Can anyone confirm if the AT&T version has PMA or Qi charging? I have seen both, but no one has actually confirmed. I know it requires a new back to have either, but just want to know before I order a quick circle case and charger.
If it's one (IIRC SGS6 has both), it would be PMA because AT&T is party of that alliance, so that's what it pushes.
From what I've read about G3, - but I have no first hand experience, - the AT&T model even had a different pinout, so people couldn't put a Qi back on an AT&T phone!

Thats a good question, Try the CDMA thread and ask around for the size dimensions. They could be the same exact same or they could be different I'm not sure

I am pretty sure that the TMO version has a different back. The unlocked version has a different back then the TMO version and I think Verizons is the same as the unlocked. The Verizon one has a different style, but the way it connects to the phone is different. I attached a pic of the TMO and the Unbranded. Couldn't find a pic of the verizon battery cover. The bottom wraps around.
You can't put any onther back on the Tmobile one. all other versions of the TP2 have the battery cover consist of the whole back & sides, where as the Tmo version is just the back.
Sorry if it has been asked, and I did a search to no avail. For those of you with the telus t989d version, do the t-mobile branded cases fit the telus version? I am trying to find out before I spend money on a case that doesn't end up fitting. Thanks for any input! Let me know if you have a favorite also! Need one quick so I don't ruin this awesome phone
yes the phones are identical in every way even ROMs
they only added the D at the end to know it's from Telus instead of Tmo

I think they don't fit. I know their was a thread, but I am not going to look for it on my phone. I think the speaker cut out and the 3.5 mm jack are on the opposite side on the telus version.I may be wrong though. I'm sure if you search more on desktop you will find it easy though.

T-Mobile Galaxy S 2 Cases
Hi,
To answer your question, yes the T-mobile version of the phone and the Telus version are identical. If you buy a case specific for the T-Mobile version it will fit like a glove on the Telus version, cutouts and all.
I just purchased the Seidio Active Case yesterday, should be arriving in the mail soon. If you are looking for a high quality case, that provides great protection, you should check it out. comes with a built in kickstand as well.

You're thinking about the Skyrocket (AT&T and Rogers versions) cases, not the Telus and T-Mobile. They are the exact same hardware wise, except for the front faceplate is branded slightly differently.
Anyone know if replacement parts are interchangeable between models? I am getting a cheap Verizon Xperia Play and would like to remove the Verizon branding but not sure if I can simply buy a new battery cover/slide out gamepad cover or not.
They are pretty cheap so I guess I could just try it out but itf someone knows for sure it would save me the trouble.
Thanks.
Yeah,
if ure talkin about the back, there the same size for both models.
Yeah, I just do not know about motherboard.
Thanks guys. I really am only curious about the back and the gray plastic surrounding the buttons since those are the parts that have the carrier branding. Since I bought the phone simply for emulators and maybe some Play Store games and don't even use Verizon I kind of want to make it look like it isn't carrier branded. I would have bought an ATT version or international version but they are more expensive for obvious reasons.
Has anybody tried doing a touchstone mod for the LG G3? I have 2 touchstones that I'd like to reuse on this phone. Seems like it should be a pretty straight forward mod if I can figure out the polarities for the contact points.

I, too, would be interested in this (except for my Sprint LG G3).
I have talked to a guy on ebay, stms18, that makes inserts for the Galaxy S3, S4, S5, and Note III.
On July 16th, he said this:
Thanks for your interest. I plan on making a wireless charger similar to the ones I made for the galaxy line. Unfortunately, this won’t happen until a month from now. I have no way of getting the phone till then. I need to measure and test prior to me selling them. I have made hundreds for the galaxy line and would like to continue to provide this service. Please spread the word and maybe someone in my area (los angeles, southbay area) has one and might let me borrow it for a few hours to prototype. In exchange, I will provide them with a coil for the G3.

One caveat I've found from doing some research: it seems like the AT&T G3 has different hardware (PMA) than the rest of the world's G3s (which support Qi). So I don't think this would be applicable for the D850 model.
So if you or anyone reading this fits those requirements, with an VZW (VS985), Sprint (LS990), or T-Mobile (D851) G3, and are interested in using their old Palm Touchstones with the G3, please reach out stms18 on ebay.
That sounds great but unfortunately I'm in Michigan.
So switched to ATT from TMO and when I did I got a g3 at ATT... then I find out the bootloader is locked... annoying but not a deal breaker.... then I put it on my Qi charger and it doesnt charge... I check the back and notice it only has NFC so I figure I need to buy a new back... no luck... ATT went with PAM instead of Qi...
So on to my issues...
Should I go to TMO and buy an g3? From what I understand the bootloader is unlocked and it uses Qi. Am I correct?
Lastly with everyone reading this probably already having a g3... if you had to do it again would you buy a g3 right now? If not then please explain.
I do plan to also buy a Samsung Note Edge but cash price is going to be high and uncertain about ATT with the locked bootloaders etc. So that might be a device I will have to wait till a confirmed unlock happens for the bootloader for the att variety.
