NOKIA J - i has a small clipable dock so i wouldnt have to have it in the ear all the time...

There is one by Sony that I love the way it fits. They don't make it any more and every now and then I find one on eBay ..
I have the Sennheiser bluetooth headset. If you look hard you can find one new on eBay most of the time for about $60 .. I like that one a lot because I have small ear holes and those go on the outside of your ear ..
I also have 2 Bang & Olafsen bluetooth headsets .. One left ear which I am keeping and the other right ear which I am gonna sell when I find it .. I also have the wired Bang & Olafsen head set. I read that it has a teeny tiny microphone somewhere .. I don't know if that is my model .. use it for listening to music ..
I actually have a box of discarded bluetooth headsets. I should put them all together in one lot and sell them. Maybe I will do that today. Don't know if I can find all the chargers though .. They are all discarded because I find them uncomfortable to wear.
For music or movies I use the Sennheiser M400s which have a nice balanced sound and good battery life. For calls, it's hard to go past the Plantronics Discovery 975 - small and sleek, super comfortable to wear, and really good battery life (especially with the included charging case).......
I can't wear anything that doesn't go around the ear. And if it goes in the ear, ugh. After a half hour I have to take it out because it gets painful. Maybe if I had bigger ears .. or Man Ears .. it wouldn't be so bad. They are doing hearing aid implants now, maybe they could do a little bluetooth implant ??

the quality while talking is not the best but its enough for me.
Despite the positive comments about the quality of just listening to music, i can hear some "scratches" when a song gets "heavier". This is my first BT Headset so maybe its normal for BT headsets, or i just overlooked a setting i have to change in the Software.. Hint, anyone?

Do you have a budget in mind? I think we can offer better suggestions if you give us a budget range.
I use Sennheiser IE8 connected to a Sony/Ericsson Bluetooth receiver on the go, and a small digital analog converter/amplifier by NuFore together with the headphones when working.

Hi, thanks for replying. I do not have a budget in mind, my usual principle is to pay what's worth its salt.
So far, everyone's recommended bluetooth wireless headsets, I'm not a big fan of charging stuff, having need to recharge my phone nightly already. But if there are no better wired devices out there, I might as well get Bluetooth because call quality is more important to me than music quality which my Marshall Minor does just fine.
I'm looking for a $100 max wired in-hear headset with mike and very complete remote too. It seems Android is not very friendly with those at all, so I'm thinking I'll have to go Bluetooth. What I found:

When i plug my bose IE2 directly to the phone, all sounds great, but when i plug mi headphones to the adapter the sound is very very bad, only recover the true sound if i press the central button, and i just keep pressing the button to get the correct sound quality.

Yes, but even without the Bluetooth support would be great to use custom headphones without losing the mic and the button.
I had one from "mobilnet" (very cheap) that worked (until I screwed cable after connector) ... iphone have switched last two pins (tip/ring/RING/SLEVE) - in original its left/right/mic/ground and in iphone its left/right/ground/mic so you get signal that go throught mic (I think - you can try to say something and it should change volume) ... if you short circuit with button it will play good ... open adapter and change last two cables (colors cant be for sure ) ... one should be connected to mic+r+l and one only to mic ... change them

The low quality of the DX products is just that, low quality. You can get such an adapter for the iPhone from more reputable brands, and while the volume buttons on a tri-button setup won't work, the middle one should. Alternatively you can make your own adapter by soldering a jack in place of the plugs on the mic/button cable you have. OR you can do what I used to do back in the iPhone 3GS days and open the Bose headphones and solder a new cable with mic directly to the speakers. If the IE2 are anything like the Bose IEMs I've done this to, it's not a hard thing to do.
Alternatively, there are Bluetooth adapters out there. The Jabra Clipper and the Nokia BH111 are two of the most interesting looking ones out there right now IMHO

edit: I was right - mic and gnd are changed ... your ground goes throught mic and so it have low power (cause mic works that way) ... if you press button you short mic and ground so it will work like intended

you mean like the samsung hs3000? the official bluetooth stereo headset has support for custom 3.5mm headphones, an integrated microphone, play, skip forward, backward buttons, volume control, ptt, equalizer and a clip to attach it to your clothes. it has everything you guys want and has been available all along.
I was looking for something like this too, the only options I could find were really cheap ones for a couple of $ or ones over £15 with crappy reviews.
In the end I found this and bought it because it was a decent price and the same brand as my earphones (jays)
It comes with a single earphone you can plug into it, or you can use any other earphone.
I also installed the JAYS headset control app from the play store and you can customise the controls from there.
If I understand what you are actually looking for...it's the HTC HS U350 headset. You can use plug in your own earphones to it, and has a functional control button (one). Works well with the SGS2 and pretty cheap.

