Hi guys,
I want to buy a new phone, i have now the htc desire. Yeah i know... Have a old phone, but a long time ago i wanted to buy a G3, but i read some huge annoying bugs, like the screen-light adjustment cant put on highest toggle, because it toggles back to low (phone gets heated)
And just like the 4k record, you just can record for 5 mins, or the phone reboots.
So my question is , is the G4 a lagy phone just like the G3? (go to the hidden settings to toggle some settings off to get the smooth out of it)
Or have some other guys experience some lag on the G4?

Hi,
I have the G4 for 3 days now and I can tell you, the G4 has no lag at all! Really amazing what LG has achieved in comparison with the G3.
I had the G3 since the release and it was pretty laggy and slow at some moments, switching from Whatsapp to the home screen was very laggy.
With the G4 it really fly's, even Facebook is loaded within a fraction of a second. Also the overheating problem is gone ^^ Personally I love the G4 in many many way's.
Te return the your question, the G4 is not laggy If you have some qestions let me know
First of all, thanks for you reply!
Oh so the G4 doesn't have the lag issues, thats good to know from a enduser[emoji16]. How about the brightness of the screen? I saw on the previous version (G3) if the brightness all the way up, it throttle down, because the phone is getting hot i guess. You can then go in to the hidden menu to set that off, that phone throttle downs..
So do you have that also on your G4?

The brightness of the G4 is brighter then the G3, for sure. Also haven't experience the throttle down thing and the overheating of the screen. The colors of the screen in the G4 are btw much better then the G3. In every way the screen is better! ^^
Thanks for confirming that you dont have any kind of lagg or the phone throttle the brightness to low because its getting overheat (known issues of the G3)

No problem Yeah I had the same thing, a real shame

So I recently purchased a bargain priced g pad here in the UK. I am currently an Ipad air owner(boooo) but wanted to get an Android tablet and this seemed like my best option. But I have to say that I am really disappointed as it it laggy as hell and the battery life is pretty poor.
Is this normal or am I the proud owner of a dud? The lag occurs in stock launcher and apex. It also happens in browsers, namely chrome, Uc and dolphin. It even lags when browsing threads on tapatalk.
I have factory reset it and no joy. I am outside the 7 day return period and so kind of need to fix the issue if poss.
Thanks in advance for any help that can be given

I own LG GPad 8.3 as well, and I don't see any lags, it is working as normal. even games are running smoothly. I don't know why is it lagging on your tablet.

I find my g pad smooth as well and no issues. Very happy with speed. Now my galaxy s3 phone, that is laggy and looking forward to next upgrade
Im pretty surprised with how much people are getting lags.. even with stck unrooted out of the box i dont get these lags.. although i knew it can perform better.. for the people with lags try rooting and installing the malladus custom rom.. suped up stock rom with most of the lg software in tact..... as stated in that forum the way the stock rom should run.......... much smoother when running anything and everything...... try it out..
Ran pretty smooth stock

Thanks for the replies, I may have to go down the root path then as a test, other than the lag and slightly poor battery life it is a good tablet for sure

I've also observed some stuttering while using my V500 (especially scrolling webpages).
The best way to test this is to choose image from gallery, zoom in and drag it around furiously
Sometimes its smooth and works as supposed to, but most of the times after a second or two it stops responding to finger movements.
No idea what to do. I like LG stock rom, but this is a deal-breaker for me
I have experienced really bad lag playing jetpack joyride. Anyone else experience this? Running stock.

I rooted mine and installed cyanogenmod as soon as I got it home. The stock ROM isn't great, getting almost vanilla Android on it makes for a much nicer and snappier tablet

add the task manager widget, how much Free RAM is there when it lags?
I'm usually at 600-730 free RAM and the only time it lags is when closing out a game and quickly launching email or Chrome app from home screen.

Is there any other app that lets one fix the black levels? The G Pad without any fixing of the black levels isn't that great for watching shows, movies or playing games where details often can be found in the darker areas. And trading better black levels for more lag (or having to use the Performance governor isn't great). I even noticed watching shows with Screen Adjuster made the FPS a bit jittery (like it's missing frames here and there).

That is not a lag, that is either defective digitiser or drivers within software. Ive got exactly the same issue on mine, suddenly it just stops responding when dragging my finger across the screen like it was not touched.

Hm, please inform me if the new unit also has this issue. I was wondering if this is hardware or software problem, as it's not constant, sometimes digitizer works great.

New one is definitely working better, however it still feels like it misses touches every once in a while. That could be a software issue though, it was with my Nexus 7 2013.

