[Q] App stopping in background. How to stop? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the LG G4 and I use Slacker Radio to stream music. Whenever I place the app in the background (use a different app, go to home screen, etc.) the music keeps playing for a short while but then stops and the icon in the task bar disappears. Is there something in the LG software that kills background tasks that I need to identify Slacker to? I never had this problem on my Nexus 5 and don't have any task killer apps installed. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated as I am new to the LG software that is installed on the G4.
Thanks!

I think I figured out my issue. I had an app called "Don't Pause" that I used to suppress my notifications while listening to music, and removing this seems to have helped fix the issue. Hopefully this helps others.

Music Starts Playing By Itself

I've encountered a strange problem lately. Within the last few days, my music apps seems to start playing on their own. This does not seem to be related to putting in or removing headphones, as I have not used any headphones for quite some time. Rather, it seems to happen after I perform certain functions on the phone.
For example, it happens whenever I use Astro to move or delete a file. Immediately after performing the cut or copy, the music starts. It has also happened after I disable bluetooth and/or turn of the screen.
What's strange is that it is not always the same music player which opens. Sometimes its HTCMusic and sometimes its DoubleTwist. As an experiment, I tried freezing HTCMusic with TitaniumBackup and then installing the AOSP music app from CM6. Same result.
I'm using Calukin's ROM, but have been for several weeks without issue so I don't believe that is the cause.
Any ideas as to what might be going on here?
Bump. Really need help figuring this out. Late last night, my Evo was tucked away for bed in its charger. All of the sudden, the music started blaring again. Nobody touched it. In fact, my family was all asleep when it happened and it woke up my kids. Thinking I'm just going to have to start over with a new ROM if there's no answer.
What's odd is that whenever the music starts, I will open the music app to kill it and the app doesn't know it is playing right away. In other words, the play button is displayed, rather than the pause button. To kill the music, I have to hit play, then pause.
I assume you're not running any tasker profile or other program related to running sound based on a condition?
Have you explored the possibility you have a music-loving ghost living in your home?
There is a bug where sometimes a random song off your memory card gets used for a notification sound, you may want to check those out. Last time I did an OTA update it changed my facebook notification to baby got back and the only way I could get it to stop playing was to mute or reset my phone lol

[Q] Does anyone get this Android Assistant notification at start up?

I have an HTC Droic Incredible 2. Recently, I disable auto-syn to save battery. Also, lately, when my phone boots up, I am greeted with the following Android Assistant message. "Becasue of google's limits, the following apps cannot be killed. Please click to force close from application info." It then lists the apps that cannot be killed: Sync Service, doubletwist, Mobile IM, Sound set, maps. I then have the option to click switch to all or close (notification). Anyone have this problem? Anyone have any ideas on how to get this annoying notification to disappear? Thanks.
I don't want to be "that guy", but this is the Droid Incredible OG forum. Look for the Dinc2 one.
Look at dinc2 forums. Try a Google search.
But no, I can't say that I have seen that message.
Try looking through settings to see if there is a battery saver option, auto task manager, etc then disable it and see if it happens again.

Apps not quitting..

Hi, Well i don't know if it's me, the SW or what the hell is going on so thought i would post here and see if anyone is experiencing this or knows how to fix this annoying problem basically certain apps won't quit when i am finished using them examples are Wear for Spotify & Strava they are the two worst offenders Ghostracer is more sporadic in this behaviour.
Wear for Spotify and Strava have no stop buttons only pause so you have to pause then side swipe right for them to go away then swipe up to dismiss only for them to reappear again i've also tried killing them on the phone it does nothing they come right back only way i can kill them is by rebooting my SW which is seriously a pita to be doing all the time. I'm thinking the problem is down to ****ty coding of the app but i am no expert.
My SW has no mods is not rooted and is running the latest Wear update.

Well, I think the problem is the bad coding of the app or it may be an intended behavior of the app. I'm using Task Manager For Android Wear (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager). This way you can kill apps without rebooting your SW.

How to turn off the D851 Upgrade Notification for Marshmallow?

Hi all,
Just like the title says. I'd like to clear the notification for Marshmallow and have it not bug me. I'm running the 5.01 stock/rooted and have removed the T-Mobile stuff since I'm an ATT user. The phone works fine as is except for the phone app crashing sometimes. I've heard the Marshmallow software removes the ability to see what's playing on my car's monitor when paired to the car and playing music or other media, which is a complete upgrade killer.
So, until this gets sorted out, I just want to ignore the fact that there's an upgrade waiting, and remove the nags. How do I do it?
Marc
Somewhat answering my own question I did a long press of the notification and in the Google play settings I told it to never notify me. But I'm concerned it may now not notify me of app updates and stuff. Would prefer a more selective disable.

Near perfect but an aggressive background app issue holds it back. Any advice?

I've had my 7T for about a week now. Its such a dang good phone. I love it. But I've one issue I'm looking for help with.
Apps that I expect to do things in the background don't work.
Example 1: Spottily is set to auto play when the bluetooth connects. On my Samsung as long as the app was in the background I didn't even have to unlock the phone. On the 7T I have to wake up the phone and bring the app into the foreground before it will start playing.
Example 2: I have an app that will let me download from instagram, it sits in the background and intercepts clip board links. Works great on my samsung but on this phone I have to switch to the app before it will do its thing.
Its as if its heavily throttling apps in the background and I've found now way to change that. Any advice?
edit: I have tried the following with no effect.
1. Tried locking the app in multitasking
2. Turning off battery optimization for the apps in questions

I have no such issues. Whatever app I want to keep running in the background is always running. I've had such an issue with my previous huawei phone, and the button mapper app. I don't experience any of those. I have a 7T HD1903 on OOS 10.0.8.