how is build quality though?
ive used the griffin one called ''smart talk'' but that lasts about 1-2 months everytime and costs about £15
ive tried the cheap chinese ones but the microphone quality is abysmal even if they do only cost £3
ive tried a genuine samsung one but that had the connections wrong and quality was terrible untill you pushed the function button then it become normal but you couldnt control anything with the function button
iam thinking the jays one or the htc one look pretty good
i like wired controls as they dont run out of battery like bluetooth headsets and dont drain battery like bluetooth headsets
i need a solid one though because iam fed up paying griffin £15 every 1-2 months and iam a posty so use my phone all day as a music player and the mail bag can cause strain on the wire across my chest

I bought it in a phone shop in Hungary, but as I can see, you can buy it on amazon as well.
For me, one of these lasts for about 9-12 months, though I use them every day, phone in my pocket etc.
For what it's worth I had 2 Samsung extension cables lying around for older phones, where it would work miracles, but on SGS2 it simply acts up like almost any of these (blame Samsung for changing things around and making them incopmatible in a year or so). I feed up and bought me Jay a-Jays One+ and never looked back. Good build quality and good sound, mic working as it should and apk is doing the rest for my preference and usage.

I don't think I can comment on the durability of the jays ones yet since I've only had them for just over a month (since the end of may) but I've used them almost daily since I bought them and have had no problems yet.
again, i can only recommend the original samsung hs3000. it offers the most features of the available stereo bluetooth headsets with phone capabilities, and at about 20 pounds, it is just as cheap as those lousy 3rd party aftermarket headsets but obviously is much better.
i have had it for about 7 or 8 months now and the battery life is still great. with 1 hour of music a day and another 1-2 hours of connected standby with the occasional call i can get through almost a week without recharging (if only the same thing were true with the phone itself ).

its a nice headset dont get me wrong ive owned two of them however the call button is huge and it always accidently calls someone for me because there is no lock on the call button and it is so easy to press by mistake , the amount of people i called by mistake was unreal
also the battery life isnt the best , about 6 hours mx music playback , bearing in mind i can work an 11 hour day , it wont even make it through a working day for me playing music all day (iam a posty and music all day is vital) so that means that iam then carrying around a bluetooth headset that has no battery and leaves me with a phone and headphones with no mic which is pretty useless for a handsfree situation
yu may love the samsung bluetooth adapter and thats great but for me it wasnt what i want/need and was pretty much useless for me if it cant even make it through the working day and that call button is huge and right on the front where it can easily be pressed
so yep its a nice bluetooth headset if thats what you need but i think the o/p and people like me no it exsists , dont like it or it doesnt fit our needs and we want a wired adapter so we can use our own headphones yet control our music and speak through them as well iam sure if we wanted a bluetooth headset then the thread title would be different dude

ah, ok. i didn't know you already had it. i thought my previous post was overread and i thought to suggest it again
you are right, the big call button and some other minor things might not be for everyone. although, if battery life was that bad for you, i would suggest plugging the original headset with microphone in the hs3000, so you'd have bluetooth as long as it lasts and still having a 2nd option. without carrying 2 separate sets of earphones.
however, it is too late now apparently.

I've had Samsung's in the past but decided to take a chance to buy the above phone due to cost saving.
The supplied earphones work perfectly though they are bigger than the bud type supplied with galaxy phones so they hurt my ears after a short period.
I've tried plugging in my old and a new set of Samsung headphones but they at first make a deep buzzing sound with low sound coming through, after moving jack around and pulling out a bit the sound works but as soon as I let go the sound goes back to buzzing again.
After inspecting the jack plugs I noticed that they are quite different, one is bigger than the other and the rubber rings are in differing points - until now I never new that jack sizes were different. I've attached a picture of them together (gold are Samsung)
my question is can I get a pair of bud type headphones with the larger plug? if so what do I look for?
I thought I'd ask hear before considering Bluetooth headsets.

I got the exact same problem and also discovered that if you remove the case, the smaller headphone jack will fit. Although this is not a solution. Sometimes i just loosen up the case a little on the area of the headphone jack so that it does fit. I'm looking foor a bigger jack now too.