I just had digitizer replaced by LG service center. New one works great, no problems at all. So it was a hardware issue after all, like michal_alton suggested.
Hi guys. Help me decide. I don't know which phone to get. Right now my S5 is at an auction on ebay and I was thinking of replacing it with the G3 but the problem for me is battery life. How bad is the on screen time? I would settle with an M8 but i just can't handle the camera.

exactly the same for me..i have the G3 and the S5 i know it's not the same screen but i'm waitin' for the new 10g update to see the battery life and if it's nt concluant i will sell it.
The S5 definitely got better battery life (screen on time)
It would be a bit worse/on par with the M8 i had 2 months ago!
The battery is not bad but also not that good.. maybe with some tweaks like greenify, rooting, freezing apps.
I get about 3 hours SOT and 1/1,5 days
Edit: I have the 10G software
There is like 2 threads about battery life already.
Search.
I had a s5 and I never got the screen on time as I do now with the g3! All depends on your usage
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
exactly..it depends your usage.
I get around 6 hours of SOT, thats enough for me. With ART and nova launcher there is also no lagg at all. I considered tobuy the m8 too but since it was the size of the G3 witha smaller screen i chose the G3. I just couldn' get over how much space HTC wasted with the stupid logo in the front. If it's really necessary like they say, they could have at least kept the buttons like on the m7. This way you have the wasted space and onscreen buttons which take away even more screen.
Hi Guys,
I am really new to this forum and I deeply apologise if this thread or subject matter has been opened numerous times.
However, I am just somewhat really puzzled as to how amazing the spec this phone is. I just loving it apart from two things. The battery could be better but hey with all that juice and cpu it needs to run that beast of a screen its understandable. However, the ultimate thing that bugs me is how it gets incredibly laggy at times when hoping from an app back into the home screen.. Especially in games or Facebook.. Has anyone experienced this issue?
I have rooted my LG g3 too and I have also turned the developer options on in which I have decreased the transition times from the default settings to off or 0.5 for few of the minimise options..
I just hoping anyone can help or have ideas?
Thanks so much
By no means am I trying to be rude, but if you search around a bit, you will see that this is apparently an issue just about everyone has.

There are 2 theories. 1 is that the software isn't optimized and is causing lag. 2. It takes more resources to draw the QHD display, therefore the phones CPU and GPU is having to work harder than an HD display and this is causing lag.

I couldnt agree more in regards to the QHD screen. I just hope that can flash Stock Android on to the device or just install something that is different.
Apparently I heard there was rumours that the screen could be decreased to 1080p?
Instead of crying, just got to the hidden menu and enable 60fps in the dynamic lcd refresh menu.

People here get mad if you don't use the search efficiently. It's actually one of the forum rules.
If people do get mad, realise that they've probably seen this question 2343636 times and you maybe could have found it. Just move on.

That's the stupidest thing I've heard. I own a Nexus 10, a two year old tablet with the same resolution as our G3. It has a dual core processor, running 1,7Ghz. And guess what, it is smooth as hell. Even smoother than my G3, like a lot. And I don't like it... But once the bootloader gets unlocked we could probably see the G3 running flawlessly with Android L.

I am sorry to disappoint but some people are not as fortunate to have the intelligence that other have and as life has evolved, so will my knowledge as time goes by in having my phone...
I have been a LG G3 user for month and 2 weeks so far. First android phone. From an avid iPhone 4 user since it came out...
I'd greatly appreciate if people could respect me and help me rather than slate me for my 'noob' questions...
Other than that thanks to everyone who has shared light with me and who can continue to provide amazing advice.
After boundless and endless search, i have after hours of tedious trail and error managed to flash the leaked firmware 10j that i see floating about on the forum on my D855 and noticed a slight decrease in lag.. I have also changed the runtime from Dalvik to ART.. Which made a slight increase in speeds...
Aside from that can anyone please give extra tips and personal tweaks they done to boost there performance?
Thank you ever so much!:good:

First I'd like to apologize for all the rude people around here. Sorry buddy.
Second there are many things you can do to make your phone faster and lag free.
I copied this from the post here to make it easier for you.
Open the dial pad, then type the following number, choose one code that matches with your device model:
- 3845#*855# (Intl)
- 3845#*851# (TMo)
- 3845#*850# (AT&T)
- 5689#*980# (Sprint)A hidden menu will be showing up, scroll down till you find “High Temperature Property”.Tap it, then*turn it ON.
Now find thermal daemon mitigation and turn it on either. switch off your phone, and wait for about 15 seconds.Next,*turn it on*again, when you see screen lock, wait at least 35 seconds.Enjoy your lag-free LG G3.
Third, I advice you to change the launcher. I suggest nova since it's full of customization and really light.
Here : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher
Install it play around with for a while. It's easy to customize it the way you like.
Enjoy your phone buddy...

