Anyone with the T-Mobile US G4 have issues with WiFi Calling? I can connect at home, though sometimes it will take a few minutes to kick in, but at my office it comes up with the REG:99 error. My S6 worked fine on the router here.

I think they need to send an ota sim update. Call 611 and ask them to update your sim.

Thanks. I was just reading an older thread for the S5 where it was suggested an update may be needed. I did have to install a new SIM when moving from the S6 since this is still a Micro SIM device.

Yeah when my G3 got updated to LP I had to have them update my sim for wifi-calling 2.0
Did you guys ever figure this out?
I'm getting this error after 2-3 hours of connections. It's a new SIM card.

Hey guys if i get the invalid sim card message does that mean I must get a new sim card? If so how much would this cost me?

The sim card that is required for our devices to be able to use wifi calling is labeled with a TM9177 (newer sim card) so if you have a TM9073 (older sim card) you need to update that at your local T-Mobile store. it didnt cost me anything. they replaced it with no problems at all.

I've been seeing a major bug lately with WiFi calling. Sometimes (seemingly at random, though always when I am trying to connect to a WiFi after being connected to cell network) the icon will turn RED and give me the dreaded SIM error. Generally this is fixable with a reboot. So if you have a TM9177 SIM and for some reason you are getting the SIM Error code then try a reboot first.
Of course if you have an older SIM then yes, you need to get a new SIM. Call TMO first and tell them to put a note on your account that you are able to receive a free SIM. Otherwise some of the more A-Holeish stores may try and charge you 20 dollars.
No problem so far with wifi calling on my phone.
just goto your local t-mobile store and tell them to change your old card for a new one. they know what to do. and it's free.

Curiosity....what ROM are you using? I wonder if the wifi calling bugs I'm seeing are a ROM issue...
Thank you guys, I will call them first in head of time and then go to the mall. Thank you all!
As the title says, I've been dying to get a Note 10.1. I finally got one but it happens to be a T-Mobile version and the sim card has been removed. I don't plan on getting 4G service ever if I can avoid it.
So now I have a few questions:
1. Will I be able to get updates like the wifi only tablets do or will I be forced to get T-Mobile service when updates come out?
2. I have these annoying notifications about the missing sim card. Is there a way around this? I have Sprint service for my phones so I really don't know much about sim cards. Do I need to go to T-Mobile and just ask for one to pop in without getting service? Are they free or would they send me packing because I don't have their service?
3. I also have the x'd out signal meter that I would love to get rid of.
Any advice you guys can give me as a sim card/carrier tablet noob would be very helpful.

- You can get updates with WiFi only in fact some updates requires a WiFi connection in order to download since all data plans are limited on tablets

- You can get a SIM card for about $10, however you don't need to have service with T-Mobile you can put the SIM card and whenever you are not connected to WiFi but you get LTE service it would send you to a page where you can add a data package but thats completely optional
I also have the x'd out signal meter that I would love to get rid of.

Once you put a SIM card it would go away maybe there is a Xposed module that can remove the signal meter and the No SIM card notifcation
Thank you very much. Good info.
Why not root and flash a rom that doesn't have those things enabled.
Flashing a wifi version of a rom might do the trick.
I've done the reverse and flashed a 4G rom to my Wifi only device and simpy disable the phone and sms apps. Sometimes you have to be careful but I haven't had an issue both ways.
We have a Galaxy Note 2 from ATT now. Just upgraded, so we're not using it. We want to take it to Europe to use as a phone and a hotspot for our computers on our trip. I've read that people do that with unlocked Androids and a European SIM.
I was able to unlock the phone with no problem using a data only T-Mobile SIM card in the process. The problem is that I can't turn the Mobile Hot Spot on. I've tried with the valid data only T-mobild SIM installed. When I try to turn the hotspot on, it says that either the network is not available, or there's an invalid SIM. I'm worried that it's the ATT restrictions on the phone that aren't going away even if the phone is unlocked, and there's a different SIM in place.
Does anyone know what we have to do to enable the hotspot, so that this phone can be used in Europe?
Thanks.
Try with wifix.apk

Thanks. That looks like a good app to fix problems connecting to external wifi sources. However, I want my phone to BE the wifi source when in Europe. Still looking for a solution.

The thing that sticks out to me is that you actually need the correct Sim card that is provisioned for phone service.. I'm assuming this "data only sim" was provisioned for a tablet and therefore can't make any calls... the network unavailable message will show up even with no Sim installed and trying to enable a hotspot. You need a valid cell service in order to hotspot.
Hope Getting the Right SIM will do it.

Thanks. I hope that's what the problem is. It would make things simpler to be sure. I just didn't want to get there and then find out it wasn't going to work. In the meantime, I found my old Galaxy S 3. I managed to unlock it, root it, and install basic ROM. Thought maybe that would work, as well. I'll know by next week.
I purchased my s8 plus in Kuwait city from the Samsung store. Just got it on the the T-Mobile network and the Wi-Fi calling will not even show up as an option. This is a no go for me, so what options do i have? Hiw can this be fixed

i had a similar problem. after a software update was applied automatically, I lost wifi calling b/c my inserted SIM is not tmobile despite the device being unlocked. So, I inserted a tmobile sim and used ODIN to flash the latest stock firmware, and then i got wifi calling back. I'd test it first with a Tmobile sim (i bought one off ebay) and then restart the device. If that doesn't fix it, you may have to reflash stock firmware like I did.

I have a T-Mobile SIM installed right now, I've shut it off and restarted numerous times. I've never used ODIN nor flashed firmware. Where would I get the correct software to do this? Also, would it make a difference if my phone is an international dual SIM?

Software and instructions are here on xda in our device forum thread.
I'm unsure about your device. Dual sim intl version is definitely a different beast. You may want to ask in that forum... Sorry.

I had a similar problem and couldn't even find the wi-fi calling option, let alone enable it. Here's how I fixed it: I enabled Bixby and updated it. Then I said "Hey Bixby, enable wi-fi calling..." and not only did Bixby enable it, she located the settings. The setting lives under "Call Settings" which isn't accessible in any other way than by using Bixby (at least from what I can see).
Now wi-fi calling is enabled and I now have a whole host of additional call settings available to me.
Hope this helps.

I'm using a TMobile SIM on the TMobile network. The settings are stock Android (not TMobile) but they can only be accessed by using Bixby. They aren't found by browsing Settings or searching the phone.
I've made several successful WiFi calls since
Hi there recently got an LG G7 LM G710AV and the wifi keeps dropping. It connects to the wifi for about seconds then disconnects. but when i remove the sim card i works perfectly is there a fix for this? thank you
P.S its constantly searching for wifi before disconnecting
You could try asking your cellular provider for a new SIM card and see if that does anything to fix the issue. SIM cards are free, or they were the last time I got one. You can't get them sent to you free from websites for almost any provider if you don't have the money for one.
wow thank you. I had wifi problem with my laptop and I fixed it by buying a new sim card.
I didn't even have to master reset it or check the antenna.
