Yes, the Slide supports all the way up to 32gb as Drzfr3sh states. The way to check if its really a 16gb is when you put the sd card in your phone go to settings and then SD and phone storage. Once your there you might not see exactly 16gb. You might see for example 15.83gb or something close to it. For some reason you never get the exact gb a company advertise. But you will get something very close to it. I hope this helps.

thanks a lot! im just worried because there are a lot of fake microsd's on the market that have a hack on them that causes it to display more free space than the card actually has
you can tell by moving a big file onto the card, if it transfers fine and the whole file is intact you're okay, if it won't transfer you have a problem. I think buy.com is pretty legitimate, most of those scams you're talking about happen on ebay.

Not to sound stupid, but I never knew anything about this, about the hack. I guess for future reference get a sd from a trusted seller from ebay (I'm aware that you did not buy the sd from ebay).

Size of the card really doesn't matter, the class is. Even if it's 16 gigs it might have crappy transfer speeds.
For you guys that are confused about why the card says 5 gigs and it only reads 4.7

That sounds about right...my total sd space (in settings>sdcard an phone storage) is reported at 13.97 GB and I have an (approximately) 1GB ext3 partition for a2sd that doesn't get included in that total... so that adds up about the same....

That whole article totally misses the main reason why your SD card says 14.8 and not 16 - formating. It holds 16GB but a certain amount of that is reserved for formating.
Some systems do read data sizes differently but that's probably not the biggest reason why it's showing up as a smaller size. And of course, let's not get into 'bit' vs 'byte'

The reason you never get the advertised capacity is because the companies advertise the unformatted capacity. When you format it to FAT32 NTFS etc. that writes data to it lowering the advertised capacity.
Does anyone one know if anyone has done one of those "cracking open" vids for the HOX yet ? I would be interested to see how it's set up inside. I'd also like to know if the 32GB internal memory is actually a micro-SD card that could be swapped for a 64GB at some point

I would be shocked if the internal memory was a MicroSD and not soldered to the board. It kind of defeats the purpose to make it non-removable and NOT give us the performance of a dedicated connection.

From a diagnostics, servicing & repair point of view it would be much cheaper and easier if it was an SD card.
Not sure about manufacturing. Probably about even.
Just wondering if the only way to open up the One X is to remove the LCD screen? If yes then what's the point of knowing if it's a 32mb SD card? Is the average joe able to open it up anyway?

Put a HOX under X-ray (Turn it OFF first) and post a pic here.
We'll find out, if there is a memory card or something. Also, may be we'll see how to disassemble a HOX.
I think the HOX may be easier to disassemble that you might think.
I bought a gel skin case for mine which I take off fairly often because the HOX is so damn beautiful and nice to hold that it seems a crime to ruin it with a case.
Anyway, the case it quite a snug fit and I noticed when removing it that if I put my thumb on top of the polycarbonate just under the buttons at the bottom of the screen and firmly but gently flex it back I can snap the polycarbonate away from the screen by just a few millimetres. I can clearly see three little snaptabs sticking off the bottom of the screen that hold the polycarbonate in place. It snaps right back into place immediately.
I am too scared to try this right now but I think with further gentle pressure the whole outer casing would be levered away and you could lift all the innards out of the polycarbonate unibody.
There is clearly no "tool" access to the device so I assume that this is how it is assembled and disassembled.
BTW, here is a short video of the "opening" I mentioned above :

So maybe this brings hope, that this is not a throw away phone or a send back to HTC service centre senario. Hopefully the battery could be user replacable in a few years time, once third party batteries become available.

"The missing 2GB", episode 2?
Guessing that eMMC was partitioned in MLC mode on this one.
So, the differences are: black housing, secondary mic, AMOLED screen, 4GB of internal memory. Anything else?
And that would be an even more awesome device if HTC released it without these changes.

It's not a ROM. Read the thread title.
It's a DUMP from the G2 PROTOTYPE.
It contains all partitions' dump, including HBoot (v.0.55.2000 ENG, never seen before), Radio, System and all the other things.
And BTW I downloaded it and everything's fine for me.
Copied this file to my Dropbox as a mirror.

Much of the dump is wasted space, and the 2 nandroids are pretty much copies of the dump, so compress to insignificant space.

I don't see what makes you sad here...
1) this prototype has amoled POS display. SLCD > amoled.
2) Slow performing 4GB internal storage vs FAST performing 2GB. I'll take the faster anyday, since the device supports external add-on.
3) If by "8mb" you mean "8 MP", I don't see anything indicating such.
4) Ugly painted black plain prototype. Easy to scratch off paint and would quickly look like junk. They paint prototypes like that to make them nondescript.
What we have is basically *superior* to this prototype. The next step up is the HTC DOUBLESHOT.

Instagram only does square ratio cropping. If you want more in your picture, you have to put more in your picture when you take the picture. Step back, zoom out.
I use the stock camera while walking around with my daughter (2.5 yrs old Liver Transplant Survivor) on daddy-daughter dates weekly. When I get home, I load them up in my Aviary app, edit them and even crop them square ratio if I am going to upload to IG. Then just import to IG.
Seems more hassle but I feel like I have more control and since I use pictures of her to help promote organ donation and to update her FB page It is worth it imo.

All that app does is shrink the original down and adds a white border. The s3 camera is good enough to put more in the view finder and crop down to the a square ratio essentially zooming in to what you want in IG.

yes would expect that from the app. It shrunk the pic down and squared with a white border.
My point is if to put more distance between you and the object and sue the cropping to blow it up. No white borders. More detail of the actual object you wanted on IG.

That doesnt make sense Huawei release new technology and not including it in their flagship line up contradicts the purpose of introducing it.

What ever amount of internal storage you have I will prefer to have external storage when I wanted to change my device I would just move all my data to external storage and will use the same card in the new device it will prevent me the hectic work of copying data.

Did you try by formatting card to fat32 format?
That doesn't make sense realising a special card and not allowing it to use in flagships.
I don't get why Huawei released it in the first place.

Thanks. In that case it's a bummer.
May be they will enable it in future updates.
If it doesn't have the hardware to support NM, it's not something that can be enabled of fixed with a software update. I have had a mate 8,9 and 10. I refuse to buy the mate 20 because of this nano memory proprietary, inferior and overpriced cards.
I love my Nova 3 using my 400gb micro sd card. From what I've read, the Nova 4 also doesn't support memory expansion. These are fatal marketing errors by huawei.
Thank you all for the discussion.