Thanks ever so much for your amazing support and suggestions.
I have managed to do the sugggested list that you mentioned. I just realised a new issue with my phone that I really am surprised about now. I charge my phone at 100% and within 2 hours I have lost a good 30% of my battery within a space of 2 hours.. By having the phone on just locked.. All recent apps closed. Its a strange issue. I dont know why all of a sudden.. I can see in the battery menu that andriod os and android system are taken up about 47% and the display taking 35%...
Im sorry to branch from one issue to another but I dont really know what to do. And I am really worried in doing factory reset and losing my data. I am having to charge my phone in space of 2 times in a day.. doesnt make sense.
Thanks so much

Can you post a screen shot of your battery stats so we can see what's using the most battery? It could be a rogue process killing the battery.
There is probably some app eating your battery. Try to post a screenshot of you battery stats. To do so press power button and volume down at the same time and hold them for a second.
Any way, Apart from the battery issue, how's the smoothness?
As you can see in mine I'm off the battery for 3 hours. Haven't used the phone e so far since I'm home playing battlefield 4. Still at 100 %.
At first the battery drains a lot faster when in a new rom, the it settles.
But in your case it is draining way to fast.
Restart your phone, give it a full charge and let it rest for an hour. Let us know how it goes.
Thanks guys for your response, I am really shocked as to why my battery is just eating up soooo fast like that... You can see from the graph in the screenshot that it just plummets down sooo fast within hours..My screen brightness is set at 50% without no auto brightness and I don't really have much apps running.. Im really bemused as to whats going on?
I removed the battery for a while and I also restarted my phone.. This is a MASSIVE improvement because the Android OS and Android System was both taken up a good 40% and screen 30%.. but even with the stats shown I'm still reducing significant amount of battery..

What are the main issues of the lg g3 (planning to buy one)..
Does it have the screen issue like the g2? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fd5BTKpViUk
is there a fix for the overheating and shutdown issues?
how is performance in gaming?
is it possible to reduce the resolution to 1080p to save battery and gain performance (and maybe prevent overheating)?

Read through The G3 threads you will know the answer to all of these.
You cant reduce resolution.
Gaming is decent
I have had no such overheating since 10H update and no shutdown issues ever.

OK the. Do other users also have temperature and shutdown issue fixed with the lg update?
Never had shutdown or overheating no matter what firmware. It's abit laggy tho but way better with art etc.
I guess you guys are not heavy users? cuz I read a lot of users have overheating issues with message prompting them to decrease brightness as it is overtheating and may shutdown (what the heck? ... LG really lost it on that one... Do you really expect to get that kind of message on a flagship pricey phone??). LG seems to be making great phones but each time there's a deal breaker. (screen issues with LG G2 and now overheating/performance issues on the LG G3)... I hope they get it right with the G4.
Did antutu x benchmarks, 3 times in a row with 90% brightness without auto with an ambient temp of 30c. I actually can't remember if my score was lower last time (because of throttling), gonna check it when I receive my phone again.
No message about high temp etc tho.
ok you are probably not a heavy user.

I am a very heavy user. No issues. People need to understand a simple factory reset and installing the latest update helps. When i first got it i performed a factory reset and installed thr latest update manually so i never really had time to see if it had issues on previous firmware . although i did run a benchmark when i got it it got really hot. But i did the same after the update it just got a little warm nothing to worry about.
ok. I want to know if other users have these issues solved with the updates like you.

abysmal battery life?

nice video showing that how lg g3 compares to the cat 6 version and the galaxy s5 prime
Sometimes the phone become hot specially when the phone is charging and I'm texting and browsing 'usually in a dark room so the brightness is 0%'
And yes my phone brightness decreased to 90% automatically and sometimes 80% due to overheating

Hello guys, I am really interested in buying this phone and I don't want to make a mistake, as this maybe will be my phone for the next 2-3 years, maybe more.I want to know your opinions, does this phone worth to buy? Does it have that annoying bloatware that slows the phone alot(I have a s3 now and I know what I am talking ) and in everyday usage does it work smooth, how is the multitasking and the battery in normal usage (fb, calls etc)?
Also I am between this and the M8, but on M8 the camera doesn't seems to be that good, how is on this?
Thanks in advance and hope we'll meet in this forum shortly

It's definitely a great phone, sad to say that most every phone comes with bloatware, I wouldn't say it affects the performance of the G3 as badly as the touchwiz interface lags the s3 to holy hell, and with normal usage my phone will last forever, but it's never under normal usage and I usually get around 6 hours of intense usage. The G3's camera can take some stunning pictures, but if you do get a G3 look for one of the camera mods because LG didn't put enough software to back up their camera hardware!
